History

Tio is one of the very first mortals to have been transformed into an Immortal. Originally born a Yludih, Tio was a thief who desperately longed to find a way to live forever. In the pursuit of this goal he got involved with magic and ended up stumbling his way into events that attracted the Immortal's attention; though not always in a good way, such as when he attempted to murder Cassion. While his brash behaviour earned him the favour of some it made him the enemy of others, and he ended up bearing a total of six different Immortal-given curses, a whole heap of different magical mutations, and a reputation as a complete nutter.

This all came to a head in arc 719, when the mortalborn's Jesine and Kielik fell into slumber and threatened to destroy Emea. Tio was one of the mortals called upon to help the situation, though through his actions he accidentally helped trigger the event that came to be known as the Fall of Emea: a massive explosion that destroyed much of Emea and wrecked havoc on Idalos. Tio himself was transformed into an Emean Being in this event and thrown out of the natural flow of time, causing him to spend twenty years wandering the wreckage of Emea alone during a single season on Idalos

However one day Vri sent the mortalborn Nir'wei on a mission out into Emea, to help fix the damaged caused to Idalos by restoring the pathway between it and the realm of the dead. During this journey Nir'wei encountered Tio, who decided to help him on his quest. The two were successful in fixing this connection, and in doing so triggered one final change in Tio's biology. He was tranformed into a fledging Immortal, and brought back to Idalos by Saoire and Karem.

After a brief period of messing around Tio lent his aid to Scalvoris during the release of the great fire Induk Faldrass, during which he encountered Cassion again. He realised during this event the true significance of what it meant to be an Immortal; that he could never truly live among mortals again. It was then that he agreed to learn to control his newfound powers under Cassion's tuition and leave his old life behind.

Presently

Tio travels with Cassion, learning how to control his Immortal powers. Although he is capable of most anything the other Immortals are, the scale he can do this on is far lower due to his lack of experience and followers. He often acts as a messenger between the other Immortals, or as one of their heralds for business on Idalos.

Appearance

Tio has caucasian skin and short, spiky light blonde hair. His physique is tall and slender, with little in the way of visible muscles sadly, and on his chin he has a small, stubbly blonde beard. His eyes are a metallic silver colour, like mercury, that often glow with an eerie silver light when he uses his divine powers. On the right side of his neck there is a golden circle tattoo. While he dressed in fine clothing such as suits he usually wears it sloppily, with the shirt untucked and the top buttons undone, and so generally looks a bit messy.

Personality

When you first meet Tio, the thing that stands out about him perhaps the most is his bubbly enthusiasm. He is energetic and youthful, full of good cheer, ambition and adventurous spirit, and always seems to go with his own flow in a slightly childish manner, making jokes or other carefree remarks as he does his own thing. There is a touch of eccentricity in him, reflected in his flair for the dramatic and harmless love for his own appearance, which tends to make events he is a part of spiral out of control. His game is all about entertainment, and it shows in his fondness for mischief, lies and flirting as well as his adamant refusal to do anything that he believes will be even a little boring. It is also fairly obvious after just a few minutes in his company that Tio is the unfortunate combination of a fortune-seeker and a bit of a fool, which together grant him the uncanny ability to end up right in the middle of trouble, intentionally or not.

Relationship with other Immortals

It is no great secret that Tio is not particularly popular among the other Immortals. Though there were some moments during his mortal years where he proved could be compassionate and dependable, there were many other times where he proved himself to be foolish, selfish and deceitful to the point of endangering the entire world. While becoming an Immortal has helped him grow into a slightly more responsible person it's hard to tell that from his deliberately immature behaviour. To those not considered his direct allies he is an irritating nuisance at best, and an insult to the dignity of the Immortals at worst. However as he is by far the least powerful of the Immortals, and unbound by the laws of the pact that stop most of the others from directly interfering with the events of the world, he is uniquely suited to play the role of an intermediary and messenger between the other Immortals or as their herald on Idalos. Therefor he is tolerated, but rarely treated as an equal.

Opinions on Magic

Having been a mage himself as a mortal Tio is uniquely suited to give advice on it. He encourages the use of magic; particularly necromancy, graft, defiance and attunement, but warns all who use it that they'll never realise quite how much it changes them until they lose it.

Opinions on Mortals

Tio thinks mortals are great, and has a particular soft spot for Yludih.

Worship

Worship of Tio is all but non-existent. Most who know him personally like him, but aren't crazy enough to think that's he's anything like a figure that anyone should dedicate their faith to.

Starter Quest

The bond between a master and his pupil should be strong, kinetic, and lifelong. To be initiated into magic and promptly abandoned shows Zavious' negligence and inability to educate his new pupil. His own mentor had never shared with him that by sharing the Spark, a master can sense his/her pupil until death took them. Without this knowledge, he is unaware of your existence. With master and pupil unknowingly alive to the other, both will continue to struggle through Domain alone. You should seek out another mage, of any Domain, for help initially. When they share the concept of the spark and you realizes that your master is still alive, you will have to make a series of choices. Will you seek out Zavious or choose to stay with your new master? If you hunt Zavious, will you seek to repair the bond, or destroy the only one person who will always know where you are? After all, a person who knows where a thief is can be a snitch.

Blessings & Curses

Tio is cursed by Delroth & Syroa.

Delroth & Syroa

Tio has been given five custom curses by Delroth & Syroa.

MODERATORS Please look here for further details.

  1. Tio was deconstructed and reformed as a human, the same as he looked as Yludih.
  2. Made impotent. Tio can no longer have lead in his pencil. This is a divine curse, not a biological flaw, so cannot be cured purely by medical means.
  3. The bonemask that grew from his face is not removable without killing him, and the mask twists itself into true showings of the most dominant emotion he felt within at any given time.
  4. No reflective surface will ever show his visage.
  5. Any use of his spark to speak to the winds would find it to be a great struggle. The winds were torn, caught between the power Delroth bore over them and the power that Tio's spark gave him, and as such, all interactions with the natural force would come with conflict.

Additionally, Tio was given a mission to truly kill Cassion.

Name: Zavious Smitt City Location: Yaralon DoB: 4th Cylus, 647 Race: Human (originally) Organization (if any): None Skills: Domain Magic 1: Necromancy - 76 Domain Magic 2: Graft - 44 Domain Magic 3: Becoming - 25 Non magic skill: Intelligence - 55 Non magic Skill: Deception - 25 Non magic Skill: Disguise - 25

Bio: Although Zavious was born in Yaralon, he was never accepted by his people as a true yari. He was born weak and sickly, with a body that was pathetically weak and fragile. Training with a sword gave his hands cuts that wouldn't stop bleeding for trials, and basic exercises left him gasping for breath. Yet although his body was severely limited his mind was not, and the shame and loathing he felt towards his own flesh forced him to develop intellectually in an attempt to compensate. By the time he was a young man he'd become logical, ruthless and dangerously cunning, which attracted the attention of the Coven of Elasin and persuaded them to recruit him into their ranks. Allied to the spark of necromancy, Zavious' sharp mind became a dangerous weapon indeed.

Yet that wasn't enough for Zavious. Old insecurities and newfound pride in his magical prowess mixed together to birth an overwhelming desire within him: to obtain an ultimate body worthy of a mind like his. He felt that he deserved a form that was stronger and more beautiful than any other; a truly perfect incarnation that would live forever and be free from any and all flaws. In order to realize this dream he obtained the graft spark, and went on a crusade against the coven's enemies in order to climb the ranks and gain access to the higher secrets of magic. Along the way he used his newfound spark to constantly alter his own body, remaking it over and over again in an attempt to reach perfection. Eventually this trail of destruction led the pair to Scalvoris, with a mission to annihilate the local Seeker cell.

However it was there that Zavious met an obstacle he could not overcome: a defier named Ozbourne. No matter what tricks and traps he set Oz was able to fight his way out of them with raw strength and determination, and Zavious quickly came to despise the man with a passion. Their shadow war went on for arcs, until Ozbourne was able to finally defeat him in a climactic battle at great personal cost. Zavious fled, and took advantage of the chaos to leave the coven behind as well. He had already found whatever secrets he was after within their archives, and had realised that staying allied to Elasin would only make achieving his dream more difficult. He kept his head down and disappeared, researching his ultimate goal in secret and constantly travelling to avoid being found again by the coven.

It was not until many arcs later that he encountered Tio. The young yludih, back then nothing more than a cheeky thief who was untouched by magic, had tried to steal from his laboratory and been caught by his thralls. Why exactly Zavious chose to initiate Tio is a mystery only he knows the answer to. Perhaps he sympathized with someone who also felt trapped and ashamed of their own body? Or perhaps Tio was meant to serve a purpose for him; something that would help him finally fulfill his grand ambition? Whatever the reason Zavious vanished the moment Tio became a necromancer, and has not been seen since.

Relationship: Tio and Zavious' relationship is complicated, mostly because of how indirect it is. Zavious has a plan for Tio, and for whatever reason it is one that he decided would be better served by hiding away and leaving him to struggle through figuring out how to use his spark by himself. However he is not truly gone. Zavious' influence has always been there, secretly guiding Tio's journey without him knowing it, and now that he has come to Yaralon that influence is starting to become more apparent. His thralls and servants scurry about in the shadows, guiding events towards some secret conclusion. But what that end is remains to be seen.

Name: Thena Stoker-Smith City Location: Scalvoris DoB: 20th Cylus, 651 Race: Human Organization (if any): The Seekers Skills: Domain Magic 1: Attunement - 69 Domain Magic 2: Rupturing - 51 Non magic skill: Observation - 50 Non magic Skill: Ensorcelling - 30 Non Magic Skill: Investigation - 20 Non Magic Skill: Field Craft - 10

Bio: Raised in a monastery of Ziell, Thena was taught from an early age that violence and war were never the answer to any problem. She was raised to be a pacifist, and to do whatever she could to preserve peace. Thena took these teachings to heart, and earned the mark of Ezere during her early teenage years. She was a naturally shy girl, finding normally people to be far too noisy to be around for long, and soon decided to leave the monastery and go into semi-isolation in the ice caves of Ishallr, where she could live in quiet and study the prophecies she foresaw. However it wasn't long before these prophecies began to speak of a coming calamity that threatened Scalvoris. Thena saw it as her duty to help prevent this from occurring and headed back to the mainland to seek out a man she'd seen regularly in her visions: a man who could shape the earth to his will named Ozbourne Kerrik.

Ozbourne was already a Seeker by then, and after she explained the future she had seen approaching he recruited her into the Seekers. From them she received her attunement and rupturing sparks, although refused to take any others as she believed they would tempt her into violence. When the disaster she had foreseen came in the form of a mage from the Coven of Elasin, Zavious Smitt,, who used his magic to wage a shadow war against the Seekers, Thena used her blessing and sparks to predict and figure out all of his tricks and traps, allowing Ozbourne to fight back against them. It was thanks to her oracular abilities that he survived against their manipulations for so many arcs, and eventually defeated Zavious.

However her visions of disaster did not end. Zavious had escaped, and in her dreams she saw that in the far future he would still go on to create the great calamity she'd been warned about. She started to see visions of a cocoon made of bones, and a man in a mask becoming a monster. When Ozbourne came to her many arcs later with his new apprentice Tio in tow, a younger version on the masked man she had foreseen, Thena realised that the beginnings of the calamity were upon them. She decided to pass on her attunement spark on to Tio in the hopes that it would allow him to calm his other sparks, protect him from whatever Zavious had planned for him, and learn to focus on the beauty of magic rather than just the power it could grant him. Perhaps then he would be able to avoid becoming the beast she had seen in his future.

Relationship: Tio and Thena's relationship is rather tricky, given that Thena has seen quite a few possible versions of his future and that very few of them end well. Not that she's willing to tell him that of course. Although they are physically distant, Thena keeps an eye on her apprentice by monitoring his frequency and communicates with him via scrying to give him advice and warnings. She is very cautious of Tio, suspecting that any of the ambitious actions he takes could be the one that turns him into the monster she foresaw him becoming, but is equally proud that when it really matters he is able to put his ego aside for the good of others.

Name: Ozbourne Kerrik City Location: Scalvoris DoB: 3rd Cylus, 630 Race: Human Organization (if any): The Seekers Skills: Domain Magic 1: Defiance - 75 Domain Magic 2: Hone (Lucis) - 45 Domain Magic 3: Abrogation - 25 Non magic skill: Unarmed Combat (Da'riya) - 40 Non magic Skill: Teaching - 25 Non magic Skill: Brewing - 20

Bio: Ozbourne, simply called Oz by most, has been a member of the Seekers ever since he was a young man. Brought into the group by his uncle and trained by him in defiance, Oz was always a firm believer that magic was a tool that should be shared with all of humanity and used to defend it from injustice. He spent his youth fighting instead of researching, using the power of the elements to defeat bandits, monsters and many other evils.

He is most famous among the Seekers for an event that took place when he was a young man. A seer by the name of Thena appeared one trial and warned him that a disaster would soon befall Scalvoris. A short while later a mage from the Coven of Elasin appeared named Zavious Smitt, and began to wage a shadow war against the Seekers. For arcs he put plot after plot into motion, attempting to destroy them with political machinations, trickery or just brute force, however with Thena's guidance Oz was able to foil his plans time and time again.

Eventually the shadow war came to an end when Oz found Zavious and engaged him in a duel. He was able to prevail against the necromancer, but only by overstepping very heavily and as a result lost his connection to his kin element of earth. Although defeated Zavious escaped, and was never seen my the mage community again.

In recognition for his years of service Ozbourne was awarded Warlock status of Scalvoris. Yet by then age had started to creep up on him, and the lack of companionship from the element that'd been like a brother to him took a heavy toll. Ozbourne was no longer able to bring out the fiery passion he'd once had, and found that his duties as a leader became more and more burdensome as time went by. Since his appointment Ozbourne has stubbornly kept the Seekers presence on Scalvoris from fading, but has not been able to encourage growth under his leadership either. He now aims to train a new generation of Seekers to refill their ranks and usher in a new golden age of magic.

Appearance: Image

Relationship: Ozbourne was the first master Tio formed a proper bond with, and as such is the one he respects the most. It was Oz who brought him into the Seekers, Oz who taught him the fundamentals of magic, and Oz who Tio thinks of when asked who his mentor is. Although they are very different in terms of personality and ethics, the two share a mutual trust in each other and in the power of the elements.
