Creating Your PC

Creating Your PC 01.png

Whether you've come here with a really clear idea of what you want to play, or you're just not sure - there are steps you'll need to go through in order to create your character. This section of the Wiki is here to help you every step of the way - so lets begin.

Creating Your Account

Once you've decided to join, you should register with the site for a new account. This account name should be your character name, as it is with this account that you will post with this PC. If you create an account with a name which isn't your PC name or you change your mind during the process of character creation, don't worry! Just pop a post in the Prophet Support Forum (PSF) here and ask for a name change. We can deal with that quickly and easily!

Read Your Welcome PM!

When you join the site and create a new account, as soon as you've confirmed your email address, you'll be sent a Welcome Private Message (PM) from an account named "Standing Trials". This PM has a number of bits of useful information in it, but most important right now is the link to your Character Sheet (CS). When you joined, a CS template was created for you and posted, by your user account, in the correct forum. Follow that link and you'll see the thread in question - it's title is your account name.

So, now you know where you're creating your PC, it's time to get started.

Take It A Section At A Time

Creating your PC is a step by step task which allows you to craft the character. This guide helps you to fill in that CS one step at a time.

Rules To Be Aware Of

Like anywhere, Standing Trials has a number of rules which we expect our players to be aware of. You need to be aware of the Terms of Use and also note the rules regarding types of thread, types of moderation, etc. You may not begin to post IC until you have completed a "Basic CS" but once you have, you're good to start.

Steps To Creating Your CS

Creating your CS happens in 2 stages. There's the "Basic CS" needed to begin writing. As long as you have filled this in, you are free to begin posting. The "Full CS" must be completed before you submit your fifth thread for grading. We'll take you through both here!

Basic CS

This is all you need to get started! This system has been automated so you can do this with just a few clicks!

All PCs start with 6 skills. 2 Competent, 3 Novice + 1 Racial Bonus. You also have the knowledge needed. The two Competent skills are non-magical skills, but the Novice can be magic.

  • You will have already chosen your race. Here's a guide to help, if you haven't
  • Go to your User Control Panel (UCP). If you aren't sure what that is / where it is - check out this guide
  • In the "character" tab (where you are taken automatically), go to the "Rewards" section on the left-hand side.
  • Claim the "Starter Package" reward, which will take you step by step.
  • Once that has been done, press "Claim" and your Skills, Knowledge and Wealth Points ( information on Wealth ) will be automatically assigned.
  • You will also have been automatically assigned Knowledge for your skills.
    • Guide to Skill Knowledge
    • What can you assume you know? Common Knowledge ~ please note that this will also tell you which famous PCs you might know of (helpful for RP purposes!)

Once you've done that, you're good to go!

Then, it's time to determine your Starting Location. With so many wonderful and interesting places to choose from, where will your character begin their story?

Full CS

Once you've been playing a while (within your first five completed threads) you need to submit your Full CS for approval. This will mean that you get a Character Wiki (a wiki page recording your PCs feats and achievements) and you get Approval Rewards.

The Full CS is the CS created in this forum when you joined and it adds the following information:

Step Information
What about religion? Does your PC worship or hate the Immortals? Might they carry a Blessing or Curse already?
A mage? Is your PC a mage? If so, what kind?
Starting Renown A system we have which measures how famous / well known you are.
NPCs? Do you need to, or want to, apply for NPCs? Find out here.
Slave or owner? If you are playing a slave or a slave owner, you'll need to read this.
Completion & Approval What to do once you've completed your CS

Enjoy the process of creating your character and remember, there is always help available, should you need or want it.
