History

"We live in the shadows so that evil may have no place to hide."

One of the souls that Ethelynda kept protected after the end of the Originals War and returned to Idalos when Ethelynda released them, Kuvarakh's soul found sustenance in the shadows of the deep places of Idalos, as well as from the toxins that resided in plants and animals alike as it traveled through the deepest caves of Idalos.

Eventually, this fledgling soul was drawn to an area filled with concentrated darkness, the underground city of Augiery. However, the protective nature of the Draconic soul was utterly repulsed by the cruelty of the Naer and the malice of Audrae. Despite this, however, the soul drank deeply of the well of fear that permeated the place, and of the courage of those brave few who stood against the evils of Augiery, for it was the nature of this soul to draw strength from fear and courage alike.

In time, the soul settled in the caves near Augiery, waiting as its new body and identity grew. Eventually, Kuvarakh was fully grown, and in time he was awoken by the machinations of Kata, the Immortal of Ruin and Insanity. Upon his awakening, Kuvarakh took his Dragonlings and Dragonets and moved to the caverns that had openings near the Martyr's Landing area, where he and his could hunt evil both above and below ground.

The Shadow of Courage has awoken, and he is determined that the darkness will no longer be a place for those who would prey on the innocent to hide.

Personality

Kuvarakh is a layered being, though not necessarily one that's hard to understand. He believes in the power of selfless courage, and his main goal is to protect the innocent and prevent unnecessary suffering. However, his methods are rather different than most who believe in such noble ideals, for he does not practice them himself. Kuvarakh relies on fear, subterfuge, and toxins to deal with his enemies, believing that such methods will make evil people as scared of the dark as they are of the light, thus depriving them of the safety of the shadows and forcing them more into the open, where they're easier to deal with.

At first glance, Kuvarakh is an irritable, aggressive, and antisocial dragon. He prefers not to deal with random people unless he has to, and people that strike him as being stupid, foolish, or selfish will almost immediately kindle his temper and be driven away, as he has no patience.

Underneath that, however, is a relatively gentle-hearted Dragon who feels a great deal of sympathy for those who suffer and will show kindness to them, despite his usually short temper. Kuvarakh is aware of how dark and terrible the things he does can seem to most people, and makes no apologies for it. When it comes time to deal with evil people, Kuvarakh relies on stealth and other underhanded tactics, such as ambushes or poisonings. He generally likes to strike at the supply lines or caravans of his enemies.

Appearance

Kuvarakh, put simply, looks like a monster. He has dark black scales and what look like cracks all over his body that constantly emit a sickly green light. He likewise lacks lips, with his fangs exposed and the same green light coming from inside his mouth. His eyes constantly glow the same shade of green as well, and he has sharp black horns and a row of black spikes running down his back.

His wings have the same cracks as his body, and constantly leave behind a trail of green light, as if he turns the very light itself poisonous for a moment with their passage. His claws drip a light green liquid that can, at his will, be either harmless or toxic, but always looks harmful. He is fully quadrupedal and is 20 feet tall at the shoulder, 40 feet long from the tip of his snout to his tail, the latter of which makes up a full half his body length, and he has a 30 foot wingspan. Owing to his preferred dwelling place of dark caves, often the first thing people will see of Kuvarakh is the green light that he gives off.

Kuvarakh rarely visits cities, as they are too crowded and illuminated for his liking. If he needs to visit someone in a city, he will often go to the closest cavern and ask them to come to him.
