Guest Story Telling

Introduction

Guest Storytelling (GST) is a thread where a player "runs" a story for an individual or a group. It is something that we strongly encourage and can be a lot of fun! In order to help our GSTs, here are some basic rules and guidelines.

What GST is

It's running a thread (or series of threads) for a pc (or pcs) which has no impact on your PC in any way. You may not use personal NPCs or your own PC in this.

What GST is not

It may be that, for example, one of your personal NPCs might be in a thread with another player in a different city. While we don't encourage this (see rules on NPCs) we understand it does happen. In that case, this is a cameo appearance by an NPC. Your PC can not gain any XP or Knowledge for a thread they aren't in, but the story told may impact your pc. This circumstance is not GSTing.

What's the Process?

If you're going to GST by running an open thread then you need to follow these steps:

  • Contact the city mod where the GST thread will be run with an outline of a plot.
  • Once they have approved that plot - then you can either get people to sign up or start it!
  • PM the link to the city mod
  • Ensure that you discuss any amendments / issues you have throughout the GST
  • Have fun!

However, if you're going to GST as part of our on site GST Forum then you should follow the processes there.

What are the limits?

Many of the limits are the same as for any collaborative thread.

  • GSTs may not use any of the Immortals
  • GST is telling a story for others and does not include your PC.
  • The story can not advantage or impact your PC directly or indirectly.

What about the review?

If you are a peer reviewer, then you may of course review the thread yourself. If not, the city mod would usually do so. Either way - any exceptional rewards should be agreed with the city mod before the review is posted.

GSTing in a non-modded locations

What if your GST is in the wilderness? A non-modded city? On a boat? That's fine - instead of contacting the city mod - either contact the nearest city mod, or post in the PSF. We'll be happy to help. If you want to PM so players don't see your plot, that's fine too!
