Personality

General Traits

Atoner: Ralaith joined with Faldrun against Mortals after Daia’s death, and he very much regrets having let his grief push him to such evil. Many of his more modern actions can be traced to his desire to atone for this.

Grief Stricken: While he is no longer weighed down by Daia’s death thanks to her revival, he still mourns the death of his creator and finds it difficult to let go of his grief, though he always strives to find healthy ways to deal with it, rather than lash out blindly.

Philospher: Befitting the Immortal of Wisdom, Ralaith is a thoughtful sort, always looking to learn more about how best to improve himself and help the world. While not the most overtly knowledgeable of the Immortals, Ralaith often arrives at conclusions that others missed because they were too focused on what they could do, rather than what they should do.

Shy: Ralaith is not particularly great at social situations and prefers to keep a distance between himself and others. Even after his revival, he still has trouble keeping a long conversation with Daia, who he still loves.

Strengths

Time Master: Ralaith is the Immortal of Time, and thus is one of the very few beings with the ability to move through time itself. This alone confers to him a great amount of power, though he prefers to use it for studying and has generally maintaining that trying to change the flow of time could be disastrous.

Grumpy Old Bear: Ralaith’s Bears Domain is a rather odd one, but it does let him turn into a bear, which makes him personally dangerous even outside his time manipulation powers.

Wise Hermit: Ralaith may be withdrawn, but he has managed to learn a great deal about Mortal and Immortal nature, the various supernatural rules of Idalos, and the workings of both heart and mind, giving him a depth of wisdom that even many of his peers find surprising.

Weaknesses

Weak Fighter: Ralaith is more of a thinker than anything else and so despite his time powers and ability to turn into a bear, he’s rather weak by Immortal standards in a fight, usually relying on the former to help him escape from a fight and on the latter should escape prove impossible.

Social Recluse: As Ralaith generally prefers to sequester himself in order to further his studies, he’s really rather poor at social situations. He particularly doesn’t do well with large, loud gatherings such as parties or sporting events.

Overly Gentle: Ralaith knows better than most the kind of stupid decisions people can make when they’re in the throes of grief, and so he’s often overly gentle and patient with those that are struggling with their own grief, even if they’re doing something monumentally dangerous or stupid.

Personality and Verbal Tics

Old Man: While Ralaith can change his appearance at will, he prefers to make himself look like an older man. He claims this fits his general demeanor, personality, and Domains better than the younger looking forms many of his peers take.

Soft Spoken: Ralaith very rarely raises his voice or speaks in a coarse manner, instead preferring a more thoughtful and sensitive approach to dialogue. For someone to rouse Ralaith so much as to cause him to snap at them, they must have been very foolish indeed.

Professorial Look: While his fondness for looking like an old man is one thing, his habit of dressing like an old, slightly out of touch history professor is quite another. No one is ever certain how intentional it is that his clothes always look slightly out of date.

Non-Rambler: While he may look old, Ralaith has not adopted the habit of rambling on and on for hours at a time. Ralaith much prefers to stay on-topic and be as clear and concise as he can.

History

One of the children of Pieren, Ralaith was always one of the shier and more withdrawn Immortals, prefering to distance himself from the rest of his kin and live alone. However, despite this attitude, he developed strong feelings for Daia, the Immortal of Companionship, eventually falling in love with her. Despite how he felt, Ralaith could not bring himself to approach her, and watched her silently from afar. When Daia brought news of the human race, Ralaith was as surprised as the rest of their siblings, but instead of panicking, he went to go study them in his own way.

As time passed, he occasionally checked on Daia, always happy to see that she was well. And then the day came when he went see her, determined to finally confess his love to her, only to find that had been killed. Grief, loss, and bitterness consumed him and for a time he was mad with pain and loss, blaming the humans as a whole for her death, whether they had anything to do with it or not, and lashing out with an almost reckless abandon.

However, at one point he found a small tribe in the Uzkernia Jungle, desperate for survival and barely able to hang on in the hostile environment they lived in. However, despite their hardships, they cared deeply for each other, and in that moment, Ralaith was reminded of how much Daia had cared for humans and how disappointed in him she would have been. After a moments hesitation, he took the small tribe under his lead and showed them how to survive and prosper in the jungle, becoming very much like a teacher to them. Still being fairly withdrawn, Ralaith only very recently found out that war had erupted between the Immortals over the mortals of Idalos, and has joined the fray on the side of those who would protect the mortals out of respect for the memory of his beloved Daia.

Ralaith is on the side of the Mortals, though he rarely interacts with his allies.

Appearance

Ralaith appears as an impeccably dressed middle aged man with a stern and sorrowful countenance, usually carrying a book of some sort. Very calm and quiet, Ralaith isn't easily excitable and prefers discussion to combat. However, when angered he is difficult to calm down. In addition, he can be a bit arrogant to the more violent and rash Immortals.

Memories of the Past

Ralaith looks upon his creator as having been strict but fair with him and remembers him fondly despite the fact that they weren't particularly close, due to Ralaith's withdrawn nature.

Presently

Believed to be in Strosdyn, acting as a teacher to the Mortals there.
