Parry & Riposte

A Shield Capstone of Praetorum this capstone does the following:

Parry & Riposte: After catching a melee attack on his shield, Praetorum is now able to consistently force his opponent off balance by parrying, making an opening for himself or an ally to attack. His own ability to utilize this opening is unchanged by this capstone, and while Prae is parrying one attack, he cannot use that shield to defend against other attacks made at that same time.

The weapon skill of an opponent affects the efficacy of this skill: broadly speaking, a novice will lose their weapon and balance entirely, a competent opponent will stumble and leave themselves wide open for a time, an expert will stagger and recover their balance within several seconds, a master and above will be able to stand their ground and make openings of a second or less, and an opponent whose weapon skill is equal to or higher than Praetorum's shield skill will be able to avoid making an opening at all.

This capstone applies to all shield types.

Note: This capstone does NOT work with Prae's Turtle Shell capstone.
