Category:Desnind Location Tosibeere River
Information
The waters of the Toṣïbẹẹrẹ Whakamātao, often shortened to be simply the Toṣïbẹẹrẹ are almost always clear and crisp, and reliably safe to drink. The beginning of the river sprouts from an underwater spring, that travels 3 to 4 miles from Desnind. On top of that, a bend of it can be found only about fifteen bits out of Desnind. It is one of the first place children growing up in Desnind are allowed without adult supervision, though still not usually alone. It is a popular place particularly on hot, muggy days when one can often find Sev'ryn there dipping their toes.
While it tends to be fairly clear of predators, both because of its closeness to Desnind as well as the Hunters efforts, some look to less mundane reason for the safety usually found along its banks. That said, other than the Ojọgbọn, no where within the Makubwa Lori can truly be said to be safe, and encounters with local wildlife are always a possibility, if a slim one.
Gentle miniature waterfalls and deeper pools for paddling can be found along it's length, the majority of the Toṣïbẹẹrẹ is only about shin deep on an average humanoid adult however. Though a few fish frequent it, most are too small to be worth fishing, so dedicated fisherman and those looking to fill their bellies usually look elsewhere.
The Legend
Some believe that back when Desnind was new, other than the sea which was too salty to drink, the only river close to Desnind rushed and roared, deep and fast and dangerous. Many Sev'ryn were claimed by its embrace trying to fill their waterskins. One day a young boy went to fetch water for his family. He leaned too far in and lost his balance, falling in and being swept away. It is said that rather than being reincarnated, his spirit chose to stay with and tame the river, making it safe for his people and for other children. The Toṣïbẹẹrẹ Whakamātao was named in his honor, it could be translated into common roughly as Little Water Child.
