Welcome to the Iulure Isles.

The Iulure’s history dates back before the emergence of the humans. A couple of the islands were originally inhabited by the Shay. The island of Iulure itself was originally a base for one of the dragon. The isles became a center for the resistance against the Originals and Immortals. Eventually though the island became the last stronghold for the Dragons. At this time The Great Serpent and her parent Original made a deal with the dragons and together they and the dragons raised the islands into the sky.

The dragons settled into a healing peace after the chaos and turmoil of the War with the Originals. As time went along the four Dragons recovered and began to grow a bit restless. It was at about this time that the Originals shattered and in the chaos of that shattering humans emerged. Unlike the Immortals who were fairly traumatized by the shattering, the Dragons, while they sensed something had happened, weren't distracted and noticed the human right away. The dragons didn’t actually say anything but instead watched for a while.

The dragons found the humans worthy of attention and so revealed themselves to mortals. The dragons quickly realized that the race would be doomed among the floating islands with the way they were. The dragons taught the humans and encouraged them to learn. They wanted to change the humans but felt that it needed to be asked for. It didn’t take long before the human understood the subtle suggestions of the dragons and asked for the gift of flight.

The Dragons were surprised with what ease the Hyludin ancestors took to the air and set out to explore the ten isles. The dragons watched as the Hyludin formed into tribes and began to build city states. These city states were a ever shifting complex of loss alliances and conflicts. The Hyludin weren’t the only inhabitants of the isles though. Various other creatures, some just original inhabitants, others pets of the dragons, and some resulting mutations from the power used to lift the islands, wandered the isles too. A number of these would cause problems for the budding nation. So conflicts occurred between the various factions but do to the difficulty of traveling from island to island wars were avoided.

It was during this time that iron was discovered which helped turn the tide against the more powerful creatures which liked to snack on the Hyludin. After a couple hundred years as the Immortals wars ragged on the world below a young man named Varagort Celafairsa became dissatisfied and went on to become hermit of sorts. At some point he made contact with each of the four dragons, and became their disciple, and learned about all the dragons. The dragons had always been revered before that but no mortal had ever become their disciple.

He returned almost a hundred years later to his family. His older brother tried hard to lead the family but while not a failure hadn’t progressed the family much. Varagort with his draconic disciple abilities took over the leadership of the family. Within a short time the various clans on Fairisle had sworn allegiance to Varagort and Celafairsa and he was declared the Protector of Fairisle. Fairisle twin island Mayenar responded to the unification of the Fairisle with war. While conflict between islands had existed before this was the first true war among the islands. Fairisle was surprised by the attack but not unprepared.

It was during this war that the inventor Tequeso made his first appearance. Native to Mayenar he was conscripted into the unified tribes army. It was his inventions that helped counter Varagort’s abilities and the island's unity. In the end the disunity of Mayenar’s tribes was their undoing and lead to Tequeso being captured by Fairisle. The war between the two islands came to an end, but only because the tribes of Mayenar fell into fighting as each tribe tried to unite the island. Ceriline, the most densely populated island, found conflicts increasing at this time. The leaders of the most powerful tribes actually did something surprising and approached Varagort to take over as Protector of their island as well.

Varagort accepted the governorship of the island. He also backed Tequeso and his inventions and so it was that the Fairisle-Ceriline Alliance was the first to begin to benefit from the spirit based technology he produced. As war continued to wage on Mayenar the Alliance formed the Paladins to guard against the spread of the war onto Fairisle. Conflicts became more common on the other islands as other tribes tried to unify their island. The only successful unification was on Danevarkar, but it was unified by what would later be called the Barrier Guards.

In Varagort’s later arcs the monsters who had been quiet attacked the islands. The initial attack was a slaughter on all the islands save for Fairisle, Ceriline, Danevarkar and Iulure itself. Varagort’s paladins and their tech united with the Border Guards and together they drove back the monsters to Pelnau, Takoravin and parts of Ennoydas.

The ten islands united after this conflict as the dragons stepped forwards, for the first time, and offered their support. Varagort was declared Sovereign of the Iulure. Despite the Dragon’s support things weren’t fully settled. Varagort created the Assembly of the Islands. For the rest of Varagort’s reign things were peaceful.

His Grandson became the next Sovereign and his reign was peaceful for only a short time before the independent nature of the Hyludin reared its head on Balorida and Alorida. By this point other power structures besides the families had begun to emerge. The Barrier Guard had stepped out of its role as Protectors of Danevarkar and instead became the military branch of the nation. Foremost protecting against monsters and with this rebellion handling rebels. The Sovereign’s Paladins were also in place helping to keep the peace. In addition, the Cults of the Dragons had begun to form. It was during this rebellion that the Assembly of the Dragons was formed.

The House of Tequeso, which was a guild of inventors and scientists, made the rebellions very ineffective. Taking the same tactics as what they used against the monsters, the Guard were merciless in their put down of the rebellions. Much to the horror of Sovereign and his government the two islands were left as burned husks of their former selves. The rebellion was at an end but now the Guard tried to stage a coup when the Sovereign brought them to account. The coup was stopped due to the House of Tequeso sabotaging their own technology that they had supplied to the Guard. The Paladin Guards loyalty and the powers of the Dragon cult backed the Sovernign. Lastly about half of the guard turned against their own leaders when they realized the coup was going on.
After the conflict was settled, Balorida and Alorida were rebuilt and each was made the home of a unique tree which eventually became the primary resources of the islands.. Balorida because the home of the wood used for the air ships. Alorida became home to the iron trees. Peace continued for the rest of the Sovereign’s reign. Towards the end of his reign he set up the Assembly of the Houses as he could see similar unrest appearing.

The nation continued throughout the centuries. Due to the independent nature of the Iulure conflict was to be expected but usually it was kept fairly calm until it reached a point where the population on the islands was taking up critical land needed to feed the nation. Airship had been making travel between the isles possible for centuries, but the House of Tesqueso was ordered by the Sovereign to take them to the next step. He wanted the cities and homes of the people to be taken to the air. It took a good fifty arcs but eventually they came out with the first floating homes. It would take the rest of the Soverign’s reign and most of his grandson’s to master it enough to move the great cities into the air and reclaim the lands for farms and orchards.

The centuries have continued until the current arcs. The Iulure islands, due to the barrier, was separated from the world, but they were curious about the world beyond. Talk was constant about allowing explores to go into the world. It wasn't until the Cults and the Dragons felt the release of the none island dragons. It was at that point that the Assembly of Dragons, with backing of the dragons was able to convince the Sovereign and the other Assemblies that it was time
