Although still somewhat new to the position, there were certain things Leeson could immediately acclimate to. He figured he was somewhat adept with people. He was confident enough to be, anyway. He could be friendly, he loved to travel. That's fine.
But usually, when he traveled, he would travel for an hour or two at most and then go home.
The trip to Krome took four trials.
And Leeson was growing to hate sleeping on the ground.
At long last, however, an absolutely tired Leeson could see the gates of Krome's Cairnroch in sight from his carriage window, thank the spirits above. His ass was killing him.
It was a nice day, though. Which was kind to Leeson's attitude. Of course, he hadn't disliked the journey per se. The weather had been forgiving, at least. And it was largely uneventful with no major interruptions.
He was hoping his visit to Krome would not be the factor which ruins his day.
For a long while, the relationship between Andaris and Krome had been somewhat rocky. For a long while, in fact. Far longer than Leeson had been alive. The cultural differences between the two could not be greater. As is custom, since Leeson is the guest, efforts would typically be made to appease his sensibilities. However, knowing how the Krome clan typically operates, Leeson was fully prepared to be wholly uncomfortable.
As the carriage came to a stop, Leeson straightened out his attire, making sure to appear presentable. He waited for his driver to open the door and announce his presence, a practice he had grown accustomed to but never really much appreciated.
He wasn't sure what to expect. He knew that a member of the Krome family would be introducing him to the land, but that's all the information he had. His mission was solely to improve relations, whatever that meant.
He heard the door click.
"Baron Leeson Marillion Andaris, thirdborn of Duke Benji Andaris and Mary Andaris, Great Lord of Rynmere." He heard the driver announce.
Leeson stepped out of the carriage, facing the welcome party in front of the gates.
"Hi," he said. "You can just call me Leeson."
