Isonomia

The state of political equality for all

History
This faction was born from friendship and a sense of injustice in the world. Seeking to do right and extending from extensive charity work Isonomia was born out of a need to help those less fortunate. The idea for it began in Rynmere, but came to fruition in Scalvoris. It was on this remote island that the first of the factions outposts was built. Cally’s, a high end restaurant funds a Social Enterprise. Profits from Cally’s fund a project which provides housing, food, medical care, education and training to the most needy in Scalvoris. The “trainees” are given somewhere to live and, whilst being fed, kept warm and given medical care, they are trained in a trade. Cally’s has a vineyard, livestock and produce farms and an orphanage associated with it.

The purpose behind this was that people with money and prestige pay money for exquisite food and that funds a charity. The aim is that it grows and eventually poverty is a thing of the past.

The Headquarters for this faction is the office in Cally's Restaurant, Scalvoris.
There is also a regional faction HQ in Rharne.

Ideology
Isonomia has the basic ideology that injustice and poverty should be stood against. More than that, this faction believes in action over rhetoric, and the eradication of poverty without violence.

Beliefs
Isonomia believes in action to eradicate poverty. Slavery is considered to be the ultimate expression of poverty and, as such, should be made illegal. Education is key to this endeavor.

Furthermore, the belief is that people should be offered assistance to become independent. The provision of education and training is undertaken in order to give the individuals the skills to care for themselves as well as the ability to function in, and contribute to, society.

Having been freed as a slave in Vhalar 716, Faith is the founder and owner of Cally's and the Social Enterprise behind it. She is devoted to serving those in need and was driven to start up her various charity endeavours because of this drive.

He has no interest in the book-learning or deep thinking which he finds himself surrounded by in Eureka but, as he crafts things with his hands, he finds a kind of solace which is difficult to beat. Captain Calliapy Capsworth, or Captain Clip to those that have served under her, is a weather-worn, salty sea dog/rat of the most genuine kind. Having literally spent her life on the water, she can barely manage to walk on land without looking like a drunkard and knows the waves like they were her own feathers.

After a long life of navigating the dangerous seas of Dream and then Idalos, she settled, reluctantly into a life as a recycler of old experiences in the form of an (almost adequate) tutor at Saiore's Dream.

Gruff and demanding as both a captain and a tutor, the captain is not the most popular of her peers, though running through the core of this battle-beaten pirate hating parrot, is a heart in love with her patron. While she might let people believe she was convinced to stay with the promise of recompense, being close to Saoire was for her, a blessing she counted in the quiet nights that passed.

Determined to avoid letting the pirates that so brasonly attacked her home and patron from getting a second shot without a good fight, it would be almost impossible to convince her to leave... Almost.

Appearance

This parrot Cadouri stands around 5 foot 2 inches tall and is covered in scars from beaked head to clawed toe. Broad and brightly coloured, she wears her captains hat with pride, night and day.

Abstract Speciality: Unarmed Combat
Brief Description and Personality: Slightly hunched as she stands, this Rat Cadouri has short, rough, brown hair and keen, dark eyes. She has a tendency to appear meek and small in her demeanor, as well as her stature, but is in fact quite capable when pressed to task.

Having found a calling with the Monks of the Monastery of the Calming Waves, she is currently acting journeywoman aboard the Isonomia fleet after not only being rescued from certain death by Winston and Agustus, but introduced to the Monastic group she now calls her own at their hand.

Considering that she owes her life to the cause followed by Isonomia, she has set out to follow her Monastic vows in service of Isonomia, in the hope that she can do for someone some trial, what was done for her.

She is friendly and defferential to a fault in every way but to be at the cost of another sole. It would be with great regret she broke a law, or did harm of any kind to another, but if for the sake of an innocent, she would stand for the cause at the cost of all.

Destined for a life 'exploring the books of commerce' in her father's business, she hid away in Saoire's Dream, 'failing' her education and extra curricular studies for over an arc before she was approached by Winston to join his crew.

Her true passion was no different than the rest of her people, only her proclivities deviated from her father's passions. As such, her burning desire to see the world of Idals and explore new shores and distant lands compelled her to jump at the chance to work aboard not only a ship, but a magical one on clandestined missions across the seas, far and wide.

Appearance

She fits comfortably into the seafaring lifestyle with her blue, short-cropped hair, pale blue skin and seafaring garb. Never found without a scroll or two holding maps and notes of what she most recently found or studied, the woman stands a clear 6 foot 1 inch.

Diplomatic Introductions and Assistance from the Scalvoris Council: Should any ranking Member of Isonomia require introduction to a foreign government, the Scalvoris Council will provide a letter of introduction for them, or if needed, send a representative to introduce them to the proper authorities. Additionally, the Council has agreed to provide diplomatic assistance as needed on a case by case basis when possible.

Scalvoris Military Escort: Should any Mmember require transport from Scalvoris to a foreign country, the Elements will provide transport for them. Additionally, if given enough notice, the Elements will also provide transportation from abroad to Scalvoris.

Volunteers' Boon (ScalvTown): Word of Isonomia's efforts has spread heavily across Scalvoris. As such, within Scalvoris Town, Isonomia has acquired 60 new nameless Supporters. These do not contribute to Renown level, have no skill level to speak of, so they cannot be improved upon by seasonal use. These are simply background volunteers to help with larger projects when more hands are needed. As Maltruism said (as I modeled this after his statements on a similar subject), think of them as Star Trek red shirts, but ya know... peaceful.

Volunteers' Boon (Almund, Egilrun, Havardr, Gunvorton, Darbyton): Word of Isonomia's efforts has spread heavily across Scalvoris. As such, many people in the Almund and the outlying villages have expressed a desire to help, and bring Isonomia's influence to their homes. Should a ranking Member (PC) head to these towns, they will find recruitment a bit easier. Additionally, doing this follow up will allow for 1 Personal NPC Member, per town, to be added to the Member List of Isonomia at the completion of the recruitment thread, as well as 10 nameless Supporters for Almund, and 5 nameless Supporters for each of the other villages. Contact Aegis or another Scalvoris Mod (not Pegasus, obviously) upon completion of one of these threads.

This beautiful, rainbow coloured, Masterwork Brig is a large vessel with two square-rigged masts that is designed for movement. Known for their speed and maneuverability, these brigs are the fastest on the seas with magical propulsion systems that allow them to move not only without a breeze, but into the wind with the sails down, allowing it to out-maneuver anything else on the sea.

Giving off a dusting of glitter as it cuts through the water, it is a breathtaking sight to see and an icon of hope inside the Isonomian fleet.

By means of magic and fine craftsmanship, the ship can cut through the waters to make its escape with unfathomable agility and co-ordinates itself with the use of
Holo-coms
to allow them to co-operate as a fleet. In addition to this, it has powerful decoys that can be summoned in the form of entire holographic copies of itself, to draw fire and misdirect the enemy.

These ships are made of alchemical Pheonix Wood, giving it their usually Rainbow-coloured appearance, however, they are also able to cloak, blending into their surroundings as needed (bestowing +1 Stealth Competence to the ships as a whole).

With their hulls as hard as metal and fire resistant, there is little capable of taking them down even if they did some how manage to catch them adrift.

Ship Stats

  • Type: Brig
  • Crew Requirement: 12 - 16
  • Passengers: 60 max
  • Speed: As the fasted ship in its class (which a Brig is written to be), it is very fast, even for a Brig.

General Powers

The ships has the following general powers/properties:
  • Fire resistant as per the Phoenix wood it is made of.
  • The sails are also fire resistant.
  • The ship's hull is as hard as Steel.

Power: Cloaking

The ship can activate a cloaking ability that makes it blend into its surrounding as per the properties of Minithelite. This bestows the entire ship with a +1 Competence in Stealth, which would stack with any attempts being made by a skilled navigator to avoid detection.

Notes:
  • Lasts up to half a trial with a single activation.
  • Unless used more frequently then every other trial (on average), it only requires recharging once every 1-2 Arcs with a single measure of reagents.

Power: Propulsion

The ship can of course travel by sail and usually does under normal circumstance, however, it also has two additional methods of propulsion to allow it to move both more quickly and more smoothly through the water.

Seawell Propulsion: The ship is equipped with two Class 4 Seawells, designed to act as thrusters to push the ship forward in the water.

Notes:
  • Requires Ensorcelling (Competent) or Meditation (Competent) to operate.
  • As long as the wells are not pushed beyond their limits, they can operate for many breaks on a single activation and can be activated several times a day.


Riptide: It is possible to active a slipstream, which uses Defiance (Riptide) magic along the underside of the ship to move the ship through even rough waves as if smooth sailing. This is activated by way of oars that must be operated on either side of the ship. They take no particular effort to move and don't even touch the water, but the rythmic motion of the ors is required to encourage the water to play.

Notes:
  • The aors must be in motion or the ability will stop working.
  • Lasts up to half a trial with a single activation.
  • Unless used more frequently then every other trial (on average), it only requires recharging once every 1-2 Arcs with a single measure of reagents.

Power: Mirages

The ship can project up to 2 mirages of itself using devices mounted in the center of the craft that project the image of the entire ship, crew and all, in whatever states they happen to be in at any moment in time, out to a location losely chosen by the operators of the devices. The projection will include everything within a bubble around the device that covers the entire ship. Everything within this bubble is projected to the targeted location.

Note: This projection is not infallible, but at a distance the ships all look identical. Even so, small details could be used to separate the holograms from the real article over time. Things like waves in the water or birds entering or leaving the bubble over time would be a classic example, but require a little time to study, assuming the observer has the requisite Detection skills.

Notes:
  • Max range: Half a kilometer.
  • Each device must be operated by a single person.
  • Requires Ensorcelling (Competent) or Meditation (Competent) to operate.
  • Operates for many breaks on a single activation and can be activated several times a day.
