Starter Quest

To truly be a treasure hunter, one must have a treasure to hunt. It would be in the best interest of Azrael's coin purse that he find one soon. Azrael has heard of a rumor in from the next town on his journey of a nice size treasure in the wilderness surrounding the town. It will be up to him to track down the clues and locate it before anyone else does.

Mortalborn Parent Story

The sound of drums beating and horns blaring filled the air as the dance went underway. People danced wildly, flailing their arms and legs with little care. They pressed against each other and felt the collective warmth of the sound and the beat of the drums guided them in their flailing, but it did not guide Silas. He weaved through the flailing dancers in the main hall and slipped into the courtyard garden. His hand slowly slipped back to the dagger hiding at the back of his belt as he saw her sitting there in the gazebo. Her back was towards him and she seemed to be removing her left earring as he began walking towards her. As he drew closer her beauty became more pronounced, and more alluring. His fingers wrapped around the hilt of his dagger and Silas came to a stop a few feet from the gazebo, the woman still seeming not to notice him. Silas went to take another step forward but found himself unable to. He was struck so fully by her beauty that he couldn't find the will to do what he had been sent to do.

The woman slowly peeled off her bracelets and set them beside her earrings on the gazebo bench. "Well come on, I don't want to wait all night." Her voice called to him softly. He stepped forward, one foot and then the other until he found himself standing on the gazebo in front of the sitting mistress. She'd just removed the last of her jewelry and her hands had gone back to the loosely tied laces at the back of her dress. "Could you lend me a hand?" She turned her back to him again and when he hesitated, the woman scooted back slightly to press against the assassin. "I can't reach."

Silas unsheathed the dagger but for the first time he felt his hand shaking. "Come now, assassin, I paid you well for this." Suddenly his aros- confusion turned to panic and Silas stepped back but the woman did not flinch or move. She waited and he knew what she was waiting for. Silas stepped forward with his blade in hand and reached out. He slowly severed the laces holding the woman's dress and when she turned, she held the front to keep it from falling. The dress left little to the imagination as it had been, now it threatened to make Silas faint.

"Tell me now, assassin, is your love truly more beautiful than I?" The Immortal slid forwards gracefully and placed a gentle hand on Silas's chest. He remembered the words he'd spoken to his purple eye'd love. He'd said many a time she was more beautiful than even the Immortal... Edasha... who he found standing before him. "If so, feel free to return to her... otherwise..." Edasha let her arm fall to her side, and he dress fall to the floor... and Silas's faith broke.

In the morning the Immortal stroked his hair gently and whispered a final curse in his ear. "This time, you will remember real beauty... or at least you will remember what you did." And so he was cursed, with Azrael.

Desire

Heart's Want

At will Azrael can compel an individual with a lower discipline skill than himself to reveal a secret desire to him once eye contact has been established. The secret- of the other players own choosing/creation- can range from a deeply embarrassing desire to a slight want depending on the other players discipline skill. At equal discipline another player would be able to resist unless otherwise impaired (intoxicated/ drugged by something that would make them suggestible.) At each level lower than Azrael in the other players discipline, the severity of the secret should increase- though the secret is still ultimately up to the other player.

One per trial Azrael can go a step further and compel an individual of a lower discipline level to act on their secret desire. Once he has compelled an individual to act on a secret desire he will be unable to compel anyone else to reveal a secret want for twelve breaks. When Azrael reaches competent in persuasion he will no longer need to establish eye contact in order to compel an individual to reveal or act on their desire, they simply need to be looking at him.

Pacts

Pacts: The Unbreakable Vow

A deal made in good faith with Azrael is a pact that should not be willfully broken. Those who intentionally try to go back on their word find themselves experiencing a lack of libido, making them unwilling and uninterested in doing anything other than fulfill their end of the agreement. Should an individual continue with their intention to break the pact, then their health will begin a steady decline after a season passes. Each season after that they will grow more and more sick until they rededicate themselves to fulfilling their end of the bargain. The sickness is never lethal on its own however it is highly debilitating. Individuals who went back on their word that have changed their heart and are acting towards fulfilling their agreement would find the sickness that grew over seasons reversed within a single trial.

The ability works the same way for Azrael and should he go back on his word- which he claims never to do- he would experience the same setbacks. However what sets Azrael apart from the people he makes the deals with is what happens to him after the pact is made. Once Azrael has made an agreement with someone he begins to experience a frequency very similar to an Attuner dowsing and the frequency leads Azrael to whatever he needs to fulfill his end of the bargain. This allows Azrael to offer things he does not have with some certainty that he will be able to get it for them.

Only pacts made in good faith with Azrael are subject to this ability. If either party in the agreement is seeking to deceive the other the agreement will not be binding. Because Azrael recieves an attunement like radar to help him fulfill his end of the bargain when the pact in sealed, he can also tell when an individual is making false promises.

Pacts: Bond-Maker

As a result of his relationship with the Dark Mother, when Azrael's domain expands it leans into the agreement that they had made. At will, Azrael can create temporary bonds between spirits he is aware of and people, including himself. This bond is based on an agreement (or pact) between the two and allows the bonded person to summon the spirit in times of need so that it can assist using abilities related to its concept. A fire anak could help control or encourage a fire, a wind anak could help direct or locate winds, etc. Diri and higher class spirits who would have larger impacts than anaks follow Spirit Primer rules and must go through the PSF before use. In return for their aid, the spirit will always return and express a need for help by the end of the arc. The magnitude of aid provided by the spirit determines the magnitude of the aid they ask for to fulfill their purpose or satisfy their concept. Should an individual turn their back on the agreement made with the spirit, they experience the full force of The Unbreakable Vow immediately. Once the request has been fulfilled, the bond is broken and a new agreement must be made.

Guilt

See What You've Done

Whenever Azrael touches an individual he can inflict them with a vision of their past- which manifests in a manner of the other player’s own choosing. The visions always captures the victims attention immediately in some way and while it does not makes them forget Azrael, it always pulls the victim’s immediate focus to the vision. Those with higher discipline than Azrael are often more successful at resisting the urge to linger on the guilty vision but those with lower discipline skill can still be shaken from the vision by external sources (loud noises, being shaken, be touched by someone other than Azrael, etc.)

Every time Azrael uses this ability on an individual he experiences the same effects with a slight delay. Typically he experiences his vision when the vision he inflicted the others with ends or some time shortly after. He is able to improve his resistance to the visions through his discipline skill.

Additional Information

Darksight

  • Granted: here
  • The way Azrael perceives light and darkness has changed. Shadows and patches where light is absent are perfectly visible to him. Whereas sources of light will make it more difficult to see where he's going. Essentially light/dark are turned on their head when it comes to the sense of sight.
