Overview

So you are ready for your first review. Excellent! It might seem like a daunting task, but I assure you it's not. There are a couple of things you are going to want to check off and make sure you have squared away before submitting for your review.

Checklist

  • First If this is a solo thread, have you ensured that you've come close to meeting, or exceeding, the suggested 1500 word count?
  • Second Are all posts over 250 words? That's a rule on ST.
  • Third Is your character sheet approved? You can submit five reviews requests before you need to apply for character sheet approval.
  • Fourth Does your character sheet have an updated thread list? Really you just need a thread list that's updated to last cycle, but since this is your first review, it's probably a good idea to get into the habit of keeping this up to date as much as possible.
  • Fifth At the bottom of the thread you'll see a button saying "Request an XP Review". Click that and it will automatically take you to the correct place to apply for a review - and it will automatically load the format for you.
  • Sixth If you've used the BBCode for automatically claiming Knowledge, Loots, and Losses in your thread, you can just press "Submit" and you're done. If you haven't, then you'll need to identify the skills you used in the thread (and their level) and the knowledge you're claiming.
  • Seventh For more information on available BB Code, see this post

Practicalities of Posting

Alright so you've got those situated. Excellent. Now, where do you need to go? Well...I can't give you a direct link to the review request thread, because it no longer exists!

What we can do is show you to the new automated UCP review system, and the button that will submit your thread to the automated queue. At the bottom of your thread you'll see three buttons on the lower left:

Once there, you'll want to fill out the proforma as best you can. Leave alone the coded passage in the middle of the proforma, that is necessary for graders to be able to see and eventually grade your thread!

Most of the rest of the proforma can be altered and filled out as you wish.

The Review Template

The code you have looks a lot like this:

[b]Notes/Warnings:[/b] (Any Notes or warnings? Violence?)
[request-xp=URL]
Renown: (how much and for what?)
Wealth Points: (how many and for what?)
- If you are claiming Wealth Points, please link to your Wealth Thread for this season, as Wealth Points can not be
awarded before this is completed:
Collaboration: (Yes/No)

Thread Name

  • Alright this one is fairly self explanatory. Just the thread name and a link provided. You can get fancy with this and do some BBCoding to "hide" the url like this [url= Your Thread Link Here] Name of thread here [/url] and that'll make a neat little hyperlink with the name of the thread. Hyperlink is a clickable link.

City/Area

  • This one is just looking for where your thread took place. Was it in Scalvoris, or Desnind, or Yaralon? You can be more specific if you'd like, or just give the general area.

Notes/Warings

  • This one is looking for a bit of info on the thread type, and if the reviewer should be wary of any strong/harsh language, or mature themes. Don't have to go into detail here, just a simple statement is enough to suffice.
  • Please be aware Standing Trials accepts players from age 13. If you are writing content which is 18 rated or over you should post in the Adult Forum which you can request access to in the PSF.
  • If your content is more mature than PG13, but is not 18+ then it should be labelled with a "Mature" tag and you should write a brief sentence here. Things like "Mature themes", "Violence" etc, is enough.

Requested Rewards

  • Knowledge - List here your 6 requested knowledge, if this is a solo, and 8 if it is a collab. Check out Types of Thread if you're unsure what that means. If you manage to meet the increased rewards requirements, then feel free to add additional knowledge as is warranted.
    • Additional Knowledge Requirements:
      • Solos: Every post after the tenth earns an extra knowledge, up to a maximum of 15
      • Collaborations: Every post after the third in a collab for a a given player, earns an extra beyond the first 8.
    • This should be listed clearly. An example for how this might look would be:
      • Basketweaving: 4 knowledge
      • Science: 4 knowledge.
    • Using skill code tags, you can have the review request autopopulate those knowledges and skills used if filled in properly. For instance, using the above two examples:
      • [Knowledge skill=Basketweaving level= name=4 knowledge]
      • [Knowledge skill=Science level= name=4 knowledge]
    • If you are requesting Domain Magic the same thing applies, but note that you must specifically request techniques. So, this might look like:
    • Graft (3 knowledge including 1 knowledge "Energizing")
  • Please note that you can't have all of your knowledge in one skill. There has to be some spread, even if it's a 5:1 ratio.
  • Also keep in mind that the knowledges you request do need to pertain to things that happened in the thread. If your character spent the entire thread sitting down, you won't be getting any Running knowledge. Make sense?
  • Loot - Did you make something in your thread, or did you find something? A new bow? Deer antlers? The tongue of a newt? List them here!
  • Injuries - For magic users, your overstepping consequences are here. For non magic users, are you suffering any soreness? Broken bones, deep lacerations, concussions? Those are all listed here. They need to make sense for the thread.
  • Renown - Did you do a deed in which people are talking about it? Blew up a castle and was caught? List how much you think you deserve here, but remember your request needs to follow the Renown Guide.
  • Wealth Points - Chances are this will not apply to your first thread, however I will still discuss what this means for your future reviews. Once you have completed your single wealth thread, you have the ability to earn additional wealth points outside of your seasonal wages. If you think your thread qualifies for earning you additional wealth points, list it here. Also link to your wealth thread in this same spot so the reviewer can verify you've completed the Wealth Thread requirement before approving additional wealth points. Totally confused? These pages explain it.
  • Collaboration - Did you write this thread with someone else? Or multiple others? A simple yes or no, and list who was involved. Simple right?

Skills Used

The purpose of this section of the review request is to ensure all players are thinking about the skills they are using. If you used a skill in a thread it needs to be played to the appropriate skill level. Therefore, we ask you to identify any skill used, and what level you are in it. If you are performing Acrobatic feats, then your Acrobatics skill should be appropriate for that. This is a check for the Peer Reviewer and for the player.

Next Steps

Once you've taken the template and filled in the requested areas all you need to do is post it to the Review Request Thread, and then wait. That's it! It might take a little time, but the reviewers will get to you. At that point, you transfer the rewards the Peer Reviewer granted you to your CS and decide how to spend your points! If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask a Prophet.

Please note

If you have a query regarding your review - you should contact your Peer Reviewer in the first instance. This must be done on site - please do not adress the Peer Reviewer on Discord, as we need to be able to support both Peer Reviewer and Player. Thanks.
