Psychology and Culture

The individual psychology and culture of a half-race member of the inhabitants of Idalos is more or less dependent on the influences of the societies and environment which they are a part of, as well as the inherited natures they will receive from their parents. This means that there is great variety between half race, even between two half races of the same lineage: one might take after the mother's race more than the father's for example. See Outsider's Perspective below.

Racial Abilities

A mixed race must be composed of one racial ability either from one parent OR the other parent.

Life Span

The average of both parents' races' life expectancy should give an indication to the lifespan of the half race.

For example: Aukari live to 40 arcs, Eidisi max 160. So half-breed is 100 arcs.

Appearance

The player is free to choose whichever physical attribute from either parent that they wish.

Outsider's Perspective

When all of the races were created by the Immortals, they were all let to live and to mix with one another. Soon enough, there were many types of mixed races around. With so many races in Idalos and so many combinations of offspring to result from various unions, it is difficult to generalize the reaction of mixed races in Idalos proper. Therefore, one must consider how each race perceives mixed races within their own people:

Aukari

The Aukari, with their fiery hearts and boiling blood, consider half-Aukari as lesser beings than themselves. Though some half-Aukari may still have the physical attributes of the Aukari, many are not at great risk of becoming inflamed when emotions are high. Due to this, Faldrun will not consider these kinds of half races worthy for his attention as he cannot control them. However, some half-Aukari are allowed some way into Aukari society and some of those are even accepted into the Occult if their physical looks are of a different race and can disguise themselves when entering another city. Generally, however, half-Aukari in Aukari society are ostracized, exiled and even killed.

Avriel

Half-Avriel races to the Avriel are most certainly an abomination. There is no greater amount of disrespect to the Avriel genetics than to mix it with a lesser race. Therefore, there are harsh penalties to Avriel who contribute to the birth of a half race. There is even a harsher penalty of a half-Avriel - they are given death.

Biqaj

Biqaj are carefree and a travelling people and they are welcoming of half races. In fact, half-Biqaj tend to cause some interest and even attraction to a pure Biqaj. Therefore, in society, a half race is given similar rights to their pure counterparts.

Eídisi

Superior in intelligence and with a thirst for knowledge, the Eídisi has trouble accepting a half race as part of their own. Unless a half-Eídisi prove themselves to match the mental capacities of their race, they will be more open to accept them.

Ellune

The Ellune have difficulty trusting outsiders after Audrae betrayed their loving father and creator, Treid. However, they are compassionate people and manage to find ways around their fear to come to accept half-Ellune to live among their own.

Humans

The humans are divided in their opinions with mixed races. Some accept mixed races and see it as important to embrace the multi-racial reality of Idalos. However, others fear that their race is disappearing in the face of interbreeding and the expansion of races who are looking to conquer territory that belong to humans.

Ithecal

Though the Ithecal cannot create half races themselves, their noble and honor-bound ways are accepting of other half races in general. Half races have a place in their society so long as they accept their laws and become a part of their strongly militaristic culture.

Mer

The Mer cannot create half races and their society care little for other half races and pure races in equal fashion.

Naerikk

Every Naerikk knows that if they procreate with another race they will bear a Naerikk child. Therefore, it is difficult to conceive of half-races. The Naerikk view both half-races and pure races as the same - they are both equally effective to be used for breeding in which a Naerikk child will always eventuate.

Qi'ora

The neutrality of the Qi'ora in Idalos' affairs is of no exception in considering half races. Qi'ora half races are judged on their merit and skill only and are provided the same rights as pure bloods.

Sev'ryn

The Sev'ryn are a spiritual people and their open mindedness has lead them to look past physical differences of half-Sev'ryn and base their opinion on their ability to be spiritual and connect with their familiars.

Yludih

Though the Yludih cannot procreate with other races and birth mixed races, they are capable of assuming their form if so wished. To the typical Yludih, there is no prejudice between whether one is of a mixed races or of a pure race.
