Overview
There are four common coins used as currency across the regions of Idalos. Though they're accepted through out every region in Idalos, the Iulure Isles use a different form of currency. These coins are imprinted with the seal of eight, the eight celestial beings who gave birth to the Immortals. It serves as a reminder for why the humans fight to survive.
OOC Note: Although you may assume that your pc is using coins / nel (or city specific coins) - we do not ask you to keep a record of every copper etc. Each item has an identified wealth tier next to it. This is the tier at which your lifestyle can afford this item in a trial-by-trial manner. Please note the specific rules per section and also see Wealth Rules before purchasing anything. Thanks!
General Rules
- If you have a Craft Skill this will allow you to make items which might be of a higher Tier than your PC. There are two aspects to this, the Skill Level and the Resources Available.
- Skill Level: relates to your Character's level in the appropriate skill.
- Resources Available: relates to the tools, equipment and materials available to your PC in order to make the item in question.
If your pc needs to purchase materials, then they can do so at a significantly reduced price than the original item. Therefore, in this system, having the craft skill is of benefit to your pc directly.
Character Skill Level | Quality of Crafted Items | Modification To Availability |
---|---|---|
Unskilled | None | None |
Novice | Poor / Basic Quality | None |
Competent | Average Quality | 1 Tier |
Expert | Good Quality | 1 Tier |
Master | Masterwork Quality | 2 Tiers |
Please note that this refers only to situations where PCs have to purchase materials. If you have an Oak tree and are a Master of Woodwork, then yes, you can make yourself a masterwork Oak table. Large items should be RP'd and, no, it's not ok to assume that you built yourself a boat in your spare time, or that everybody you've met has a masterwork harp, because you like them. Please use this rule sensibly; it's there to give players creative freedom. |
- PC Run Businesses
- If you are buying from a PC Run Business then you, as a player, may purchase items one Wealth Tier above your usual for no cost. This is to encourage PC businesses.
- Please, however, see the PC Business Page. <linkie!>

Please refer to the tables below for identification of availability per Wealth Tier. Per Tier, assume that you have access to enough food on a trial by trial basis to feed one person.
- For 1 Wealth Point, you may buy up to ten meals / dishes made from items or ingredients one Wealth Tier above your own. These cost 1 WP whether you buy one meal / dish or ten. You may make this purchase as many times as you wish, and it always costs the same.
- For 1 Wealth Point, you may buy up to four meals / dishes made from items or ingredients two Wealth Tiers above your own. These cost 1 WP whether you buy one meal / dish or four. You may make this purchase as many times as you wish, and it always costs the same.
- For 2 Wealth Points, you may buy up to four meals / dishes made from items or ingredients three Wealth Tiers above your own. These cost 2 WP whether you buy one meal / dish or four. You may make this purchase as many times as you wish, and it always costs the same.
- Each Wealth Tier above your own thereafter will cost another Wealth Point for four meals / dishes. For example, for 5 Wealth Points, you may buy up to four meals / dishes made from items or ingredients six Wealth Tiers above your own. You may make these purchases as many times as you wish, and it always costs the same.
Players can buy most of these items from their city's marketplace. It is up to each individual player as to whether or not their PC is hunting for or cooking their own food or purchasing it at markets or restaurants. It is important that you consider your regional variations when thinking about what your PC eats / cooks / buys. Seasons and availability will make a massive difference. Please note that the examples included here are real world examples and are meant to give you, the player, an idea of what is available. However, as Idalos is a fantasy setting, please check your city resources and be aware of the more unusual ingredients you may utilize.

- Bronze
- Bronze jewelry is very inexpensive and is most often the choice for common folk if they wish to adorn jewelry. However, bronze jewelry is very likely to bend, scratch, and break. The chains don't hold over a long period of time, and the stones and beads tend to slip off, and ultimately, it will fall apart after a while, in addition to the potential of staining the skin.
- Silver
- Jewelry made from silver is the most sought after not only for it's durability but also because it gives the wearer a certain air of nobility. Silver jewelry can withstand a lot of wear and tear as well as hold onto the stones and beads that may be set on or within it. Silver doesn't stain the skin like bronze jewelry, but it does tend to show a lot of scratches overtime and also has a tendency to lose its luster.
- Gold
- Gold jewelry has a way of signifying one's status and is as wear resistant as it is beautiful. Gold jewelry is known to withstand the elements, even after many years have passed. It can can be easily scratched though it doesn't lose its luster like silver jewelry. It doesn't stain the skin like bronze and isn't known for losing its beads and stones like the other metals. If one can afford gold, this is by far the best to have and own.
- Onyx
- Onyx jewelry is typically worn by the champions of the Immortals, royalty, and the political powerhouses of certain cities. Owning Onyx jewelry defines ones character even before others have a chance to know them. Onyx is a prized, rare stone that is sought after by most. Unlike Gold jewelry, onyx jewelry hardly ever receives scratches to its outer surface and its luster is one that never dies.

Armor
Rules For This Section. Click "Expand"
Each item has a tier next to it.
- If the item is listed as below your current Wealth Tier, you may assume that you have access to one full suit +1 for each Tier above the Listed Tier you possess.
- You may purchase one full set of armor one Wealth Tier above your level for 2 wealth point.
- All Armor (minus Leather) is assumed to be made of Iron. All Shields are assumed to be composed of Wood. If you wish to purchase a higher quality or different metal, consult the Metals section.
- Items more than one Wealth Tier above your current are inaccessible.
- Ex. Bob (WT 10) has a group of ten NPCs in a mercenary company. Two of these are Personal NPCs, and are very important to him. Eight of these NPCs, however, are essentially Redshirts. They’re there to fill the role of warrior for his mercenary company, but don’t have any written up personality or features.
Bob has a high enough level Wealth Tier that he can buy three full suits of Plate Armor at average quality. He decides to wear one set, and give the other two to his personal NPCs. He still has eight NPCs who could use equipment, however. At Wealth Tier 10, Bob can not only afford the Plate Armor, but can also afford Chainmail which is at Tier 6. Because he is at Wealth Tier 10, he gets five sets of Chainmail, and gives them to his Redshirts.
Three of his Redshirts still need armor, but since Scalemail is also at Tier 6, he can also afford five sets of this as well. He equips the remaining NPCs with Scalemail, and even has a couple of armor sets leftover if he manages to recruit anymore NPCs. He could also still purchase seven sets of Studded Leather, or eight sets of standard Leather Armor if he’d like thanks to his high Wealth Tier.
This means that in total, each season, Bob can purchase 3 sets of Plate Armor, 5 sets of Chainmail, 5 sets of Scalemail, 7 sets of Studded Leather, and 8 sets of standard Leather Armor at Average Quality.
Let’s assume, however, that Bob has one hundred NPCs to provide armor for. He would only be receiving a total of 28 sets of armor if he was gathering it at Average quality. If he wanted to raise the quantity that he was receiving at the cost of quality, he might decide instead to purchase Poor quality armor which would raise his total to 33 sets of armor. Bob won’t be able to give armor to all one-hundred of his NPCs this season, but after four seasons, he’ll have enough to provide armor for all of them, and even have some spare.
Of course, if Bob had fewer Wealth Tiers, he would be unable to buy as many sets of armor at a time, and so his acquisition of protective equipment would be slowed by the amount at which he could purchase it.
Ex. If you have Wealth Tier 10, you may purchase a total of 8 Leather Armors. (1+7)

Decorative armor and shields break easy and are only made to accompany one's status, title, or rank.
Armor Types Click "Expand"
Item Name | Wealth Tier | Description |
---|---|---|
Leather Armor | Tier 3 | Simple leather armor that protects the body. This typically consists of hardened animal hides, and is most commonly found on Hunters or Rangers. |
Studded Leather Armor | Tier 4 | Hardened animal hides with metal studs placed at even intervals along the length and width. These studs give added durability, but come with a light addition of weight. |
Chainmail Armor | Tier 6 | Intertwined links of metal which drape the body. The metallic rings used in Chainmail are capable of deflecting many blades, and even weaker projectiles, though those with especially small points will be able to slip between the rings. The expense of such armor typically restricts it to Military use. |
Scalemail Armor | Tier 6 | Overlapping layers of metal which drape the body. While this suffers from an added level of weight in comparison to Chainmail, it is nevertheless lighter than Plate, and provides fair protection against most common forms of slashing or piercing damage. |
Plate Armor | Tier 8 | Full sheets of metal comprise this suit of knightly armor, granting it a level of unmatched durability in combat. Few weapons are capable of piercing the tough hide of Plate armor, though the joints are typically exposed to allow for ease-of-movement. This is easily the most expensive and weightiest form of available armor, and is thus typically restricted to the wealthy. |
Shields | Tier 3 | Any of a group of wielded metal or wooden implements which are used to deflect or stop missiles or to lessen the intensity of incoming blows. The weight and general durability of a shield depend greatly on the material used to manufacture it. |

Metals

All metals will be sold as ingots in their standard form. If you harvest metal ore in RP, you must get it converted to ingots by a smith. Metal ore at its basic won’t be worth anything till it is refined. Getting ore refined won’t cost a thing, however, you must wait a period of time before you can use the ingots. How much ore you loot off of one thread is determined by the reviewer.
You may purchase a maximum of fifty ingots per season. This amount includes all Tier levels. You may also purchase an ingot one tier above your level by spending 2 wealth point Ingots two or more Tiers above your current Tier are inaccessible.

Iron | Default | Iron is often used in the production of inexpensive, durable items like armor and weapons. Iron is also used in a number of furniture pieces, construction, accessory pieces, and many other things. This metal is very dull, both in appearance and combat, though the latter depends on the craftsmen. |
Steel | Tier 4 | Steel is a higher grade of metal used in the making of various armor and weapon items. Though it is a higher grade of metal, it is not indestructible. It's durability is better than Iron, and is resistant against almost all basic, common crafted weapons. Steel appears shiny, compared to Iron, but runs the risk of rusting and/or tarnishing, especially on long journeys. This is, however, dependent on the craftsmen. |
Cobalt | Tier 4 | Cobalt metal is very sleek and shiny, appearing black, grey, or dark brown in color. Cobalt is a better form of metal preferred by armor and weapon crafters. Easy to work into shape and pleasant in appearance, Cobalt metal is most commonly used within militarys across Idalos not only for its beauty, but for its price and durability. |
Malorite | Tier 9 | Malorite is what's known as Star Metal, in Idalos. Star metal is hard to come back, often found in the most unlikely of places. It is very hard to craft it into strong armor because of its rarity, however, it is known to withstand the sharpest of blades. Malorite, when worked over, appears to glisten as if it gave off its own light. Translucent and seemingly starlit, Malorite is coveted by many. |
Embersteel | Tier 5 | Embersteel is a metal whose compound contains hits of metals that give it a smoldering appearance when worked over and set. Surprisingly, Embersteel is stronger than Steel, however, weighs much more than Cobalt, Iron, or Steel, making it unfavorable to most. |
Tienite | Tier 8 | Tienite is known by another name: Glacier Ore. Tienite is only found in the most remote of places, one being Oscillus. It is rumored that Treid's living body affects the land around him, thus giving nature an ethereal radiance of blue and white. Even after smelting down the ore, Tienite still radiates the same ethereal blue and white, making the wearers appear surreal and divine. Tienite is as durable as Embersteel, light weight, and easily worked. However, due to it's rarity within the other regions of Idalos, this ore is priced at an exuberant amount. |
Adamantite | Tier 6 | Adamantite is an uncommon metal, harvested in remote locations around mountains, specifically Sirothelle. Adamantite is said to hold special properties within the metal compounds that allow it to slice through even the sharpest, strongest of things. However, this effect is based off of the craftsmen and the compounds within the metal. This metal can yield strong, sharp blades or dull, breakable blades. Adamantite is mainly used for weapons though it is malleable and can be used for armor purposes. This metal appears as a burgundy color when finished. |
Geminite | Tier 4 | Geminite is ore found deep within mountains, it's properties very rarely found in the world. Appearing as the cross between diamond and glass, Geminite seems like liquid water, transparent and smooth, when being made into items. This metal is highly durable and is easily hammered into other metals while still keeping it's glassy appearance. Geminite easily takes on the color of other metals incorporated into it and makes for a lovely fashion piece. |
Crystalline | Tier 2 | Crystalline is another ore with strange properties, however common compared to Geminite. Crystalline can be found in caves, caverns, and pretty much anywhere dark and cold. It appears in many colors ranging from shades of pale green and purple to cream colors and the rarity, white. Crystalline can be transparent, depending on the craftmenship, but must be incorporated with other metals. It's durability is weaker than Iron and in most cases, it serves as a better use for jewelry and accessories. However, if fashioned with other metals, Crystalline can appear mesmerizing to the eye. |
Blood Metal | Tier 2 | Blood metal appears deep black with a reddish tint to it and can be found near volcanoes, both active or inactive. It is a very light weight, malleable metal, often used in sheets as a lining to reinforce armor. Common and fairly priced, blood metal tends to take over the coloration of other metals, if molded with other metals. |
Idalinium | Tier 1 | Another common metal, Idalinium can be harvested from pretty much anywhere in the world. It appears light grey in color, is very malleable and very easy to work with. It is another metal preferred by craftsmen. |
Corvantite | Priceless | This is a special metal only obtained through circumstances by which involve Immortal beings. Corvantite is a metal that, even after fashioned into items, appears to have captured the wind. Beneath the surface, the colors are always moving. Not much in known of this metal, only that it is every seen on the Champions of the Immortals. |
Euvomine | Priceless | Euvomine is another metal only given from an Immortal. However, the metal comes very brittle and breaks easily. It is not meant to be hammered into armor but sprinkled upon it. This metal is able to fuse on contact with other metals without staining or discoloring the item. The metal itself has special properties only known by the Immortal it came from. |
Minithelite | Tier 3 | Minithelite is an uncommon metal produced from the bottom of the Oceans. It is often worn by the Euri and contains compounds that allow the metal to blend into different locations, no matter the environment. However, Minithelite is very soft, light weight, and breakable. For this, the metal is often used by tailors to craft items of concealment. |
Ghost Metal | Tier 8 | To be updated |
Sorelian Steel | TBD | To be updated |
Copper | Tier 1 | Highly conductive to electricity, relatively cheap and malleable, Copper is a go-to for basic tools and implements. Lowers the cost of armor and weapons by one Tier if used in place of Iron. |
Lead | Tier 2 | An exceptionally heavy, and fairly durable metal. |
Bronze | Tier 1 | Relatively cheap and malleable, Bronze stands alongside Copper as a go-to for basic tools and implements, and may even be forged into armament. Lowers the cost of armor and weapons by one Tier if used in place of Iron. |
Tin | TBD | To be updated |
Gold | Tier 7 | A shiny stone valued for its beauty. It is an incredibly soft metal, and thus a poor choice for any non-decorative implement. |
Silver | Tier 6 | Another shiny stone valued for its beauty. It is not typically found in non-decorative implements. |

For the purposes of this section, the number of items you may purchase is limited, in the following manner. If the vessel you are purchasing is at your Wealth Tier, then you may buy 1 per Arc. No matter what Wealth Tier you are at, a boat is a major investment. For vessels below your Wealth Tier, you may buy 1 + 1 for each Tier below the item is, but unless the vessel is more than four Tiers below yours, this is instead of your once an Arc purchase. More than four Tiers below, this can be as well as. This is explained in the table below.

Items
Boat Name | Tier Available | Crew | Passengers | Notes / Information |
---|---|---|---|---|
Canoe | Tier 2 | 1. | None. | Usually pointed at both ends, this lightweight, narrow vessel is propelled by a single, seated or kneeling paddler facing in the direction they wish to travel. Characters use canoes for recreational sports, leisure fishing, exploring caves, and crossing small lakes or rivers within their chosen city. Also referred to as a dugout, canoes can be crafted from tree logs by novice shipwrights. |
Rowboat | Tier 3 | 1 | No more than 3. | A rowboat is propelled forwards by one or more individuals using oars, attached to the boat through open metal rings called horns, which are fixed to either side of the boat via an oarlock. Rowboats are used on lakes, rivers, and to transport people or goods to bigger boats anchored near the shoreline. Some characters might choose to use them for recreational fishing. |
Fishing Boat | Tier 3 | 1 | Up to 6. | The humble finishing boat is used much like the rowboat, but can carry up to six grown men, and has enough room to bait and set hooks or traps for crayfish and crabs. Unlike the rowboat, people are able to stand up in this vessel without falling out. Many larger boats keep a couple of these boats for getting between their ship and the shore easily, or exploring unchartered waters to evaluate the water depth and safety. |
Sloop | Tier 4 | 1 | Up to 4 | Used primarily for sailing along the coastlines or up rivers of a character’s chosen city, though they are perfectly capable of sea travel, a sloop is a single mast fore and aft rig vessel. It has one large mainsail and a much smaller boom sail (headsail) aft of the mast. The mainsail is also called the jib (a triangular staysail that sets ahead of the foremast of a sailing vessel) or genoa jib (a large jib or foresail) located forward of the mast. |
Ketch | Tier 5 | 2 | Up to 10 | A ketch is bigger than a sloop as it has two masts instead of one. The forward mainmast is always larger than the after mast (often referred to as the mizzen). They are commonly used as a freighter or fishing vessel, and much like the sloop, are most commonly for following the coastlines of a character’s chosen city, or island hopping, though sea travel is still fully possible. |
Keel Boat | Tier 5 | 4 | Up to 20 | A large, flat-bottomed, river cargo, ferryboat with shallow structural keels, these boats are only used on big rivers or lakes for transporting people or cargo, such as, logs, horses, crops, materials, and wagons. Usually long and narrow, the keelboat is often unsheltered and is treated as a barge. The keelboat is perfect for navigating shallow waters that other boats can’t move through. |
Long Ship | Tier 6 | 21 - 41 | Up to 45 | These graceful ships have a shallow draft which allows for navigation in water only four feet deep and can land on sandy beaches without taking damage. Being double-ended means they can reserve with ease and change direction quickly, making them perfect for sailing in cold waters where icebergs and sea ice becomes a problem. Oars are fitted along the length of the boat and include a single mast and large, square sail. |
Schooner | Tier 6 | 2 - 6 | Up to 10 | A vessel with two or more masts with fore and aft sails, the foremast being the shorter of the two and never taller than the mizzen if one is present. This ship will get a character from one continent to the next, but in unsafe waters, is a risky choice for long distant travel. Schooners are fast, enabling them to outrun and outmaneuver some of the bigger ships on the ocean, including the cog ship, a favourite among pirates. |
Cog Ship | Tier 7 | 10 | 50 | A single masted vessel with a square-rigged single sail, the cog ship is used namely for seagoing trade and long distance journeys. Cog ships can carry and transport a large volume of goods and are very popular among pirates and other ne'er do wells who like to use them for carrying all of their treasures wherever they go. They are also used by the navy to transport prisoners in custom cells built under the main deck. |
Brig | Tier 8 | 12 - 16 | up to 60 | A large vessel with two square-rigged masts and are known to be fast and manoeuvrable, making them the perfect warship or merchant vessel. A brig is distinct from a three-masted ship by virtue of only having two masts. Often equipped with many cannons (up to ten on each side), pirates tend to steer clear of these naval ships that are popular in northern and western parts of Idalos, such as, Rynmere and Ne’haer. |
Galleon | Tier 9 | 30 | 350 | A large warship, the galleon is a lot slower than the brig, but also very popular among pirates and wealthy merchants for its large cargo storage. Twice as fast as the cog ship (if it isn’t overloaded with loot), and a lot more manoeuvrable, able to stand rough sea storms and the odd hole from cannon fire, even the Mer prefer not to mess with these ships, generally able to go wherever the water is deep enough to house them. |
Tallship | Tier 10 | 60 | 220 | square-rigged and is often referred to as a full-rigged ship, collier, or frigate. The masts include a foremast (second tallest), mainmast (the tallest), mizzenmast (third tallest), and a jiggermast (the shortest mast if indeed present). It has a minimum of twenty sails and is very demanding of its crew. |

Scarf Rot | 10 gn | Sleep agent weapon smear. |
Second Skin | 15 gn | Freakish skin growth and return used for interrogations. |
Strain | 100 gn | The classic neurotoxin that is universally applied to blades. Where the effects of “Stretch” may be disclaimed as the victim’s drunkenness or clumsiness, there is no mistaking the seizures and asphyxiation caused by this poison. The combined elements of certain spider venoms and a particular fungal spore give this a far more profitable shelf life than the pure venom. And a “stained” blade is far easier to wield in battle than a spider. It may take more than one strike with the blade to cause the victim to die of the poison alone. But most such fights end with the disabled victim dying on the end of the blade instead. |
Stretch | 30 gn | A ligament elasticity similar effect to ‘Rubberlegs’. Heavy doses are crippling, not lethal. |
Thorn Bush Sap | 50 gn | A blood activated toxin that causes seizures and blackouts. |
Ghost Mushroom | 10 gn | A poison that shuts down the respiratory system. It has a strong smell and is very hard to hide. |
Hotlands Taipan Venom | 170 gn | Always lethal and perilous to handle. |
Rainbow | 150 gn | A sea snake venom that shuts down the respiratory system. |
White Saxifrage | 100 gn | Found only in the black-centered stalks) the “Assassin’s Friend”. Highly versatile and disguisable. Takes a considerable amount, but processes easily and is almost impossible to confirm its use. Takes virtually any reagent application, lethal or not.. |
Rainbow | 150 gn | A sea snake venom that shuts down the respiratory system. |
