The horrors they'd endured were real. The memories of the event would no doubt be everlasting, and perhaps the tales of it would remain long after the eyewitnesses were dead and buried. Each that had rushed out of the warehouse had done so before they were brutally crushed beneath it. In a way it was possible that none of the women had truly escaped the amphitheater. The cultists had taken something, even a small something with their treachery. Immaterial as a sense of safety or trust in Scalvorian authority or as real as a bow or broken bones, no one was left completely without a loss. That tragedy was second only to the lives that had actually been lost that night.
The scene of Scalvoris Town had welcomed Max above ground with a rough bout of sensory overload. Plumes of smoke and debris filled the air along with the desperate, grievous wails of those missing their loved ones. People seemed to be rushing all about like confused ants, unsure which part of the devastation needed attention first. The Rusalka could hardly understand what happened since she'd all but fallen into Merces' arms. Explosions had gone off throughout the area and brought building after building down in their wake. She was tired. So tired. Even if she had the capacity to truly emphasize with the Scalvoris Town citizens thrown in disarray, her emotions at that point were too exhausted to do so. When they were a safe distance from the destruction, Max pried herself away from her lover to plop down in the midst of her fellow survivors. That quickly proved to be a mistake. When Max peeled her eyes away from her mangled foot, it was only to find the wave of Elements rushing toward them.
"Bastards!" Max snarled, the bone dagger coming down to leave a deep slash along the hand of the male Element that reached out to aid her. He staggered back with a yelp and any of his comrades that had approaching with similar ideas had come to an abrupt halt. "If one of you...fucking snakes...touches me or one of them..." Her dagger briefly gestured toward the women she'd fought alongside just bits before. "I'm going to make a new fucking corpse pile of you dickless Element traitors." Given her gory appearance and that wide, homicidal look in her eyes, it was a serious threat to be taken indeed. It was the only excuse the lot needed to quickly abandon her in favor of others in real need. Dagger in hand, her tired arm dropped when they vanished. Blinking, she did her best to take in her new, high-paced environment.
Despite all they'd just been through, Kura and Sephira welcomed the Elements' arrival with open arms. Maxine's eyes narrowed a bit when she realized the latter was an Element herself. The cultists' decision to kidnap an enlisted soldier and a Councilwoman meant that the group was more than just bold. They were disconnected. Fellowship and Scalvorian political figures meant nothing to them at all. The fact they were prepared to slay Raskalarn's own daughter suggested there might've been no line they wouldn't cross, no retribution they'd rightly fear. The revelations were enough to send a chill down Maxine's spine.
Her inability to walk had left her painfully immobile. While Max was no patient woman and the presence of Elements had put her on an incredibly dangerous edge, being temporarily stuck in place did not leave her without advantage. She had been listening and watching while she took that mental break. Oh, how there had been so much to learn by being sedentary for once. Between what she could actually catch between Sephira, Kura, the Militant, and the rest of the present Elements, Max had come to discover some interesting things indeed. And while she wished for nothing more than to rise like a phoenix to put down the rest of corrupted military in her midst, her body and mind had been exhausted beyond her own comprehension.
Maxine reluctantly went about finding her feet again. It was a slow process, and one that was filled with pain and expletives, but rise she did. She looked around with a weary expression. Her wide eyes swirled with suspicion and an anger she was too weak to properly express. A hand reached out toward Merces. "Please," she all but begged him. "Get me out of here."

Sorry I missed last round, everyone! This should satisfy my word count at least.
