I Love Reminiscing...

Well, because I love my memories hahah. I'm writing this post because of a brief topic discussed in our chat and, instead of vomiting photos all over chat, I figured I would sow everyone my wonderful memories.

I always had such a fantastic time in school and mainly it was because I found my group of friends in our school's Drama department. I'd always been a bit self centered when it came to musical arts. I felt proud of myself that I could sing well and even stayed after a few times a week to make music with my friends in our choir room. It was such a confidence booster, knowing people liked to hear your voice and listen to the songs you made. It was also such a stress reliever too, being able to sing about things that made me happy or sad.

Which lead me to the stage. I'd always liked watching people act, even more so when they performed musicals. So I decided to get involved. It really was such a frightening experience the first time I got up on stage. I was so nervous that I blanked out, stuttered, than ran when the director yelled cut! Needless to say, I did backstage that year.

It was such a rewarding experience and it only challenged me more to do better, to be better, so that I could be on stage because that's where I wanted to be. I watched them pull the curtain away and move onto the stage, watched the emotions they pushed out, their movements, everything. So when the fall season was over, I tried again in spring.

This time, I won!

I was cast in the part as Mrs. Van Dann for the Diary of Anne Frank. It was such a tense play, so full of emotion and turmoil near the end. The cast really did such a great job performing!

Then it was onto Cinderella! That was one of the best musicals I've ever participated in.

Anndddd some goofiness before the show started, hahah.

Then here are some random pictures from everything else I was involved in. My group and I won critics choice (1st place) at our state competition. We were suppose to go to international competition but didn't have the funds for it.

I definitely encourage anyone who has kids to let them try acting/choir/fine arts something. Seriously, it made school so much easier and gave me the best outlet for my weirdness hahah. I loved it so much.

Gah Nic you're so gorgeous and talented girl! I think anyone who does drama/acting is so brave. I tried out a few times when I was young (like ten or eleven), but had some really horrible teachers that just put me off completely! I didn't try out anymore after primary school but now I wish I had, one of my brothers is into drama and he's done really well with it. I like singing too, even if I do sound like a mouse on crack / have zero singing talent, my dogs think I'm amazing << How do I know this? They don't howl hahahha. <3

On behalf of the staff, I'd like to welcome any new players reading this currently to the site of Standing Trials. I'm excited that we've caught your interest enough to make an account and roleplay with us here, while we continue to grow in numbers and information. Though we've had many exciting new faces come into our world, I feel that we should take a moment to reflect on the adversities that we've faced and overcome. Now some of you might be wondering what the heck I'm smoking. I assure you, I'm clean, hahah.

What I mean to say is what I've been saying to pretty much every one of you that's come to the site for reason of your own, but for some those reasons are well beyond their control and negative to their overall growth as a writer. Instead of addressing these things, I want to let you all know the reason why Standing Trials was created so that not only can you leave the past behind you, but so that you become a closer part of the team circle we have going here.

Standing Trials was originally created with a goal in mind to provide people who loved roleplay a getaway from drama, from life, from the obvious stresses that comes with being. We didn't want to treat this as a job, or intense work we needed to focus on day in and day out. We wanted to create a place where our members could help expand the world far beyond anything we could hope to imagine. Because it takes more than one mind to build a world and to expect one person to do something like that is inconceivable.

We've had our share of ups and downs. We've had drama, and fights, and burn outs where we've been away for weeks at a time. It was hard work turning something quiet and small into what you see now— though it is still small, it's hardly quiet. A number of people worked to build this place. The staff that you see now and the staff that you don't see. More than that, a number of you have already started making your mark on our world and making it your creation too.

We love this!

We want to represent a community where it's fine to create your own ideas without feeling like they're useless, under-worked, or stupid. The staff wants you to feel like your writing matters, because it does. Where you take your character, how you shape them, the journey they travel across the hills and oceans of Idalos is something we can't wait to see! However, we strive for each player to take from this environment and this welcoming community and pass that along.

This site is a new beginning for everyone, not just the “New To Roleplay” players, but the veterans as well. Trust us to provide a fun game and a relaxed, fair environment for you just as we hope you will spread our name in a respectful manner that reflects the hard work the staff and its players have put in to making this site what you see today!

If there was ever one so beautiful that the sun would implode at the sight and the moon would weep tears down upon the girl, it would not be this one. Oooooh hell no. But if we're being honest here, she can totally rock short hair. It's longer now, with sweet, wind swept curly strands that stab into the sensitive parts of her eyes while she's driving, causing her to curse loudly to the skies above and swerve while sweeping her nail-bitten fingers back into her hair, knocking her sunglasses from the top of her head and out the window where they then, for the love of god, smack into someone's windshield.

But that is besides the point! This awkward beauty can strut the hell out of some heels, but boots look better in the cooler months. But during any occasion, yoga pants are always the go to clothing, no matter the weather. Cause, you know, yoga pants.

Personality

Sarcastic at best, a complete witch at worst. Most people tend to say she takes after her mother which, for all intents and purposes, is truer than the truth. Though the mother does manage her finances waaayyyy better. Personality ranges just like the weather. On rainy days, she's happy, chipper, and care-free! On sunny days she's sleepy, lazy, and anti-social!... Wait a minute... Is that backwards?

Unfortunately, she's got a very vibrant personality that SOMEHOW has YET to earn her another boyfriend. But worry not, the large small cup of crazy hiding below the surface is getting smaller and smaller by day!.. Right?

A belated response. I liked the post named A Future Forward. And at first I just liked, as my brain moves at “slow-motion” this time of the year.
But it’s actually way more than a like. The post is extremely good. Valuable.

It’s a good vision and I hope it will continue to live and influence the community. But you know how journal threads are. They move on, pages are added to pages, and good things that would deserve to be communicated all the time disappears under the piles of new things. I think this is one of the major mistakes I have seen on other websites; the mistake of communicating permanent core things in journal format. That's totally alright. But as nobody scrolls back to see what people wrote about in the past, important things like this ought to be published in the core info too.

This vision shouldn’t be lost and forgotten. Years into the future it should still be available. It’s a powerful text. I wish there would be a special section where this vision and the values expressed there would always be immediately visible for all people who look at the website.

I propose that you also make a link to the post from the Knowledge Base, on top of the Player Information section, before the rules.
