Re: [Telka] Saoire's Heroes: The Earth Table

39th Ymiden, 721
First Course /Arrival

Zoro stood, strong and firm and all heroic chin jut and Vega grinned at him. "At ease, soldier, before you strain somethin'. An' if you call me ma'am again, I'll be strainin' somethin' for you. My name's Vega." She smiled as she said it, hugged Bao and Darius, chuckled as Darius did this strange little movement where he half stuck out his bottom to avoid her baby bump. It was sweet and wholly unnecessary, but Vega said nothing more to tease him and sat herself back down. "It would be right lovely to see you in Hopetoun," she said to Bao. As they sat, Zoro said that he had sisters who emulated her and thumped him a lot. Vega raised an eyebrow at that. "Why would anyone wanna be like me? I'm a right cantankerous old mare, I am. Tell them to quit bein' flibbertyidjits an' get on with their own life." Thumping, it seemed, should happen on ones own terms.

Second Course

Arlo's question came first and Vega looked at him with a slight grin on her face. "Silly or ill-advised? Me? More than I can count, if I'm honest," it was true. She tended towards rash and impulsive. But then, she came up with an example. "I went to Desnind, to try an' find out what I could about my mother's family. Arlo an' I met there," she said, to those around the table. Presumably, he remembered. "Anyhow, while I was there, a kid went missin', an' Arlo an' I signed up to go searchin'. It were the dead of winter an' it were freezin' cold. We found the kid asleep in this cave with this enormous beast all wrapped around it, an' I had to go an' pick up the child without wakin' the creature. Sword was away, I had to be quiet like a mouse an' I really jus' didn't know if I could. I picked the little girl up, an' the creature woke up. I had this moment where I knew what I had to do. I had to run an' get this child to safety, but I didn't want to leave people behind." She smiled slightly at the memory. "I were prayin' to Xiur the whole time, an' I had to put my faith in him, an' the people I were with. That was easy, in Arlo's case, but there was this woman in high heel shoes an' no coat in the dead of winter in the woods." With a shrug of her shoulders, Vega finished the tale. "I legged it, Arlo held the beast off long enough for me to get the little girl to safety, an' then he an' high-heels an' our guide popped out of the cave like a cork out of a bottle an' we got to bring the little girl home."

After Arlo had asked his question of the group, Zoro spoke, first to Qylios and then he asked a question. Vega looked at the young biqaj man and she gave him an intent stare. "I feel that," she said quietly but firmly. "Our life has been one adventure after another, I've fought side by side with Immortals, fought against one or two of them. I've faced pumpernickels an' ... all the things I've done. I keep thinkin' that someone's goin' to realise that I'm wingin' it an' I'm terrified an' I don't really know what I'm doin'." She smiled as she spoke that to him. "An' somewhere along the way, people started actin' like I'm someone famous, an' I have solutions. I've had childless couples come to me to try an' make a miracle for them," she'd managed it, of course, "an' all sorts. That feelin' is jus' that. A feelin'. It's your actions what make you brave. An' as for the second question?" She considered for a moment who the most famous person she'd ever met was and she shrugged slightly. "Xiur, I guess. Lady Qylios. Any one of the Immortals. But in terms of mortals. I dunno, I met this guy called Arlo Creede, an' he's quite well-known. Oh! Gennadiya. She's a healer, an' I know lots of people that know her. She's sittin' over there, the one with the beautiful platinum hair?" Vega nodded.

Strangely, it was Bao's question which gave Vega most pause. "I don't know," she said, simply. "There isn't one place what brings me pleasure. I'd go wherever my family was, an' I'd travel an' see it all, with them." The fairies began to arrive and Vega looked at Joy with a delighted smile. "They're fairies. Look, look at that one! He's dressed like a king!" And, indeed he was. A tiny male fae with beautiful rainbow wings and, atop his head, an acorn crown. Vega looked down at Joy and she smiled, "It's beautiful here, isn't it?"

Qylios

Qylios spoke, then, and she directed her words to Vega. She spoke of Joy without using names and Vega listened. She smiled and nodded her understanding and then she spoke. "Thank you," she said to Qylios first. "We'll do our very best, every trial." And that began here and now, Vega knew. So, she looked down at Joy and she reached out to stroke the girl's hair. "Hey, Joy, so one of the reasons why we're all here is because we're all so happy that you're here with us. Everyone here." She smiled at the child and paused, waiting just to check if there were questions. "Arlo an' I are goin' to be lookin' after you, your new parents. You can call us Vega an' Arlo, or Ma an' Pa, or whatever you want. We're really excited to be doin' that, an' we're goin' to look after you the very best we can. An' this lady here, she's your grandma, darlin' girl." She gestured to Qylios, making sure that Qylios understood that there would be no secrets kept from Joy and that Qylios was one of those who were involved in this. She didn't fuss, didn't gush, she just said it.

Again, she paused, checking and answering any of Joy's questions. Then, she replied to Qylios, but did so in a way which included Joy and which Joy could have a say in. "I know that there's a lot of people here who want to make sure that Joy is alright, an' who want to be her friends," she said. "So, maybe it would be nice if the people who want one have a way to contact me an' Arlo. Like this lion locket I've got, I can always communicate with Hart, or an echo scroll that all comes back to one scroll or somethin'." Looking at Qylios, she considered it. "If anyone wants to spend time with us, our family," she gestured to Arlo and Joy - that was important. "Then they can contact me an' Arlo, an' then we'll all talk about how we can do that best." It was important that Joy had a say, after all. "An' we promise to ~ I don't know, shall we say once a season ~ write on that scroll or whatever it is that we have, an' tell everyone about her an' how she's doin'." That kind of thing was important, Vega knew, to keep communication open two ways. Then, she lifted her head and looked at Qylios directly. "Grandma is always welcome." Vega said, and said no more than that. Qylios was the Immortal of Bonds and to deny her the chance to be Joy's grandmother would be cruel on a hundred levels.

As for what device they used to achieve this communication, Vega really didn't mind. Written or spoken, either was fine, but the only thing she asked was that they held only one scroll or locket and that they could use it to send a message to everyone or to specific individuals.

Between Courses

Then, there was another break between the courses and Vega ate a wonderful lime sorbet and listened as Saoire spoke about her Arlo. She spoke about Elisabeth too, and Vega had of course seen everything now. She beamed with pride and, as much as she knew that Arlo would rather not be the center of attention in this way, it was necessary and deserved to her mind. Each of the Immortals spoke and Vega was nearly bouncing out of her seat. When it came time to stand and clap, she stood and clapped. She cheered and blew a very unladylike whistle then cheered.

As for the expectation of a speech? Vega had no shame and she dug a sharp elbow into his ribs. "No duckin' this one, Creede." Her elbow was sharp and her words were teasing but Vega's eyes shone with pride and delight. Here, in front of all the Immortals gathered, they were cheering for her Arlo and she was determined that he'd take - for once - the praise he was due.

Third Course

Qylios left them and Daia came over. Vega knew this Immortal well and she was very pleased to see her. The dire lion at her side perked up also, moving over to greet Daia. The third course which was brought to Vega was slices of roast venison with roast potato and broad beans served with a deep red wine jus. Vega tucked in and considered Daia's question, then finally she answered. "It is difficult to narrow down," she said honestly. "But for me, what's important is that someone is jus' honestly themselves. I can't abide rude, but I'd rather someone were real an' rude than fake an' polite." Shrugging slightly she smiled. "Not much of an answer, I'm sorry." She would like to give Daia a better answer but that was just all she could think of, really.

As for a question for the table, Vega considered it. Then, she asked one. "If you could spend a trial doin' whatever you wanted, no matter how strange or difficult to do, or whatever. No matter any of that, if you could do anythin', what would you like that trial to be spent doin'?"

Vega's skin has a reflective metallic sheen with a red glow. Her eyes still swirl biqaj colours, but one colour is always bright red which glows like fire. She has a bright red glow in her chest, situated directly under the mark of a heart (Daia mark) in the middle of a glowing silver dragon on her chest (Xiur). She's unnaturally warm to the touch

Re: [Telka] Saoire's Heroes: The Earth Table

First Course / Arrival

Arlo figured he knew why Darius took extra pains to avoid bumping or brushing up against Vega's expanding middle. It was a gallant thing, a protective one that was only natural, even though there was an element of feeling that women in the family way were as good as made of glass. Vega definitely was not. But while Vega didn't tease, Arlo did grin a little and quipped...in a way of the sort of comradery that arises taking dangerous undertakings side by side, "Don't worry my friend. Far as I know it's not catching."

"It's good to see you all again, safe and sound, and under less stressful conditions than last time we met," he added then, as an extra greeting to all before retaking his seat.

Second Course

As for Vega's silly and ill advised moment...Desnind? He remembered all too well and Arlo grinned and nodded in response. He also remembered the freezing outing, the gigantic lizard and the small lost child in the cave. And the high heels, of course. "It wasn't all giant lizards and high heeled shoes," Arlo said to the others at the table. "I met the prettiest girl in Desnind there after all." As for Zoro's question and which most famous individual he'd met, he had to think about that one a trill before answering. "I guess I've met a few, but didn't think much about it until the moment was done with. I guess I'd have to say Cassion. I'd have said as much before I realized he was my father. But it only seems more fitting now to say it."

Bao's question was the easiest for him to answer, and couldn't help but mirror Vega's own. "I'm happiest and most at peace surrounded by friends, family. I'd say home, but they are home." When the fairies fluttered in, Arlo smiled at seeing Vega's delight, and how she shared it all with the small girl beside her. "King of the fairies, I bet," he said of the crowned one.

Between Courses

The sorbet he'd been served was peach. Light on the tongue, in texture and sweetness, it was a perfect refresher to have followed the last course. Of course, when Soire began to speak again, having heard his own name mentioned he suddenly felt more eyes on him than was necessarily, completely comfortable, and sat up straighter in his chair. It was a strange mix, he could stand before crowds and tell stories to them all in dramatic fashion. But storytelling meant dipping into a place somewhat out of reality. A different sort of spotlight than this where even Immortals spoke up, which he was somewhat less at ease with.

Still, clearly he couldn't simply remain in his seat, smile his thanks and say nothing. As Vega so bluntly put it, he'd need to speak, and so plucking his napkin from his lap, he stood smiling. "I'm comfortable telling stories," he said. "But I'm not much for speaking publicly otherwise," he said. "I guess all I really want to say is that each and every one who was there, was as much a part of this all than any singular one. Each one had their part to play. Remove must one and the outcome might not have been as much a celebration as what's happening tonight. Whatever sacrifices I might have made along the way, I believe that just about any one of us would have done the same. Considering all that was at stake."

It wasn't eloquent, but it was heartfelt. Arlo smiled and retook his seat beside Vega. The box with the chainstone was there, and Arlo gazed at it for a long trill, thinking it a beautiful thing to look at.

Third Course

When Daia arrived, Arlo did just as he'd done before when an Immortal approached. He rose from his chair, dipped his head respectfully and only sat down again once Daia was comfortably settled in. He'd met the Immortal before, of course, if only briefly. Though he could hardly say he was well acquainted with her. Meanwhile for his third course he'd been brought a small plate more usually suited as an appetizer, but one he favored enough to make a meal of it. Grilled oysters on the half shell, seasoned to perfection and topped off with buttery breadcrumbs.

The Immortal's question to them gave Arlo reason to ponder a moment. There were a number of qualities that came to mind when considering a companion of any kind. Some of them seemed important, in that they should all the better coexist, all together. Still, "Much like Vega has eluded to, authenticity is all important. But authenticity also requires self awareness. If familiarity makes for good companions, then neither can be truly authentic if they lack the self awareness to know what is or what isn't." Authentic, that was. Not exactly worded in retrospect as well as he'd have liked it to be. Then again, he was still trying to recover from having to make a speech.

But a question for the Immortal, well, Daia was most famously the Immortal of Dance, but she had other domains as well. She herself had touched upon companionship, and yet there were others. "As I understand it, prosperity is one of your domains. Some people define prosperity as having more than sufficient wealth, maybe combined with happiness and good health. If I may, how would you define true prosperity?" Arlo asked.

Second Course

Darius thanked the waiter as he delivered a second vial. He placed it gently into the knapsack that he had brought from the overnight stay in Saoire's care, and only then did he drink from his own. He took small, slow sips, nervous that gulping it down in one go might cause his mind to overflow with a torrent of experiences that might overwhelm him.

He stopped when the fairies approached, and he marveled at the sight of the wonderful creatures. One in particular - a curious looking fellow wearing a flat cap and what looked like a tweed jacket - caught his attention. The bearded human grinned at the sight of the visitor, who tipped his hat in response.

Darius was well aware that he didn't need to speak much in order to be a part of a conversation, and so he was quote content to listen to what else was said without feeling a need to add to it. Instead, he listened to Qylios as the Immortal reacted to the answers that her question had prompted. He tried to make a mental note of each one, particularly her response to his own query. When she gave it, he nodded in thought and politely thanked her.

He did, however, attempt to answer the other questions that were put to the table.

To Vega, he offered a simple but honest response: "I think it will be a sense of contentment that because of what we have all achieved, my friends and family are able to sleep safely, that will make me smile."

When he replied to Arlo, his voice dropped a bit, a hint of embarrassment creeping into his tone: "As soon as we landed on Ishallr, I slipped over and the snow began to soak through my clothing. Had I not sought immediate shelter in that cave, I might never have met this fellow!"

He nodded towards Ledas, but the giant ice tiger paid them no heed. He was far too busy batting about his ball of yarn.

To Zoro, he agreed with Qylios and Stan with a grin: "Aye, Faith Augustin. She's an exceptional person."

And to Bao the Brave: "Nowhere in particular, but probably on the water. For all the adventures I seem to experience on land, I still feel most at home aboard my ship."

It still seemed nigh on unbelievable that he was sharing a meal with an Immortal. Not that the Lady of the Light was staying for long, as he could see that Cassion - who had left as Darius and the others had arrived - was now sitting at another table. The Scalvorian assumed that the various Immortals were moving to a different table for each course, and so it would prove to be.

That did not, however, stop the situation from seeming anything other than inconceivable.

Between Courses

Shortly after Darius finished his soup, the cadouri waiter who looked like a badger returned with a strawberry sorbet. The Scalvorian was not familiar with the food, but if it was intended to cleanse his palate, it performed the task well.

Saoire didn't raise her voice, but as always seemed to be the case, she was able to cut through the hubbub and draw everyone's attention. Darius finished eating the sorbet just as she began to heap praise upon Arlo and Elisabeth.

As Ledas' involvement was mentioned in passing, the tiger lifted his head as if the ball of yarn was no distraction at all.

When the applause started, Darius was quick to join in, and Ledas let out a roar of approval, while Katara screeched in support. The mariner sent a glance in Elisabeth's direction, a proud grin etched across his face.

Third Course

Darius thanked Qylios as she took her leave, and took a deep breath as Daia arrived. It seemed that he would need to become accustomed to being in the presence of Immortals. Ledas, too, acknowledged the Mother of Lions' presence, even though he was - of course - not a lion himself.

His third course arrived, and the human could feel himself salivating at the sight of bacon wrapped stuffed chicken breast that steamed on his plate. He took a bite, and had to restrain himself from sighing as the delicious food met his taste buds. He forced himself to listen to the question that the Mortals' Goddess had posed. He felt it was a good one, and he gave it some thought before responding.

"Trust," he said rather simply. "I don't have to like someone, but if I know I can trust them, then that puts my mind at ease."

He took another mouthful of his meal as he contemplated what he could possibly ask an Immortal. It certainly wouldn't be about learning to dance!

"What do you think you and the other Immortals can learn from the people who call Scalvoris home?" he asked between bites.

Re: [Telka] Saoire's Heroes: The Earth Table

Image
First Course / Arrival.
When Vega spoke to him and told him ‘at ease, soldier’, Zoro simultaneously blushed all over and shuffled his feet rather like a naughty child being told off. “Vega, yes ma’am, I mean Vega. Yes, Vega not ma’am. Hello.” Zoro said and then he clasped her hand and said “It’s really nice to meet you. I’ve heard a lot about you. You’re marked by Xiur. Me too!” He didn’t bounce on his feet, but it was a hard fought thing.
That said, and introductions done, Zoro smiled amiably at everyone on the table. “You too, sir!” he said to Arlo, when Arlo said it was good to see them again.

Second Course

Then, during the second course, there were questions. Vega asked what would make him smile when he remembered this day and Zoro thought about it barely a moment. “Holding Joy’s hand and promising to be her Uncle Zeb”, he said without hesitation.
Arlo’s question prompted a smile from Zoro. “Well,” he said with a cheerful expression. “My Great Aunt Zelda has wooden teeth,” he said like it was the most normal thing in the world. “I didn’t know that’s what they were. As a young boy, I thought her teeth were brown from all the tobacco she chewed. One time, in the dead of winter my sister Zena who is my favourite sister, dared me to sneak into Aunt Zelda’s room and steal some of her tobacco for us to try. I did, but when I saw her teeth on the bedside table, I thought someone had come in and hurt her. I screamed the boat down and woke Aunt Zelda up. I was caught, red handed with a palm full of tobacco.” He smiled as he recalled that. “Aunt Zelda told me off. Not for wanting to try the tobacco but for being stupid enough to take my sister’s dare. It worked out alright in the end because when Zena then dared me to try and swim all the way under the boat, I remembered what Aunt Zelda said and refused.”

When Bao asked his question, Zoro thought about it. “My uncle Zeb’s garden,” he said. “It’s my garden now, because Zeb’s dead, but I have many happy memories there, and I always feel safe. It’s a magical place and I need to investigate the plants that thrive there because I’m sure that many of them have strange and wonderful qualities.”
Between Courses
As they took away the second course, Saoire spoke again and this time she gave tribute to Arlo and Elisabeth. Zoro burst into vigorous and enthusiastic applause. He didn’t go as far as cheering, but it was close.

There was a small sorbet between courses and Zoro looked at it suspiciously. Then, with a wide smile, he ate it and was delighted as lime and mango cooled his mouth in equal measure.

Third Course
The third course arrived and Zoro saw that he had beef wellington – a dish he’d seen once in a restaurant but never eaten. As he tucked in he decided that he was going to have to learn make it, because it was delicious! As they ate, some fairies joined their table and Zoro looked around to see if he could recognise any of them. There, flying about and having a lovely time was Mildred. She waved to Zoro and he stood and bowed a deep bow to her, then sat back down.
Qylios left them; Zoro stood as the lady left the table and, having just sat back down, stood again when Daia joined them. Her question was one the answer of which was ingrained into him from all of his life. “Being prepared to work together, for a common goal,” he said. “I grew up on a ship, and the ship is reliant on the crew. The crew functions as well as it’s weakest, slowest, and most unskilled member. But as long as you’re all working together, you’re more than the sum of the people you are. You become one force, with each person doing their best. That’s it, I think. It’s important to me that people do their best. Not just for themselves, but for the crew and the good of the ship.” Whatever ship that might be, he thought.

They had the chance to ask questions of Daia and Zoro thought about it a moment. He wanted to ask a lot of things, but he kept it to this one. “I love to dance,” he said. “I dance from my heart and my belly, from the wind and the waves. I wonder, Lady Daia, Ma’am, if you could tell me. I can’t think of a time that my dancing came from my feet. You’re the Immortal of the Dance and I wonder, when you dance, where does it come from for you?”

Of the question for the table, Zoro knew that one. “What’s your favourite colour and why?”

Re: [Telka] Saoire's Heroes: The Earth Table

Image
"I'll be sure to come visit, then" he smiled softly, looking to Vega with excitement in his eyes. Bao loved making new friends, meeting new people and having new journies. While he'd talked to Vega before in letters, agreeing to help with resources for Hopetoun, it was nice to meet in person and have time to share with the others. After all he had done with the war of Slag's Deep, the sacrifices he had made, it brought light and hope to him now to see people around him.

Then came time to answer all the questions they were asked, Bao sitting and looking to the others. First he turned to Vega and offered a gentle smile at her question, before placing his hand on his fur, where he had Xiur and Ziell's marks on his body. "The two Immortals that chose to mark me" he admitted, bowing his head humbly. "I was raised by Saoire. Having Immortals around is always an honor," he started with a nod to Qylios, who had been there at the moment. "But being chosen and trusted by them, as one of their marked, is a gift I will always be grateful for."

At the question Arlo asked, Bao paused for a moment, before giggling a little. "I tried to climb a tree in Saoire's realm, and I nearly fell. But then I caught myself on the way down, and everyone thought I did it on purpose and they cheered" he smiled at the memory of many small Cadouri cheering for him and his 'cool jump'. Truth be told, Bao had little in his mind that he was embarrassed about, having lived a life of comfort so far. Then he looked to Zoro with an almost sad look.

"You didn't run from the fight, Zoro. You stayed, you stood by my side when things got bad. You tried to save a fairy when all odds were against us" Bao smiled sincerely. "You are one of the bravest men I have ever met" he said finally, before the question of the most famous person he had met. "I was raised by Saoire, so I suppose that counts. And before today, I had spent lots of time with Stan" he smiled at the Tunawa with happy expressions, considering Stan to be one of his closest friends. Once all the questions had been asked, Bao turned to the waiter who asked for a third choice of meal, Bao simply asking for chocolate. For a moment he wondered if Oram, the first man he had met in Idalos and who had told him about chocolate, was having any. One of his first questions to the hunter was where he could find some.

Before the third meal came a sorbet dish, that Bao took a small spoon of and learned quickly it was flavored like a cherry. With a warm smile he continued to take bites, applauding when it came time to celebrate Arlo and Elisabeth. Then came Daia, who sat at their table. Bao smiled at her as she arrived, nodding politely before listening to what she said, asking what she finds important in others. Others spoke, sharing their opinions, before Bao shared his.

"Compassion. Love. Caring about the lives of others" he spoke simply, not needing to think hard about it at all. This round, he withheld any questions, not sure what to ask of the others and instead letting them ask.

Saoire's Realm

Once the tribute to Arlo and Elisabeth had finished, Saoire smiled around the room as the applause died down. "So far, we have celebrated those whose actions in the Heart of Scalvoris meant that things went so much better than we could have hoped," she said. Then, she gestured to the room. "And I want to be clear with everyone here. Whether you have seen the events via the vial, whether you were there to witness them or even if you have only the word of those who were there, there is an undeniable and absolute truth." Pausing, she breathed in and fairies danced around her. Stars twinkled above her, shining through the window, and for a moment there was silence.

"Each and every person, every individual who was there that trial, is a hero. We are here to celebrate you all and I must make it clear that you saved Scalvoris." With a smile, she watched the fairies as they flittered around. "And while we make note of specifics, of people's actions and deeds which tipped things further, you all saved Scalvoris, the Induks and, quite possibly, a lot more than that" Who knew what Audrae's machinations would have ended with, after all. "And so, to each of you were there in the Heart that trial, to each of you who gave so much, we have a gift for you"

The "we" Saoire referred to was evidently the Immortals, judging by her gesture. As she spoke, cadouri brought small gifts to each person who was there in the Forging that fateful trial. For each one of them it was the same thing. A small crystal-carved turtle with an emerald-encrusted shell and sapphire blue eyes. "One favour to each of you, from any one of us who was present," she said as the gifts were given. "We hope that it goes some way to showing you the depths of our gratitude."

Then, she raised a glass of what seemed to be pink fizzy wine, and spoke once more. "I propose a toast. To those who saved us, to The Forged!" Every waiter, every Immortal, all stood and toasted them.

The Earth Table

Joy was happily sitting between Bao and Vega, gently touching the cadouri’s arm, and delighting in the presence of the fairies with Vega. The happiness on her face was evident, reaching out to attempt and touch the fairies, who would giggle and flit away as if it were a game. The girl nodded her head emphatically when Vega mentioned it being a beautiful place, pointing up at the mutli-colored stars in the sky.

Bao spoke of his relationship with Stan, causing the tunawa to smile brightly. It wasn’t often someone referred to him as their friend, and as such, he was deeply honored at the mention.

Smiling as the redhead touched her hair, Joy listened intently to what the woman said, blinking a bit. Scrunching up her face adorably, the young girl glanced up at her curiously, tilting her head to cast a look at Arlo as well. “Parents.” The word was said cautiously, as if perhaps she was unsure what that meant. At the rest of it, however, her small face lit up brightly, only matched by her grandmother’s smile.

The Immortal listened to Vega’s words, nodding her head in understanding. “Echo scrolls will be provided to those that wish them then, and the one provided to you will do as you ask. And as for me, I am looking forward to visiting often.” Giving Arlo and Vega a grateful smile, the Immortal said her farewells and moved on.

Daia arrived with the group and was quickly greeted by Vega’s dire lion. Smiling warmly, the Immortal reached out to stroke the creature gently, and gracefully took her seat, smiling in gratitude to Arlo, Zoro, Stan and Trooper Westhall for their exquisite manners. By this point, even Trooper Westhall seemed comfortable with the rotating cast of Immortals and the order which with which things seemed to be flowing.

Before Daia began however, another greeting was offered - this time to Ledas – in the form of a fond rub of the head.

A question had been asked to the table and Daia seemed eager to jump into conversation.

Stan answered first, considering the question carefully. “Faith. One’s faith, or lack thereof, tells me more about them than most anything else.” As for Trooper Westhall, his answer was a bit different. “Trust. Doing what I do, you have to trust those around you with your life.”

Vega’s answer came, and it wasn’t surprising to the Immortal. Smiling warmly at her, she nodded her head in agreement. “Being genuine, just like you were genuine with your answer. There are no good or bad answers here. Being true to oneself is important. I think that is a worthy trait, and I can see your point about rudeness vs being disingenuous. At least rude is truthful. Thank you for your insight, Vega. I appreciate it very much.”

A thoughtful look crossed Daia’s features as the next person, Arlo, answered her query. “I suppose that is true, isn’t it? Then again, I believe everyone is in a continual state of soul searching and growing. I think, perhaps, the key is the self-awareness you speak of, and vigilance about said awareness. Could someone be genuine but lack awareness? It’s a question to ponder. Thank you for that, Arlo.”

Darius’ answer was the same as Trooper Westhall’s, but the way he phrased it put a slightly different spin on things. “Indeed, although I dare say liking them would make things much easier.” Taking a bite of her meal, the Immortal considered the answer further. “Trust precedes many things and is the basis for much. I think, perhaps, many people would agree with you. Darius. I appreciate your words.”

The young blond man – Zoro – had an answer born of life experience. “An apt answer, considering what we are here celebrating, young man. I agree with you that the desire to work together with others is an attractive, and beneficial trait. I believe strongly that working with others brings out the best in people. Anything that strengthens bonds between people. Thank you for your thoughts, Zoro.”

Bao’s answer did not surprise the Immortal in the least, smiling fondly at him. “A most excellent answer, dear one. It all comes down to taking care of each other. Sometimes we succeed, and sometimes there is further to go in that regard. I think the key is never giving up, and I know very well that you never will. Compassion is rooted deep in your soul, Bao – never lose that. Thank you for your words.”

As their conversation continued, Daia opened the door for questions, waiting to see if anyone had queries for her.

A soft laugh escaped from the Immortal as Arlo asked his question. “People do seem to forget about that domain, don’t they? You are correct that more often than not, people focus on the physical side of prosperity. Wealth, opulence, luxury, health. In truth, prosperity is about thriving mentally and spiritually. I’m not one to say how a person should go about that, as it’s uniquely individual to each person, only that I believe people should strive for the things that make life truly rich, colorful, and meaningful. Those things can’t be bought with money.”

Arching an eyebrow gently at the blond seafarer, Daia smiled, folding her hands gently in her lap as she sat back to consider him. “What can’t we learn? If this event taught us anything, it is that people continue to teach us more about the world and ourselves than we could have ever conceived. The ending brought forth by you and your companions, we never could have created. This point is important thought – everyone can learn from others and be all the better for it. It’s simply down to wanting to learn, and we do. Knowledge is always a good thing.”

Zoro’s question brought a smile to her face, considering the young man. “When I dance, it comes from all corners of Idalos. It’s the wind, the waves, the earth, the stars, the snow, the rain – it’s everything. You are wise to recognize that dancing isn’t a simple matter of one’s feet. It comes from deep inside one, and no two people ever dance the same – it’s not possible. How you dance, is unique and wholly your own.”

Bao asked no questions, so the Immortal circled back to questions for the table, desiring to answer those. Vega’s came first, regarding what one would do for a trial if they could do anything.

“I think, perhaps, a simple answer. I would wish to dance all the dances with people that care about those dances. Hop from one place to the next and participate in all the dances. That sounds like great fun to me, and I so rarely get the chance to be whimsical like that.” Giving Vega a smile, Daia glanced to Stan, inviting him to answer the question. “I think I would want to spend a trial in Sweetwine, communing with nature, with my friends.” Trooper Westhall followed up with a quick answer. “I’d want to visit all the Immortal Realms. If there are all anything like this one, that would be a site to see, I think.”

As for Zoro’s table question? Daia answered enthusiastically. “Purple!” Stan was less enthusiastic but laughed softly at the question. “Green, I think. Dark green.” For Trooper Westhall, blue was the pick.

Saoire's Realm

As the staff collected the plates from the third course, Saoire once again rose and spoke to them. Again, as she did, there was a small palate cleanser ~ this time a small sphere which, when they ate it, exploded in their mouth with a very briefly intense flavour and the sensation of popping candy. Then, it was gone. Gazing around the room, Saoire beamed with obvious delight "One of the things which amazes me beyond explanation," she said as the stars seemed to twinkle in agreement with her "Is the bravery and resourcefulness of all of you."

"In terms of that bravery, that resourcefulness - and that willingness to go the extra mile, we have two people to give our thanks to." Her eyes moved around the room and then alighted on the first. "Woe Morandi, when all this began and you became aware, you stepped in to protect Egilrun. Your actions led to the protection of Egilrun, the strengthening of the Rangers and the Order of the Adunih. That you saved lives is without doubt and you did so not only without any quest for personal glory, but in a time when such action was both desperately needed and not your responsibility." She smiled at Woe and raised her hands to clap for him.

Applause for Woe echoed around the room and Saoire waited for it to die down, before speaking again. "Would you say a few words, Woe?"

After Woe had spoken, or declined to, Saoire spoke again. "Next is someone who went above and beyond in the greatest manner," she said and again, her smile was beaming. "There is no doubt that any endeavor requires logistics and management, but we all agree that in this there has been one individual who has exceeded our expectations above all others" Her gaze turned to the man in question. "Your actions, Doran, saved Scalvoris, there is no doubt. More than that, your analytical thinking and logical approach meant that every detail was adhered to. However, what amazed us was that you also managed to come up with solutions so elegant that they surprised the great Storyteller himself." As she said that, Cassion spoke. "Hear hear! That hasn't happened for many an arc!" Saoire smiled at Doran and spoke once more. "You saved us all. Thank you."

Then, she gestured around. "Please, join me in giving thanks to Doran," She lifted her hands and began to clap -- she was joined by all the Immortals and, again, there was rather that feeling that someone, somewhere, expected a speech from them both. then Cassion shouted once more. "Speech! "

And both of them were given gifts, also. For Woe it was an exquisite glass coin which was icy cold on one side, warm on the other. For Doran, it was a plain platinum ring.

The Earth Table

Daia rose with the others, waiting patiently until it was her turn to honor those Saoire spoke of. “Woe, your involvement, from early on, saved lives. Your instincts led you to believe something was happening, and while it took time to uncover the issue, you didn’t hesitate to step in and protect Egilrun. Your foresight gave others time and support they might not otherwise have had.”

Turning to Doran, she inclined her head. “Your ability to think ‘outside the box’ was critical as events unfolded. There were several things that happened that we didn’t foresee, but your depth of knowledge and attention to detail allowed you to navigate said situations quickly, saving lives along the way.”

Raising her glass to both. “To you both - thank you for your unwavering resilience.”

Soon enough, it was time for Daia to depart, offering final words to the table. “I’ve enjoyed the time spent with each of you,” she said, making sure to emphasis that point. ”Be good to each other, and I bid you farewell.”

They weren’t to be alone for long, for Xiur quickly arrived, smiling brightly to all at the table. “Good evening!” Giving Vega a warm smile, the Immortal reached over to stroke the top of Joy’s head gently before taking his seat.

“For those of you that don’t know, I’m Xiur, and I will be sharing this course of the meal with you.” Grinning a bit, he looked to each face in turn. “As you by now have ascertained, I have a question to ask. In turn, I would be delighted to answer any questions you might have, as I can.” His eyes became distant for a split second, but quickly, he came back to them, glancing about the table but eyes landing with Vega and Arlo. “Excellent!! So, it appears that this beautiful young lady, Joy, will have the wondrous childhood we all wanted for her. With loving parents. It seems as if a few of you here have a choice. Darius, Bao, Zoro, if you desire, you will each be gifted with an echo scroll that connects to one that will be given to Arlo and Vega. This would allow you to make arrangements to spend time with Joy and forge a relationship. I would like to be clear though - the decision is yours.” Pulling echo scrolls out of seemingly nowhere, he handed one to Vega and held on to the rest for the moment, waiting to see who would accept or decline.

As the fourth courses arrived at the table, which for Xiur was roasted chicken with a bright medley of vegetables, the Immortal looked about the table and asked his question with a wide smile. “When each of you looks up at the stars, what do you see?” Smiling, he dug into his plate, waiting to see what they would all reply.

Re: [Telka] Saoire's Heroes: The Earth Table

Third Course

Darius eventually returned to his seat as the applause died down, and listened as Saoire spoke again. He shifted somewhat awkwardly in his seat and felt s heat in his cheeks at the suggestion that he might be a hero, but at least he was considered one of many and was not being singled out.

He marvelled at the sight of the crystal tortoise that was placed in front of him, and his jaw fell open at the prospect of an Immortal owing him a favour.

The conversation with Daia was interesting, and Darius appreciated listening to her responses.

Vega's question put Darius into a somewhat contemplative mood, even if it was short-lived. His answer came quickly.

"I would jump back in time," he said, "to before the eruption. I would spend the entire trial relaxing, knowing that everyone could spend more time with their loved ones.

There was a clear implication with that comment, that he wished for those who had died on Faldrass and on the shores of Scalvoris had not lost their lives, but there was more to it than that. Although he didn't specify it, he would have gone back further in time than that - to before the collapse of the Scalvoris Town docks, so that he could speak to Jean Baer again without having to go into the Garden Of Remembrance And Thanks.

That left him grateful to Zoro for speaking up, as it distracted him from thinking about his late mother. And, to his surprise, he found Zoro's question much more difficult to answer than Vega's.

"Red," he said, pausing a moment as he contemplated his answer.

He had a gut feeling for the 'what', but not so much the 'why'.

"I suppose it's because I like what I think it represents," he eventually decided. "It seems like a passionate colour. It makes me think of life, love, and courage."

Between Courses

A palate cleanser arrived, and Darius let out a gasp of surprise at both the orange sherbert flavour and the way in which it popped when it met his tongue.

The sensation was so unexpected that Darius sprinkled a small portion onto Ledas' ball of yarn. The ice tiger, curious as all cats seemed to be, sniffed at it, and accidentally inhaled a few granules, which immediately caused him to sneeze.

"What the—"

Ledas' reaction was louder than Darius' and it sent the nearest fairies scurrying for cover, but the mariner guffawed in response to the noise. The only thing anyone else would hear was a tiger's roar being interrupted by sneezing as it tried to rub its nose with one of its giant paws.

The tomfoolery ended as the group's attention was pulled back to Saoire, and Darius was soon on his feet once more, applauding the efforts of Woe and Doran, and he listened intently to any speeches that they made.

Having consumed a portion of the vial, he now had a better - but incomplete - understanding of just what the others had done. If there had been any hint of arrogance or entitlement that dared to sneak in, the realisation that so many others had taken great risks and undertaken great tasks ensured that a sense of humility reigned. It was clear that Woe and Doran had played key roles, and they deserved the praise they were receiving.

Fourth Course

Daia departed the table and Xiur took her place just as Darius' dessert was placed in front of him by the same cadouri waiter who had served him since he'd arrived. Steam rose from a bowl of apple crumble, the heat of which was countered by a single scoop of vanilla ice cream. Darius enjoyed his first satisfying mouthful as he listened to what the Lord of Hope had to say.

"I, for one, would be honoured," he responded to the offer of an echo scroll. "And if Joy would like us to get to know me better, I would very much like that."

He sent the young girl a smile, hopeful that she would find the gesture reassuring. In truth, he probably didn't need an echo scroll, while Arlo and Vega - and now Joy - lived in Hopetoun, but it would be invaluable if they ever moved away.

Xiur's question that followed had Darius eager to reply.

"I see a way home, wherever that might be," he said without any hesitation. "Constellations connect me to a place, so whether I'm travelling by sea or land, I can try to use them to find my way. When I look up in the Scalv sky and see the stars I recognise, I feel a comfort and familiarity that I don't experience anywhere else."

And then, when the others had given their own answers, he had a question in return.

"These stars," he said, pointing upwards. "I don't recognise them, and yet I don't feel lost. Did you put them there? What do they represent?"

Darius looked down and saw that the heat of the apple crumble was causing the ice cream to melt, and so he quickly resumed eating, preferring to enjoy the delicious dessert rather than ask anyone else any more questions.

Re: [Telka] Saoire's Heroes: The Earth Table

Third Course

By now, even Arlo with his famously insatiable appetite, was beginning to slow down. No matter that he could have easily opted out of another bite more, the chef seemed somehow, strangely, to sense his predicament, and the plates were beginning to grow smaller. He did enjoy a bite of something expertly prepared, after all, and obligingly kept at it. It wasn't just the Immortals who'd had questions to asked. Others around the table had lodged inquiries as well, and Arlo was happy to oblige by providing an answer.

Of course Vega would already know his inclinations and how he might prefer to spend a trial, if he was free to do just as he wished. Tricky though. "The way we live our lives, Vega and I, means that no matter the trial or time of trial, whether we're working, exploring, hunting, sailing or building or just sitting round the fire, we're doing exactly that which we'd prefer to be doing." Zoro's question brought a quick grin to his face, though that one was easy as well. "Blue, the color of the stillest of seas, or the clearest of skies. It makes them seem limitless, as if there are worlds upon worlds beyond the surface."

Between Courses

As his latest plate was spirited away and a small edible sphere was put in it's place, Arlo eyed the thing curiously before Saoire began speaking again. Turning his attention that way, eventually in honor of Doran and Woe. And as before, Arlo was quick to stand and applaud with enthusiasm. It had taken every one of them, just as he'd said before. But nonetheless, each had needed to play a unique and critical role, and had risen exceedingly well to the occasion.

He picked up the orb then and popped it into the mouth. And he found the flavor both subtle and surprising. It was lemon, but of a variety that was naturally sweeter than the usual. It was refreshing, and Arlo made a mental note to hunt down that variety at some point. He could imagine all sorts of uses for a fruit like that.

Fourth Course.

Then came Xiur, and as before, Arlo rose from his seat out of respect, only taking it again once the Immortal had sat down.

For the fourth course, Arlo had been brought something sweet, which at this point he'd have asked for in order to chase down the previous more savory fare. Light cake like biscuits with layers of fresh strawberry between them in sweet cream, and more of the same for garnish on the top. It looked delicious, but Arlo left it to sit for a moment while focusing on Xiur, and the conversation around the table.

So what did he see when they see when looking up at the stars, Xiur asked. "A world of possibility," Arlo said. "Eternity, backwards and forwards, inspiration and hope." His question for Xiur was probably one more often asked of scientists of some sort. But who would know better than the Immortal of stars himself? Besides, Arlo was curious. "I figure you might be the man to ask about the stars, if there's anyone that can say for sure," he said, grinning a little. "Just how old are they? And how many?"

Re: [Telka] Saoire's Heroes: The Earth Table

39th Ymiden, 721
Third Course

Vega grinned as Arlo described his perfect day and said to the group. "An' the moral of that story is that every trial's a perfect trial when you're married to me," she chuckled. "Or maybe jus' when you're with the righ' person, because that's my idea of a perfect trial too." But Zoro's question was intriguing to Vega. "I mean, I like lots of colours," she said and considered it. "Black," she said, finally. "The darkest black of night when it feels like the darkness is closin' right around you an' there's nothin' an' no one an' then you see a star an' it twinkles an' it reminds you that there's all the colours in the world, you jus' can't see them right now." She looked down at Joy and smiled at the child. "One of the things Arlo an' I love to do is lay down on the grass or on the deck of our boat if that's where we are, an' watch the stars come out." Nodding her head, she stroked Joy's hair just slightly. Just then, Wren spoke to her through her lion locket and Vega looked over at him and waved. "You are! Oh, that's lovely, Little Bird. I can't wait to introduce you to Joy, I think you an' her are goin' to be great friends.".

"When we get back to Hopetoun, where we're stayin' at the moment," Vega said to Joy. "I'd like to introduce you to Wren an' Ruari, an' maybe we can all of us - an' Wren an' Ruari's papa, Hart - all of us lay down an' wait for the stars to twinkle for us?" It sounded like a fine idea to her.

And then, as Daia left, Vega smiled at her. "Jus' in case I never said it. Thanks, Lady Daia. I'm right glad you're back in the world."

Between Courses

Saoire spoke about Woe and Doran. Vega knew Doran and there was wooping and cheering for him. She clapped loudly for Woe, though she didn't know him well enough to woop. Looking down at this small sphere thing, she glanced at Arlo then turned to Joy. "You wanna try this? I reckon it's poppin' candy, you know." She nodded to the tiger, Ledas. "An' it might jus' make us sneeze like him? Whatcha think?" And the two of them shared each other's spheres, the candy-pop in their mouths causing chuckles of laughter.

Fourth Course

The fourth course was a lemon meringue for Vega and she beamed in delight. However, her smile broadened when Xiur joined them. "Hey, it's righ' nice to see you, Xiur." She glanced down at Joy and introduced her. "This is Xiur, an' he's been well kind to me, over the arcs. He gave me magic freckles, he did." She nodded her head, sagely, as she said that. As Xiur spoke about the scrolls, Vega spoke to Joy. "So, all the people here, they're here to celebrate a big thing what happened. One of the parts of that big thing was that you are alright. So, they want to keep in touch with you, an' we'll make sure they can. But it will always be your choice, a'right?" Things were bound to be overwhelming for the girl and Vega wanted to make it as easy as possible for her.

Xiur's question, though? That was a good one and she thought about it only for a brief trill. "Beats," she said, quietly. "I see beats of music an' I hear them singin'. It's like they're music written down." Shrugging slightly, Vega felt vaguely self conscious, but it was what it was. "From my earliest memory, my Papa's told me that my Mama is one of them ~ the brightest star in the night sky ~ lookin' at us. So they've always been comfortin' to me."

Her own question, though, that was slightly more complicated for Vega. She was Xiur's champion, after all, and it was something she was inordinately proud of. But equally, they weren't in a situation like they usually were right at this moment. This was a meal, celebrating Arlo and Bao and Darius and all those who'd been part of the Forging.

So, this being what it was, Vega felt able to be slightly more informal with Xiur. Not that anyone ever accused Vega of formal, but she knew what she meant. "I know that you an' Cassion are friends," she said quietly. "What's the best story he's ever told you?"

Saoire's Realm

It was obviously coming towards the end of the evening, and they had celebrated and thanked a lot of people, rightly so as far as Saoire was concerned. But there was more still to do and so she once again stepped up to the cleared area to speak. "It has been a wonderful evening and I hope that you have all enjoyed yourselves," she said with a smile. "But we are not yet done. There is wonderful food still to eat and people to thank." She looked around the room with pleasure and delight in her eyes.

"The next two people are being thanked for their leadership," she smiled as she spoke that. "And first, of course, we must thank the Alberach of Scalvoris, Kura. Your determination in your role and commitment to keeping Scalvoris safe has, literally, saved the island on more than one occassion." Kura's role as the Alberach was well known - as was her "get in there" attitude to helping in a crisis. "For the arcs of service to Scalvoris, we give you thanks"

Each Immortal stood and clapped for the Alberach, with Saoire leading them. "You deserve all the thanks we have and I want you to know that your efforts are appreciated" As she spoke, a platypus cadouri brought Kura a gift. It was boxed and wrapped and seemed to be a book of some kind. "It is very much our hope that you will enjoy this gift, and that it goes some way to showing you how deeply grateful we are."

Again, she raised her glass. "The Alberach.!"

The Earth Table

Joy squirmed a bit in her chair but was very well mannered for how young she was, more fascinated with the conversation at the table than anything else. As Vega stroked her hair and mentioned star gazing, the young girl nodded enthusiastically at the idea, pointing up at the multi-colored blanket of stars in Telka. “Stars are friends,” she said with a smile.

Daia had left the table, smiling and inclining her head to Vega’s parting comment, and soon enough, Xiur had joined them with news and a question.

Vega and Joy were laughing about the popping candy, something that obviously delighted the young girl. It was evident, however, that she was getting tired. Luckily, it was becoming apparent that the evening was winding slowly to an end and soon, everyone would be able to go rest and relax in a manner of their choosing. Vega introduced Xiur to Joy, prompting the Immortal to gently take the girl’s hand and kiss it gently, to which Joy giggled in delight.

The Immortal had offered the scrolls to those of the Forging and while Darius immediately took one, it seemed Bao and Zoro needed additional time to consider the request, and as such, they were left on the table. Vega explained to Joy about the scrolls, and the girl’s eyes glanced around the room, unsure at first, but bringing her attention back to Vega, nodding her head and asking inquisitively, “More friends?”

Xiur glanced around the table, curious to see what they would say of his question. The evening was wearing on and there had already been so many delightful conversations, but there were always more to be had.

Darius answered first, give a somewhat practical reply and the Immortal smiled. “Ah yes! A sailor is never lost when he can see the stars. And others, of course, that know how to unlock their secrets that way. Cassion and I have had many a conversation about that very subject! Celestial navigation! There is great comfort in knowing that if you can see the stars, you can find a way home, and I rather like that thought. I appreciate your thoughts, Darius. Thank you for sharing them.”

Then came a more layered reply, courtesy of Arlo, causing Xiur to nod. “People have told me that the stars often hold the answers to their deepest questions. They are something simple, but so profound, because one must endure darkness to see them. I believe, stars can teach us much about life. And faith, for that matter. One may not see them, but they are always there. So many lessons stars can teach us, if we let them. Thank you, Arlo, for your words. Profound.”

Vega’s answer was intimate and personal, and Xiur appreciated that, smiling at her answer. “To each, stars are something different, and sometimes many things wrapped together. I find it enormously heartening to know that so many different people find comfort in the stars.” Smiling fondly at her, he continued. “Music. Stars have a music all their own. It’s not often that one says they think of it that way, so I’m glad you do, Vega. Thank you for sharing with us, truly.”

The table banter continued, and while certain members seemed quieter than others, a few had queries for Xiur himself, which he enthusiastically entertained.

Darius followed the star theme, asking about the stars that lit up Telka. Grinning brightly, the Immortal replied. “A gift to Saoire, touched with a little of her own whimsy. She wished the stars to reflect the people that gazed upon them, including her. Some of my most creative work, I assure you.” Raising his glass, he took a sip and moved on.

Chuckling a bit at Arlo’s question, Xiur sat back in his seat, regarding the man. “You are like your father in many regards. Insatiably curious. To be honest, I’m rarely asked ‘what’ stars are…and yet tonight, this is the second time! There are a lot of theories about that. Stories, some of which you perhaps know. Some people believe they're dots of hope in the night sky, while others believe them to be creatures, illuminating points in the darkness. As I told Doran, you should speak to Padraig Augustin. It's his area of expertise and if you want to know the science and physics of it all, I’m sure he’ll tell you, but I’m not going to because your father would never let me live it down and I’d have to go on one of his journeys with him so he could prove a point that it’s always about the journey, never the destination.” Concluding with a nod and grin, the Immortal turned his attention to Vega.

Considering her query quickly, Xiur gifted the redhead with a grin. “Well, as you can imagine, he’s told me some amazing stories over the course of our friendship. We’ve been on a lot of adventures together as well, sharing in the stories. This one time, he began to tell me a story he called “Geoupagus & The Two Naughty Granitees”, but he told me that someone else would have to tell me the rest of it, for it wasn’t his story to tell. I’ve always been curious about that one.”

Chuckling, he continued, having a bit more to say. “However, for sheer emotional weight, gravitas and power, I must admit that what Cassion did in the Heart of Scalvoris, even I feared a bit for him. That story, a story that spans so many arc, so many people and souls, it something seen so rarely that when the tale is finally spun, the world feels it in it core - it's that powerful. It was something to behold.“

Saoire’s voice broke in, honoring Kura for her leadership. Xiur stood, toasting to the Albarech and then waiting his turn to speak before offering his own words. “Hope is being able to see the light through the darkness. Pushing through when nothing is going as it should and never giving up. Your steadfast leadership through the chaos of this event gave your companions opportunities they wouldn’t have had otherwise. You gave them time, direction, and yes, hope. Leadership is about helping to bring out the best in others, and your leadership is invaluable to Scalvoris. Thank you, Albarech, and well done!”

As the staff collected the plates from the fourth course, Saoire rose again. "And now, a celebration of another type of leadership," she said . "That of leading by action. By deed. " Her gaze swept around the room until she saw the man she was speaking of - and to.

"Oram Mednix stood in the Heart of Scalvoris and he refused to give up. He walked to a shattered altar and he began to rebuild. In the face of destruction," she seemed to be speaking directly to Oram, even though she was speaking about him. Her voice carried around the room and the pride in it was obvious. "In the face of destruction you rebuilt. You would not give in. And in that act and with that action, you epitomized everything that the Forged stands for." It was an important and serious point for her and she knew that she was not the only one who felt it.. "You are an example to us all, and we are beyond grateful to you, and for you."

Again, there was applause. Cassion let out a whooping cheer for Oram and Saoire smiled. "I hope this gift brings you peace and pleasure" And indeed, Oram was brought a small gift in a box. It, too, seemed to be a book of some kind.

The Earth Table

Saoire’s tributes didn’t stop at Kura. Another was honored, bringing a smile to the Immortal’s face as he lifted his glass to speak. “Oram Mednix, your act of defiance in the face of destruction sparked hope. The Forged are strong in body, heart and soul…and you provided our newly Forged a perfect example of what they are a part of now. In the face of chaos, simple acts can turn the tide. You are a gift to us, and we thank you!”

With the toasts done, Xiur smiled at the table and said his farewells. “I enjoyed our time together immensely! Please continue to find comfort in the stars, and each other. Have a wonderful evening all!”

As the final course arrived for all, Ziell walked up to the table and inclined his head in greeting. “Hello to you all.” Glancing about the table, he noted a some that perhaps wouldn’t know who he was, so an introduction was given. “In case you aren’t aware, my name is Ziell, and I’m honored to share this final course with you.”

At the Fire Table, Qylios stood in her place. All eyes turned to her. "I am Qylios," she said with a smile. "And it is my honour and privilege to be here this evening. We have paid tribute to many, rightly so. But we have saved the final tribute until now, and it is mine to make." She looked around the room and her expression was serious, intense. "There is one here tonight, without whom there would have been enormous bloodshed. More than that, without his actions I would have been put in an impossible situation of my own foolish making." She was not too proud to admit that she knew that. "Without this man, the Warden and Audrae would have been able to attack, to harm, to carry out their plans and he bought us what we needed at enormous personal cost," she gestured to him, sitting at her table. "I ask you all to give thanks and show your appreciation for a man whose dedication to peace is as great as his determination to act. Thank you, Hart, for your actions. Thank you for saving my grand-daughter, and for saving me."

Ziell rose, raising his glass to Qylios’ words, adding his own to the mix. “Peace is not an easy path. Some believe it to the path of least resistance, but I am not one of those. Peace is hard. It takes more effort to understand and forgive than to strike out. It’s not a one-time thing. Peace takes constant work and effort to maintain. You gave people time to find a way to resolve matters that saved so many lives. We cannot thank you enough. To Hart!”

A small plate with a slice of cheesecake, topped with fresh berries and whipped cream, was placed in front of the Immortal as he retook his seat, gazing at those that he was sharing the table with, smiling. “If you all wouldn’t mind, I have one final question for this evening that I would like to ask. Then, if you desire, I’m happy to return the favor and answer any inquiries you might have.“

“What does peace mean to you, personally?” It was a simple question, but perhaps not as simple as it seemed on the surface. That was entirely up to the person that answered the question though.

Once everyone had a chance to answer a question, a Cadouri server came up, greeting Vega quietly. “Lady Saoire wishes to speak with you for a moment. She asked me to convey that it will only take a moment and if you desire, Joy can accompany you.”

If Vega agreed, the Cadouri would swiftly lead herself and Joy, if she desired, to where Lady Saoire was waiting with a smile to speak to her, off to the side of the stage.
