The horse started to slow after it had its fill of running free. It had come to a slow trot by the time Luvi finally caught up to it. She had wanted it to come to a full stop but it showed no signs of wanting to stop even when she called out to it and tried to pull on its saddle. She ended up having to leap onto it as it ran, ultimately wrapping her hands around its neck.
Putting herself in the saddle while the horse was in motion was impossible. This had all gone a lot differently in her head. She ended up having to let go of the horse and tumble onto the ground.
“Damned horse,” she muttered as she dusted herself off. She took off again and this time, thankfully, the horse came to a stop when she put a rune of weakness on its side, allowing her to grab and yank on its reins.
Despite not wanting to wear herself out, she had done just that. She still had the option of using magic, but she was physically beat. She’d run for miles, much longer than she’d ever run in one go outside of a training setting. She was surprised she’d been able to go for so long. She thought of riding the horse back to the group, but she didn’t think this horse was going to let her ride it after what they’d just gone through. She’d slowly walk it back and be thankful that her own horse was better trained.
