So if we're not going to have a seasonal upkeep on things like NPCs (at least, that's what I remember being suggested), should we not bother for having one for animals either? Or perhaps have an annual one instead; say, just pay 5wp or whatever per year and call it good.
Whatever everyone thinks is best is cool with me. I obviously want the game to be playable, even if I admit that I do enjoy the math (what a nerd).

No upkeep for npcs? I think there definitely should be, or everyone will start applying for them with nothing to lose. At the very least, you should keep track of how many non-free npcs (Not gotten through point bank or renown) and use that to sort of limit your wealth mobiilty.

Really - bottom line came down to - 10gn x season... that most assuredly isn't a wealth point. And frankly, at 10gn a season, there may as well not be a charge.

Re: Feedback Thread.
Maybe bring back the concept of "common land" for animal upkeep? Medieval villages always used to have designated land held in common by everyone where animals were turned loose to graze. If you noted one for each town that it makes sense for, you could handwave animal upkeep by saying that any animal not directly supported by the farm's acres grazes on the common land.

Re: Feedback Thread.
The only issue I see with not having to pay for upkeep at all is that there is no OOC incentive to buy more acreage for a farm. I mean we could put limits on how many animals a PC could own vs their acreage but I don't know if that's still too complicated?
Or we could install a 'property bonus' to give bonus wps (sort of similar to the wealth thread bonus) to players who own more property (and that could include any property, like acreage, houses, businesses, ships, etc). But I'm not sure if that's necessary either.
I do like the concept of common land, tho, if we don't think OOC incentives are the way to go. IC incentive (ie a player's own initiative) might well be enough reason for players to expand.

Remember , though, the way that job threads (as they currently are) are changing. The exact acreage will be less important, I think. Everything on the price list is going to "at your wealth tier" and, as the wealth tier increases, so will the size of the farm, perhaps?Kyreen wrote: ↑Sun Dec 09, 2018 10:46 pm Maybe bring back the concept of "common land" for animal upkeep? Re: Feedback Thread.
That makes sense, Peg. Then a PC could simply buy additional acreage if they wanted at their leisure.
Lol I keep forgetting how different the wealth tiers operate compared to how we do things now.
EDIT: Are we all agreed then that PCs shouldn't have to pay upkeep on animals?

Yes, with the proviso for a note in grandfathering to make things clear for players who currently own more animals than their new wealth tier would support.
