Saoire Gift Giving 2022 [Sabine / Genna]

Image

On a certain day in Zi'da of the 722nd arc, Saoire was preparing another get together to facilitate the sharing of gifts through special doorways assigned to that purpose. It would begin a few days before the appointed hour of the gifting. They'd find a note some days earlier, tucked into the top of a doorway in their own home, detailing who their intended recipient of their gift was, with clues to what they might like. Then a date for which the gifting would take place. So the appointed gifter would know by when they could have their intended's gift ready, however they wished to come by it.

On the 42nd, the very same doorway they'd found the note in would open up into an idyllic realm of Saoire's Dream. The doorway became a portal into her realm, the birthplace of the Cadouri and the place where many of Saoire's own personal gifts were made. For this purpose, the Realm would serve as a hosting ground for the gifter and their intended, and was tailored to such a purpose as that. Especially suited to either recipient, so that the place would be appropriate to their identity and interests.

And as they were asked to have a gift prepared, they were assured they too would in turn receive a gift all their own. Through the very same doorway as they received their instructions, on the 42nd of Zi'Da, it would open up into the realm of Saoire's Dream where two would meet. One gifter, one intended. In this case, the two were Sabine and Gennadiya ~ Sabine had received her information about Genna and, so, came prepared. The place they entered was a huge glass palm house , filled with paths meandering through exotic plants and trees. The displays around them were amazing; enormous trees reached to the snow-covered glass ceiling and all around them were exotic flowers and beautiful butterflies.

Just ahead of them as they entered was a junction between six paths, a circular area with a large tree in the very centre. Around that tree were tables and places to sit and, there on one of those tables was a pretty tablecloth and the table was laid out for a very delightful afternoon tea. Sandwiches, cakes and pastries were displayed on a three-tier plate display and there was tea there for them in delicate china cups.

The scent in the place was exotic and heavy, the over riding scent was of soothing lavender, but there were others they could make out too. Despite there being no obvious source of heat and it obviously snowing heavily outside, the place was warm. Strings of lights were draped high in the trees, twinkling down on them.

Standing and waiting was what was obviously a poodle cadouri - he wore a formal suit which was simply the height of fashion and complimented his colouring very well. "Such beauty before me!" he exclaimed with a twitch of his black nose - he was all black and his coat was cut in most delightful puffs. "I am Guldu, proudly the overseer of this, Saoire's conservatory" he said with pride. Looking at the two of them, he gave a low, courtly bow. "I bid you both welcome. We are here for you, Sabine, to give your gift to Gennadiya. You will receive a gift from another, of course and Gennadiya will give one to someone else also. It is a beautiful tradition, is it not?" He gestured and then held their chairs for them to sit.. "Please let me know if you'd like a different drink and one will be provided. Meanwhile, please enjoy your time together and know that you are most welcome here."

Then, with a slight 'wuff' of delight, he stepped back and left them to it. He stood, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible, though he couldn't stop his tail from wagging.

This thread will be eligible for both skill points and knowledge, as long as the usual review requirements are met.

At the end of the thread, all pcs will be given gateways to return to where they were. Literally and exactly where they were. Feel free to start your posts with where you were and what you were doing when the first gateway appeared. Gifters, please assume that the gift you are giving has been transported and is in the vicinity as you step out of the gateway. Also, if you need to have a space to craft that gift, please assume that one was provided.

You may play the offered cadouri as NPCs throughout this thread. If you ask specific questions, feel free to PM me, but largely the NPC is provided for flavor.

When you have completed the thread, please place it up for review as normal. Once it’s been reviewed, post here to claim your event medal!

Zi'da 42, Arc 722

To say that Sabine was nervous was something of a vast understatement. Ordinarily, there wasn't much that could discombobulate – such a fun word – her, but this business with Saoire and giving gifts was another matter entirely.

That didn't mean she hadn't taken it seriously. No, gifts were something of a sacred thing to her. Growing up as she had, her family hadn't been well off and such, the collection of material possessions wasn't meaningful to her, but token mementos did have their place if thoughtfully sourced. When given information on whom she would be gifting to, Sabine considered the matter carefully and eventually landed on a gift that felt 'right' – instinct was everything in issues like this.

Clutching the small box tightly, the redhead stepped through the gateway. The desire and urge to close her eyes were present, but Sabine knew better. Traveling had taught her always to keep one's gaze ready and alert.

However, what lay on the other side of the gateway was something else entirely.

Dark gaze moving from one side of the area to the other, the young woman tried to take everything in. One of the best parts of being a traveler was the pursuit of seeing and experiencing the world, and while she hadn't nearly seen enough of it, what was before her was the most beautiful sight she had ever laid her eyes upon.

The lush environment was a sight filled with vibrant, rich colors and life. Life was everywhere – Sabine could feel it. It was said that Melrathi were more in-tune with nature than most, and while she didn't know if she'd go so far as to present it like that, Sabine did feel like, perhaps, they had a better innate understanding of nature and all that moved within in. Maybe it was just an illusion or a highly romanticized view of the people she had grown up around.

Did she smell....lavender?

In front of her, the makings of a gathering of sorts, complete with food and what appeared to be tea, but before she had the chance to investigate, a voice materialized, causing her to turn and see the source of it.

Sabine had seen many things, but a poodle cadouri wasn't something she had been expecting. Cadouri she had heard of, of course, but hadn't had the pleasure of meeting one. Offering a friendly smile, she returned the greeting. "A pleasure, Guldu. I would tell you my name, but it seems you are already familiar with it. This certainly is an extraordinary place. I can't imagine being able to see this every day."

They weren't alone, of course. The young woman assumed that blond was the mysterious Gennadiya and offered her a friendly smile. While her name was already known, it seemed appropriate to introduce herself again. "Hello, Gennadiya. I'm Sabine. Here...I hope you like it."

Gently, Sabine held out the small box. "There's something of a story that goes along with the gift. I grew up in Melrath, and there was a woman - a healer of sorts - that would treat people in their homes. I had an opportunity to speak with her once when a neighbor's daughter became ill. The girl was only a toddler, so not the best patient, as you can imagine."

"The healer had this beautiful pendant necklace around her neck, and I remember watching her take it and sway it in front of the girl to get her attention. The little girl played with the pendant, distracted, until the healer could do the work needed - no fuss. I asked her later about it, and she said that the necklace was one of the most important tools she used because it how the power to interest and distract. It had a great backstory that she told people that weren't pint-sized, having been inherited from another healer, and she planned to pass it on when the time came to a new healer, carrying with it the wisdom of those before that had worn it."

When Gennadiya opened the box, the significance behind the story became apparent, as before her lay a beautiful necklace.

The shimmering gray cobalt chain was stunning, but the dramatic centerpiece was a large pendant of rose quartz. Set as an inverse teardrop, the gemstone was wrapped in a mesmerizing combination of cobalt and crystalline, with the wire setting designed to represent the tree of life.

The redhead's voice continued. "While this is a new piece, perhaps someday you can pass it on as well. May it serve you well in helping to heal others, Gennadiya."

Genna moved around the library in her house as she had taken the trial off in preparation for Saoire’s summons. She was currently working on hand stitching squares together. One of the study tables in the library had been taken up with these squares. Genna was attempting her first quilt. Nothing to complex but she had the squares laid out to confirm the simple geometric pattern. Now she was working on sewing the squared together. She had been advices to not to try and start in the middle and attack them all but to do a bunch of sets of twos and then sew those twos together and so on.

After as she was selecting the next set she looked up and saw that the door had appeared. Carefully setting her project down Genna, and smoothing her skirts out she turned and looked at the gate, and with firm steps walked through the doorway. Stepping through to the other side she paused to take in her surroundings. She was in some type of building or green house with tone so exotic looking plants. The young woman was dressed in a pink dress. She had originally planned on allowing her hair to hang loss, but thanks to her daughter she now had a small braid on the left side of her face.

Genna looked up and saw the lights twinkling at she moved forward. She took in the other woman who had come through another gateway. The other woman appeared to be in her twenties. She had vibrant red hair, and was a very pretty young woman. Between them was a Poodle caudori. He was extremely well dressed and was studying of them. Genna smiled at everyone and nodded her head towards Guldu as he made the introductions. As the other woman, Sabine mentioned the place they were gathered, she looked around and took in some more of the beauty.

“Thank you Guldu.” She said “It is a pleasure to meet you, and see the beauty of this place.” She said. Luckily the poodle stepped back to allow the two woman to talk. Sabine introduced herself, and Genna nodded her head in greeting. “It is nice to meet you Sabine.” The other woman was clearly nervous. Genna smiled at her and took the box that was offered to her but held off opening it while the explanation was given. Her blue eyes listened and softened even more as the story was explained. The healer’s understanding of children and using such tools to help distract while she worked. Genna nodded her head in understanding and agreement when the Sabine mentioned the difficult of treating a toddler.

Once the story was done, Genna opened the box and looked at the beautiful necklace. She smiled and titled her head as she looked and looked at the rose quart in the colbalt and crystalline tree of life motif. It was a beautiful piece and the sentiment behind the necklace made it even more beautiful. “Oh Sabine. It is absolutely beautiful.” She smiled as she looked up. “This is a wonderful gift. I love the story and tradition behind it. I would love to honor such a tradition.” She said in all sincerity and bowed her head in appreciation.
