Snodgrass, Pendleton & Snoot:
Builders, Engineers and Purveyors of Fine Constructions.
Builders, Engineers and Purveyors of Fine Constructions.
Situated at the edge of the Earth Quarter and positioned so as to be almost in the Glass Quarter, but not quite, sits the offices of Messrs Snodgrass, Pendleton and Snoot. A construction company which has resided in Rharne for at least three generations of Snodgrasses, Pendletons and Snoots, it is a well-known and well-established company.
The office building itself is pristine and bears a number of strange quirks - much like its owners. There is a notice board where anyone is welcome to come and post up requests for odd jobs or help wanted. The only thing banned from that notice board, really, is advertising. Another board proudly displays names of previous customers - from the Lightning Cathedral Roof Repair of 704 to the Construction of the Order of the Adunih Soup Kitchen in 718 - every client is asked for a quote or recommendation and those, too, are displayed here. Each of the three owners of this establishment has his own desk - each desk has a name displayed with it, identifying whether the person seated at that desk is a Snodgrass, a Pendleton or - indeed - a Snoot. Even in such a simple thing as a sign bearing a name, one thing is evident. The three men are individuals but are also individualistic. While Mr Pendleton has a subtle wood-carved nameplate minding its own business on his desk, Mr Snoot has a large metal shield attached to the front of his desk. Snodgrass is different again - his name is on a carved sign hung on the wall behind him.
Eccentric, quirky, odd and peculiar are all words which could be - and are - associated with Messrs Snodgrass, Pendleton and Snoot. They refer to each other always by their title and family name - if any of them have a first name it's a well kept secret - but the most important thing is that the three of them work together excellently and they produce excellent work. They are skilled and fair in their tradings. They will take on apprentices as needed but they have the highest standards and the apprentice had better learn each man's foibles quickly.
