So far, she thought, and they weren't doing too badly. She'd got people and equipment and, thus far, hadn't spent a copper nel. That would please the Accountant on the Council, she didn't doubt and, in truth, it pleased her. For a number of reasons. The less money she spent now, the more she had to spend on the new accommodation for those who had been made homeless by this. Every copper she saved here meant she could spend it when she needed to. So, the Element had gone and not yet come back. They had the field hospital set up the best they could so she made her way outside, Alissa with her. "I'd like it," Faith said, "If we could get it so that the volunteers and the trapped are as safe as possible. In order for that to happen, we need to shore up the buildings. As far as possible, we need to stop further collapse." That was something else that the volunteer had said to her, when she'd spoken to one of them a few breaks ago. She'd done her best to get the light and the sound and the masks, but now, her thoughts ticked elsewhere.

So, she made her way to the zone and sought out Roberta, one of the Isonomia members. With a brief smile and no more preamble than that, Faith explained what she wanted and Roberta nodded. "It's an important thing, and it's going to get more urgent as the trials go on. Small shifts become big slides, you know? So, shore it up now, it makes sense. Can we get equipment?" Faith nodded her head, "tell me what you need. Bring me a list, yes?" Roberta nodded her head and moved away, to go and speak to others, those she already knew were more skilled than her from the docks workers. Faith watched her go and a thought occurred to her. "Alright, we need to get... there were ten people setting up the field hospital, keep four of them on it, most of the work is done but there's always a need for runners and so on, and get the other six setting up a volunteer center, storage center. We need a morgue, too. I want those two things started and underway within the break. The shoring up of the buildings and the setting up of a volunteer center and morgue." Alissa nodded and watched as Faith's thoughts ticked over.

Then, of all things, she swore. It wasn't often that Faith did, but as she realised something she felt a rush of pure frustration. "Skeet?" Faith was saying the young woman's name with the intention of finding out where she was but, from the shadows it seemed, Skeet emerged. "Yes, boss?" Faith physically jumped and Alissa's hand fell to her sword before she, too, breathed out a sigh of relief. "Skeet. Go to Beacon. The Cally's trainees. There are over fifty people there, we could use those hands. Wait!" Skeet, who was never still, was already half moving and so skidded to a stop and looked at Faith.

"Take a cart. Bring kitchen supplies - go to the soup kitchen, get the... " Faith considered it for a moment and then nodded. The soup kitchen was too far away to be ferrying people back and forth to it. So, it would have to come here. "Food. People will need food. Blankets. Clothes. Cally's, Beacon, the soup kitchen." Skeet grinned and nodded then ran off.

Alissa looked at Faith and spoke quietly. "You can't think of everything immediately," she said and Faith nodded. "I know. But it's bean four breaks. How many people could those hands have saved?" There would be no telling her different because Faith knew the truth of that. Still, they had what they had now, and hopefully their numbers were about to get a boost.

Making her way back to the zone, Faith thought that she'd be able to help out in a hand-on sort of way for at least a break or maybe more, but fate was not kind in that regard. There was a call for her, which she turned to look at then realised that the female Land Troop she had asked to go to the Elements HQ and speak to her commanding officer was back and Faith was delighted to see that she was back with a small cart full of bags and crates. Faith hurried over. "You were very speedy, thank you." The woman waved a hand, unconcerned. "Whistles, glowstones, some hats and masks they won't be enough, but we've sent over to the Ice Caves to the exploration there." Faith looked at her and she smiled. It was a genuine, beaming smile and she nodded gratefully. "This will make an enormous difference, you know. Thank you."

The land troop shook her head. "It's fine. It'll take a few breaks for them to arrive and then again for things to be packed up. But at least you know stuff is coming." Faith nodded."I'll add them to the lists. That helps, very much, thank you." It did. It also helped, morale wise, that the Elements were helping - and she hadn't thought of sending to the Ice Caves. People were pulling together and Faith was more than pleased. "I'm going to ask Charles to help you distribute these, if that's acceptable?" The woman nodded and Faith looked around. True enough, there was Alissa, who smiled tightly. She wasn't happy at leaving Faith but she'd do it. For now. "Come with me?" She said and the two of them took the cart.

Faith stopped at the area designated as the Volunteer Center and she looked around, pleased. There was only one thing missing. "I want the names," she said, softly, to the volunteer there. "Every person who donates, I want the names. We'll thank them, all of them." Publically, with lists of some kind, Faith thought. In a place which commemorated the dead and celebrated the living. Each person, each volunteer. Still, all they could do right now was take down names and donations. Behind the tables, they had a large area for storage of donations and Faith looked around, pleased. Yes, this would do. It wasn't extravagant, but they had no time for it.

Next, she went to check on the morgue. It was empty, of the living, and a deep frown crossed Faith's face. There were already bodies in here, which did not bother the young worshipper of Famula and Vri at all, never mind her time as an undertaker. So, that did not concern her in the slightest but, as she moved to light a candle, she called out of the door. "Hello? Hello! Oh, thank you. Could you go and get Leeja for me, please?" She sat in the room there, then, and waited.

After a few moments, Leeja came in and Faith stood. "Thank you for coming. I'm sorry to disturb you. We need someone to sit with the dead. It is Scalvoris' tradition that someone must be with them and a light burning. Will you?" Leeja, who much preferred her own company and was quite content with solitude nodded. "I will. But is there anything specific I need to do or not do?" Faith shook her head, no, there just had to be a person, awake and alert and with a light lit. Leeja nodded her understanding. "Then give me a job to do. Something I can organise or sort."

Faith considered it and agreed. Then, she got Leeja working on the administration of the volunteers. Names and shift rotations, placing them in certain areas, that kind of thing. She was good at it, she had time and the quiet and so, Faith left her to it, with thanks.

It was back, now to the shoring up of the collapsed buildings, which was where she had started this break. There was so much to do that Faith had to keep in her head but, between the blessing of Vri which meant that she did not forget and her skill at organisation, at sorting things logically and consistently, she was able to keep hold of what she needed to. So, back to Roberta and the list of what was needed. Once she'd found her fellow faction member, she retrieved the piece of parchment with a smile and she looked at it. Skeet, who seemed to be with her almost as much as Alissa at the moment, spoke. "What do you need, Faith?"

Faith looked up, taking her gaze away from the parchment for a trill and she stopped. There they were, Roberta, Skeet and Alissa and they were all looking at her like they thought she had answers. Why would they think that? For a brief moment of panic, Faith wanted to shout at them, to tell them that she was nineteen arcs old, that her first eighteen arcs had been as a slave. Did they not realise, she wondered that sometimes, even now, she woke up at night terrified that this had been a dream of freedom from the shackles of her torture? What did they expect from her, what did they want? She couldn't do it, she opened her mouth to tell them.

"Alright, well," she said with a smile. "I know the carpentry parts of this, but a lot of it is beyond my knowledge. Alright, we'll get the equipment together." These were, after all, Scalvoris docks and the relief effort had been going for some breaks now. Most of the dockworkers were here, helping to dig out the rubble. So, she spoke once again to the Harbourmaster, arranging what they needed. There was no doubting that this was going to be a dangerous job, she thought. Expecting a fight, she was more than pleasantly surprised when she didn't get one. It was all about how she sold it and actually, that was luck more than judgement.

"In order to make sure that there is no further damage to the buildings, and thus danger to life," Faith said and the dockmaster heard the risk of further damage to buildings. He was more than helpful at that point and Faith wondered just what it was that created a person so focused on money that it was more important than lives. She did not, could not and would not understand that philosophy, but there it was. Still, he asked her what the worse case scenario was and Faith looked at him with a very genuine gaze. "If we do nothing? Bad. The worst, I think. We could lose everything." She, of course, was talking about all the lives, but if he chose to think about it in terms of fiscal resources, then there was nothing that she could do. Later, she would smile in remembering the number of times she'd done simlarly with Tristan. Of course, with him it had usually been about his sculptures and whether they were good, or worse still the dreaded 'do you like it?' spoken oh-so eagerly.

With a smile, Faith nodded to the harbourmaster. "Thank you. Do you need anything more from me?" He shook his head, no. He was already looking towards a specific warehouse. They were at the docks, after all. Shipbuilding, woodworking, all sorts of building and construction went on here and they were more than able to bring in what was needed. So, Faith went back to Roberta and reported this and she nodded, pleased. "Let me know," Faith said, "If there's any more needed. I'm going to help in the hospital for a while." Roberta nodded and watched the young human leave.

Then, like everyone else here, she got back to work trying to save lives.
