Tribal Settlement (South)
The Southern Tribe in the Scaltoth Jungle is known as the Bro'ky'na tribe by those who know such things. Which is mostly the other tribes and themselves, in fairness. No one else really knows, or cares, who they are.
The tribal settlement is on the Western side of the Southern Scaltoth and the Bro'ky'na believe themselves to be the superior of all the jungle tribes, blessed by the spirits surrounding them and understanding of the true nature of life and death in a way no other mortal is or can ever be. It is this understanding of death, of the Spirit of Death who is their Mistress which makes the Bro'ky'na superior in every way. Their lands border on the well known and universally feared (they believe) "Death Canyon", a place where they believe that the Chief Spirits meet and look at the flesh-made mortals. The Spirit of Death is the Greatest of All Spirits and all others bow before her, but the Bro'ky'na are Her children and beyond mortality.
None of the Bro'ky'na ever die of old age, for to do so is to offend the Spirit of Death and so, those few who get old and any who are ill or infirm jump into the Death Canyon and give themselves willingly to the Spirit of Death. The tribe is ruled by five members, three men and two women. Day to day, they make rules and decisions and administer the laws of the tribe. Once a year, however, they take on a much darker role. The women, known as the "Slayers of Men" have a very specific job. Throughout Cylus, when the light of the sun is gone and the Spirit of Death is said to roam the lands, the Slayers of Men kill any male-born child birthed in those trials, taking them to the nearby Murder Ground to do so. Any female child born in Cylus is a sacrifice to the Spirit of Death, but since the Spirit of Death demands sacrifices twice an arc and does not accept children as sacrifices, the female children born in Cylus, known as Dark Maidens, are raised in isolation and indoctrinated in the religion of the tribe even more than every other child. Most of them, therefore, go willingly to their death.
It is because of this fanatical devotion to the Spirit of Death that the Bro'ky'na are flourishing as a tribe, so they believe and their numbers are, surprisingly, growing. They are the strongest of the three tribes and the other two tend to mostly defer to them about most things, most of the time.
