Lorogh contemplated all the forms and methods and properties of a weapon. The many ways a singular object could devastate the foes of the Empire or the lands they dwelt in. In the end, he found he was swimming in an ocean of ideas, with no boat in sight. Every idea needed a good foundational structure, and he was lacking the very basics. The basics being, what did soldiers need in the manner of a weapon, and what was the best way to employ said weapon? So tactics was necessary to research. This led him to the first leg of his journey toward the Imperial Devastator:
The Imperial Officers Academy.
It wasn't Lorogh's first choice of a place to learn his craft, but it had all the essential knowledge and the minds to understand that knowledge to form the basis of what he needed. What did the Devastator need to be in order to best serve the Empire. What theoretical weapon could possibly even hope to scare the enemies of the Empire, so much that they never sought to strike at them?
It was a compelling question, and done that he would pose to those great military minds present at the Academy. Once, and only once he had his answer out of them, would he be prepared to take the first steps toward his goal. He'd have the vessel with which to make the journey, without failing due to a chaotic influx of ideas and haphazard day-dreams to inform his idea.
The Imperial Devastator would be a reality. But what form would that reality take?
