hone and mounts

had a question about travel time, mounts, and hone

is there any issue with a lucis granting their mount extra speed and endurance to cut travel times down? Likewise, my character has wings, so could I cut his travel time down as well? It makes sense to me logically but I realize it would reduce travel time significantly. Hone's multipliers are nuts.

Re: hone and mounts

There's no issue applying runes to those who are able to receive them. That generally includes creatures, beasts, monsters (not undead), and any mortal.

However when it comes to travel times, the answer is less straightforward.

From master level hone:
Their Runes can last a maximum of a three trials at full power due to their ability to cleverly utilize ether.
That doesn't mean you can use runes indefinitely. So while you can use a speed rune at full power for three trials, you and the mount will likely need rest even though they're moving at immense speeds for those three days. So when it comes to travel it's an open-ended answer. But when it comes to short distances or limited spaces, it leaves less room for question because less variables, such as running into obstacles, detours, inclement weather, and so on.

And even then you have only three days to use those runes at full power before needing to recover your ability to channel ether. So there's interruptions even when running or moving at full enhanced speed.

It'd have to be answered by specific mods of the city your travelling to and from, probably, since there's just too much to consider.

If that answer is unsatisfactory, I suppose you can assume that a hone mage can move at the full speed of a mount, or a flier, as listed in: Travel Times. Anything faster needs to be checked with mods.
