The news traveled fast on the river. The disappearance of several wealthy youths, who belonged to prominent merchant families trickled down to Raelia. As a Gofrith, it was Lykla's duty to make a showing for the recovery and rescue, if indeed rescue was what was needed. Lykla smirked to himself, and imagined that the youths had merely gotten out of hand, and taken the boat farther down the stream, toward Lake Svariella for a joy ride. Even so, if it put him back in the good graces of the Jarl Gofrith after having broken into his study the past season, so much the better. Some of the merchant families involved were entangled in Gofrith interests, and it wouldn't do for them to go missing for an extended period, their families worrying over their fate.
Then there was the outside chance that something bad had happened. Lykla hoped that wasn't the case, but one never knew on the River Vynmur, where the mischeivous River Spirits could lead one astray.
Lykla stood on the deck of his sloop, as he handed the notice to the runner. "Take this to the local Speaker and Crier, make sure it's in a crowded place so that more volunteers will come."
The message was simple:
Come all able-bodied men and women to search for the poor lost youths on the River Vynmur. Lykla of House Gofrith is lending his sloop to the search effort, and requires more eyes and ears to help find those who went astray on the river. All volunteers are welcome, whether having seafaring experience or not.
So he waited, getting his boat ready for travel on the River Vynmur.
In time, some few trickled in, fewer than he'd hoped, and not anyone particularly interesting. He was hoping for at least one person who could provide some entertainment and enjoyment, or this was bound to be a dull trip, launched mostly in vain.
He wore a simple outfit of yellow shirt, brown leather breeches tucked into shin-high boots, and a sleeveless blue doublet over his shirt. It was a warm Ymiden day, the rains having passed into memory in the prior few tentrials, and he didn't need a lot of covering, even while sailing the windy river.
As he prepared for embark, he kept a look out for any late joiners.
