Name Aryana
Race: Sev'ryn
DoB: 123rd Ashan, 690
Title: Gold Cloaked member of the Order of Adunih
Skills: Alchemy: Competent, Field Craft: Expert, Gardening: Competent, Medicine: Expert, Teaching: Expert
Aryana loves herbs. She loves growing them, harvesting them in the wild, and making herbal remedies out of them. Lately, she has also discovered that alchemy can be used to make herbal remedies more potent, so that is a strong interest of hers as well. She tends to care more about herbs and making herbal remedies than she does about most other things with the one exception of sharing her love of them with others, and teaching those who are interested in herbs and herbal remedies. For this reason, she prefers not to treat patents directly. But if there is need, she will do so.
She is a kind, gentle soul who hates the thought of violence. Aryana hates the thought of hurting others because she was hurt herself once by one that she trusted deeply. She knows what it is to be hurt by others, and she doesn't like inflicting pain on others even when it is necessary in order to heal them. Should there be need, that will not stop her from doing what is necessary; she simply shuts down her own feelings and retreats behind a professional barrier while she does what is needed.
Her job within the Order is twofold. Aryana works with herbs. She tends the gardens, forages for herbs, and can make just about any herbal remedy imaginable. And she is wonderful when dealing with traumatized patients; she is very good at soothing them and easing them into talking about what troubles them. She also uses alchemy to create medicines and items to help patients. When she is upset or needs some time to herself, she will often enter the Order's garden to work with the herbs, or go gather some of the ones that do not thrive in a garden.
If there is anything that Aryana loves as much as making herbal remedies and working with herbs, it is teaching others to do the same. She is endlessly patient with those she is assigned to mentor, but she will not put up with willful ignorance. She has a way of knowing when someone needs extra help with something, or if they need to be challenged. And she is gentle and soft spoken enough to put even the most timid person at ease. Aryana makes a very good mentor for anyone who wishes to focus on herbalism or psychology rather than someone wanting to tend injured/sick patients directly.
She works at the Earth Quarter Branch of the Order of Adunih.

Re: Aryana
Hi Seira,
A few points about this NPC will need sorting.
A few points about this NPC will need sorting.
- She has too many skills, and it's hard to narrow down exactly what she can do based on such a massive list of skills at competent. I'd ask that you narrow it down to 7 -8 skills. We just need her to have a discernable focus.
- You mention that she's squeamish about surgery, because of her non-violent and gentle nature. That's fine, but then she probably wouldn't enjoy being a medic at all in my opinion, as healing requires you to get your hands dirty, inevitably. It's unlikely given her temperament that you mention, that she'd do well in that calling.. I'd think about replacing her medical focus with something else, perhaps gardening or some other skill involved in gathering the things they'll need for crafting medicines? Not all gold cloaks in the Order are healers, and even those can be mentors/leaders.
- You mention that she loves all aspects of healing, but you mentioned specifically before that that she dislikes performing surgery. That's a pretty key aspect of healing, in my opinon.

I've cut this down to 8 skills, but I did increase her skill in most of them. Please let me know if she's too powerful now.She has too many skills, and it's hard to narrow down exactly what she can do based on such a massive list of skills at competent. Done. You mention that she's squeamish about surgery, because of her non-violent and gentle nature. I had meant she loves healing animals as well as people, but I do see your point, and this has been fixed as well. You mention that she loves all aspects of healing, but you mentioned specifically before that that she dislikes performing surgery. That's a pretty key aspect of healing, in my opinon.

Re: Aryana
I think she's too skilled now. If you want an idea for the skill levels that would be reasonable, have a look at the current writeup of the earth quarter location: viewtopic.php?f=139&t=4988
The resident Gray Cloak has fewer skills than this npc. Tone them way down, choose a focus. They don't need every conceivable skill under the sun as an expert in order to be a good member of the Order.
Also I'm still concerned that she's too wimpy (In terms of attitude toward surgery etc.) to heal people, and she's tasked with teaching others healing. That's unacceptable for a Gold Cloak tasked to mentor other healers
May I ask why you're writing up Adunih NPCs without being in the Order btw? Are these meant to be the Order members that Seira gets assigned to on signing up?

Re: Aryana
Sorry it took so long for me to get back to this. Between insanity at work over the holidays, and trying to get my PCs set for cycle change, this slipped my mind completely.
Earlier you did ask for me to cut her skills down to 7 or 8, which I had, but I have cut them down further. Her focus is herbal remedies (making them, growing/gathering the herbs for them, and using alchemy to make them more potent). And as a teacher/mentor teaching is important for her to have as well, so I am uncertain how to cut the number of skills down further. Hopefully this is okay?
I have also changed her personality somewhat so hopefully this makes her more suitable as a mentor.
As for why I am trying to make Order NPCs, it is because Seira will be joining the Order. I have a Saun wealth thread place holder where she will join as her wealth thread. I am hoping for Aryana to be her mentor, and for the other Order NPCs I am trying to get approved to be the team she will work with as a green cloak.

Re: Aryana
I'm just going to say it and copy paste to all three NPCs that you've submitted. I'm not happy with these npcs. They're not fit to run a band-aid stand, let alone the Dust Quarter Clinic in one of the highest demand places for healing in Rharne. Not as high ranking (blue or gold) cloaks in any section of the order. They're green cloak material at best, as they are the ones in obvious need of guidance.
Ayrana isn't guiding anyone with her lack of skill as a healer, and her complete lack of caregivin and leadership.
Darryl has attitude problems. He wouldn't last long in the Order.
Terisa is the only one that approaches even mildly acceptable but not as a blue cloak.
I suggest you work out the if and how you're going to join the Order before you jump the gun with developing NPCs for it. Faith is the leader of the Order in Rharne currently. She is available to roleplay with. I suggest you take advantage of that potential resource and learning experience, if you're serious about joining the order with Seira. Since the Order is a player faction led by Faith, she will develop any needed NPCs for the Order in Rharne.
