Well of Fortuna

Well of Fortuna

Image

There is a forgotten well in Sweet Wine woods, once used for its fresh and tempting drink now overgrown and unused, although those who stumble close enough may hear the sound of haunting song rising from its recces. If, however, one were to tear away the vines and brambles and listened very closely, they may hear soft voices and the sound of something - or someone - lurking within the darkness below.

Climbing down the well, an adventurer may be surprised to find a large pool of water, cool and refreshing but never frozen with the tiniest of silver fish darting at the depth of this curiosity and yet otherwise the body of water appears stagnant. Signs of life can be found here, as well as death. Upon the north west patch of land only accessed by swimming across the pool (or flying. See photo: left) is a skeleton wearing the garb of a pirate, clutching in his hand a blackened scabbard. The sword, however, is strangely missing.

Once a hiding place for smugglers, Fortuna's Well was a grand secret, its hallways and rooms carved out from the soil, the pool of water having once tunneled into the Eastern river and then beyond. In a great tragedy, the river passage collapsed and only the tiniest slivers of water (and fish) now trickle through. All else has been left, trapped inside forever.

Fortuna
Fortuna's name derives from her ancient lover's ship - The Hope of Fortuna -

Special

"To receive a treasure, first you must give a proper payment." - Fortuna

To those who win Fortuna's favor, she may offer the opportunity to receive a treasure from the forgotten stores of her den. Players will have two options. They may:

1. Exchange a significant memory for treasure - Trapped, Fortuna is desperate for new experience and may be willing to part with a treasure in exchange for a new memory. PCs who have earned an enchanted item may opt to approach Fortuna's crystal ball and lay their hand upon its surface. Upon contact, the recollection of a personal experience outside of their control (IC, at least) will surface and absorb into its glass, allowing Fortuna to feel and see it as if she had experienced it herself. This memory will be completely forgotten by the PC, as if it never happened and at Fortuna's command, a treasure chest will unlock with their reward. OOC the PC must link a thread to be forgotten. The item's ability must be chosen OR approved by a storyteller prior to review. If an special item has already been earned by OOC means and a player is using this location as a plot device (ex. renown rewards), they are not require to link an IC thread and can thank Fortuna's generous spirit.

2. Win a game of chance against Fortuna - Fortuna will present the player three dice with twenty sides each. If he player manages to roll above a 10 on all die, they will receive an item with equal to a Tier 1 blessing. If they roll a 15 or higher on all die, they will receive an item or weapon with a medium enchantment/Tier 2 Blessing. If the player rolls 3 20's, they win a major enchantment (and have broke the game, congrats ;)) If one or more die does not meet at least a ten, they win nothing and must gift Fortuna 10wp for wasting her time. For those who fail, they may try again at double the penalty cost for losing (paying Fortuna a total 20wp). As always, enchantments must be ok'd by a moderator with proof of approval and any loss of coin must be shown on ledger. Players cannot play with Fortuna more than twice an arc.

Sorry to see you haven't posted....

Hi

Since this piece of development hasn't been worked on or submitted for a while now, I'm moving it to Limbo.

All the best,
