2nd Vhalar 719¤
It sounded almost prophetic. Her heart soared at the prospect of continuing her training.
“I want you this time to Attune to my person Then I am going to lead you into the Ruins and using compass you're going to find me. We will do this twice where you will attune, use compass, unattune, attune, and use compass again. Consider it a work out.”
They stepped out and faced the building that was Hygge's temporary shack. With an audible exhale her breath came out, she let the feeling of attunement wash over her. It was a familiar sensation but this time had a yearning to it that felt almost addicting. She loved this feeling and wanted more. More! Dula let her head dip low and her hair fell around her face, obscuring it from view. Her brown hands rested near her knees palms grasping her thighs. Each breath she inhaled she tried going deeper into herself, pulling the frequency of the home towards her. With each exhale she pictured the frequency rushing from her body into her mind’s eye-- to her Spark.
After some time of this meditation the noise started invading her mind. The old wizard had a particularly loud frequency. He was filled with history as his years were long. She could hear a chime within it, some hard knocks, a scream, laughter, a low vibrato buzzing, among a few other notes. She wasn't sure what any of it meant. Inside her mind they all played together at once, a cacophonous symphony of noise and notes.
"Do you have it, man?"
Hygge asked, smoking his pipe pensively and giving her a look with a raised eyebrow.
"Of course I do."
She told him flatly. She didn't have to concentrate any longer, the noise was just floating passively in her mind.
"Good. Now, I'm going to take you back to the site where we fought the skadal. Ha! I won't soon forget that. You're going to lead yourself back to me. I know you don't know the way. It's far."
He was right, she didn't. In fact the whole walk back she had been too focused on staring at her new aquamarine stone to pay attention to where they were going.
They walked back through The Ruins, sun not quite gone yet as a brilliant orange and red scene played in the sky. It would be dark soon and too dangerous for her to go through the Lori on her own. Hopefully Hygge would come with her and walk her home. Finally after some time they made it to the small plaza area where the fight had happened.
"Here we are."
He said.
"Luckily no one came back to look for their treasure. Or if they did they're already gone. Now I want you to use a new skill. Compass. For this skill you're going to follow the Attunement like beacon or a smoke signal to my person. I'm leaving now, give me some time to hide before you find me again."
Sometime she waited, nervous despite being armed. Her staff would do little against larger beasts. Eventually she tried her best to feel inside of herself where he might be. Dula's eyes were closed as she went deep inside and felt her Spark nestled there.
It was easier this time. Her Spark had grown inside of her, even for Attunement its malignant wanting beckoning for her to take in more, taking too much from her at the same time. She was a novice and knew nothing of the warning signs, once again forgetting Hygge’s lesson about always asking questions. This time she would overstep although no one knew it just yet.
