Events of the Cold Cycle 718
1st of Vhalar: In celebration of the harvest season, vast shipments of crops arrive from Ethelanum, filling the streets with vendors and overloading the warehouses and marketplaces. Parties are held across the city, bars and brothels throw open their doors and loud bardy music echoes down the streets. All food and drink is 50% off.
4th of Vhalar: In the wake of the grand celebrations, it's discovered that some sneaky revelers decided to break into Salna's Warehouse in Penkath, making off with extraordinary amounts of rare spices, exotic fruits and meats of endangered animals. The estimated wealth of the lost goods exceeds 3000GN. Scandal hits the Arm Militum for not remaining vigilant during the celebrations.
8th of Vhalar: Notably large volumes of Talonir Blackwood are wheeled through the center of the city and led to the docks, and shipwright apprentices begin an aggressive campaign to hire any aspiring carpenters to join a mysterious project, operating at the highest levels of secrecy and paying double the wages of any other position. With the full backing of the Arm Nautica, such a move fuels rumours of Terrwyn's involvement. (Open)
15th of Vhalar: More claims of robbery come from a number of sources, including Thaldor's Warehouse, Tinctures and Trinkets, Rakath's Hammer, The All-Spice Bazaar and more. The Arm Militum mobilises its reserves and increases street patrols and guard duties, assigning high-risk targets with door guards. Meanwhile, shopkeepers and business owners begin directly addressing the public, pleading for someone to hunt down the thieves and return their stolen goods. (Open)
22nd of Vhalar: A local madman proclaims that the world will come to an end next season. While many pay no attention, the local brothels lower their prices by 25% to give you 'one last ride before you die', probably as a joke.
34th of Vhalar: A raid is conducted on a supposed hideout of thieves and their stolen goods - many are chased across Yithiral and eventually hunted down. (Open)
38th of Vhalar: Visiting members of Platikar Vyrtha, acting on behalf of the Venerakis Ranculos Mythra, arrive in the city to secure a new trade agreement over the next few seasons, promising new shipments of silk. Vericus spearheads the arrangement, however one of the higher dignitaries lets slip that Terrwyn is also attending, sending the whole city bursting into rumours and questions. (Open)
41st of Vhalar: Rex of the Arm Ecclesia gives a speech in the Fields of Stone, encouraging strength for coming battles and endurance for the colder seasons. He and his assistants offer guidance to those who seek it.
42nd of Vhalar: One of the visiting Platikar Vyrtha members is mugged at knifepoint in the streets of Itherium. (Open)
44th of Vhalar: The Platikar Vyrtha dignitaries flee the city with a full escort of mounted Scythes. Tensions rise as the existence of a rising crime wave in Yithiral is officially recognised, and the Arm Inquirium begins investigating the cause.
50th of Vhalar: Mercenary groups are seen operating around the city, not only guarding establishments but escorting the rich through the streets. Many are arrested for illegally carrying unbound weapons or disturbing the peace, but their numbers continue to rise.
66th of Vhalar: Four men are found dead in the morning, arms and legs and throats slashed open, intentionally done so that the victim dies slowly. Later investigation confirms them to be the four thieves responsible for the mugging of the Platikar Vyrtha.
73rd of Vhalar: With tensions at an all-time high, shock hits the Berry Plaza of the First Market when one of the stall owners unsheathes his sword and mutilates a woman in the street, cutting off both her hands while screaming 'thief' over and over again. Nearby guards execute him on the spot, pronouncing him deranged, and close down the plaza for the remainder of the day.
78th of Vhalar: The smiths of the city are overwhelmed with orders and requests as citizens attempt to arm themselves, and the prices of all weapons and armour within the city increase as resources grow scarce.
91st of Vhalar: A curfew is put in place across the city - anyone found wandering the streets after dark will be immediately escorted home. Repeat offenses will result in more severe punishment.
93rd of Vhalar: Heated words are exchanged in the Arm Militum Headquarters, as the Arm Nautica fights to retain funding for its new projects, spearheaded by Terrwyn and endorsed by her brothers and sisters, while the rest of the Arm Militum struggles to deal with the massive crime wave currently sweeping over the city. Vericus is forced to intervene after Terrwyn allegedly punches the Rex Militum in the jaw, and Arm Iuris pledges additional funds and manpower to support the Militum to prevent any further conflict.
111th of Vhalar: For the first time in the history of Idalos, members of the Grand Zealotry are seen within the walls of Yithiral. Working alongside the Arm Militum to restore law to the city, many express concerns over the Grand Zealotry's unusual practices, including acting as judge, jury and executioner in cruel and unusual punishments for made-up crimes. Given the current circumstances however, these transgressions are overlooked by the higher command.
