Brief summary of what you did:

Kura got upset with her cold fingers because they were not being cool (get it?) Kura suggested a plan of action to get water into the city and stop the fires. She relayed information about the Candlemaker having a hostage and wanting to speak to Balthazar. Kura also attempted to use her influence to get the bird under control (promises them good feeding) and discover what was making them so upset. At the end, she flips Ol' Tuck's Luck to see what it does. (Hoping for good luck.)

Balthazar continues to hit people in masks but now he is also punching birds that are flying at him. He is trying to use his enchanted boots to stay ahead of the birds. He makes suggestions to Kura about how she can have the Elements deal with the fire and suggests that they act while the Candlemaker is talking. He also gives Kura a bracelet so that she can project her voice to talk to the Candlemaker. Balthazar continues to maintain his portal which is funneling fumes out of the sky and pushing them towards the pirate ships. Oh he also took on the form of a fire spirit (ability from the Mountain King) so he looks like he is made of fire. He did this to try and scare people away from him so that he could focus more on talking to Kura.

Okie! Sooooooo........

1. Kura's fingers a chilly!
2. Balth is right about the portalling water thing - and why it wouldn't be super effective.
3. Fire is pretty much out of control at this point. Biiiiig fires.
4. Kura can indeed communicate with the birds and she will get a general sense (not specifics, but like, in pictures) of what Nir'wei did and how it got to this point (fish to frog to flying feathered fings!) It's a very strong ability and it's spreading very quickly. The problem is that it's exponential - and it's exponential in terms of them, too - cos each owl makes every other owl feel hangry. So, you've got 1 hangry owl in a group of 20 other hangry owls and they all add to each others hangry-ness...... I'm losing the metaphor, but you get it? While they're together like this - it's hard to break. But - Kura notices something. The animals in the yellow fog? They're MUCH worse (much more hangry) and they're the ones that are "transmitting" to the others. :)
5. The coin lands on Tails. Kura is granted one Songforged ability from the abilities available to someone of a Primus Centurion rank.
6. Balth turning into a fire-fella works. Big time. People are already spun out and this makes them avoid him very much.
7. When he punches birds flying at him, he discovers something. They die easily. Too easily. Like their systems are overloaded and the shock of being hit kills them dead.
8. The fire doesn't damage the ships as much as it should. Maybe they're prepared for fire?
9. The Candlemaker speaks into his Megaphone.

"Hand over the Fire Forged Rose and we will return the hostages. Fail to do so and the first hostage," he motioned to Millicent, like he knew he was seen. "Will die. Speak to me, Albarech, and I'll consider stopping the fires."

And then, there's silence. :)

Brief summary of what you did:

Kura gave orders for the Elements to try Balthazar's plan to douse the fires and tells Balthazar about the birds. She also orders the owls out of the smoke and to spread out away from each other to try alleviate the hangry. Kura and Balthazar discuss their plan and some magic limitations, and then Kura talks with Candlestick Maker. Balthazar and Kura are both having their Diri do some scouting, and Balthazar is trying to see what's happening to local spirits that get caught in the smoke.

Posts were short because of the conversation, and I wasn't sure if Kura needed to choose the Songforged power right away.

Brief summary of what you did:

Kura has seemingly agreed to the Candlemaker's demands and publicly issued an order to get him what he asked for. She is hoping that the Spirit Elements will be able to read between the lines and understand she is not giving into his demands. Kura and Balthazar prepared to get the two hostages that they know about. Kura has attempted to engage in conversation with the fire entity, pointing out that they freed the induks so it is rude that it is attacking because really- the audacity. Kura sends her diri to tell Faldrass about the Chuckles-like thingy and ask if Faldrass can do anything.

Balthazar is still presenting as a fire spirit and he makes suggestions/reports information to Kura. He has asked his diri of death to find out how many pirates are on the ship with hostage number 2- the one who isn't married. He has asked Fuego if Faldrass could convince the fire to just cut it out and stop being rude. Hopefully management (Faldrass) isn't bombarded by employee (diri) complaints.

Okie dokie! Interesting stuff and good work!

1. Candlestick maker is silent for a moment, then an explosion of fire happens somewhere in Almund - you can hear it, hear the screams, hear the shouting, see the smoke. His voice comes again. "Don't play games me with, Karem-born. Get it, and get it NOW!" any one who can see him will see that he spoke to a few people nearby. Anyone who can see him with good Detection (Expert +) will see that he's looking very confident, very commanding. Anyone who sees that and also has Psychology at Expert+ will know that he's not feeling half as confident as he's making himself seem to be.

2. The report comes back pretty quickly - Faldrass knows about the Chuckles-entities. They are not - repeat - NOT acting under Faldrass' command and Faldrass had believed them dead. The entities in question scream and writhe as Kura speaks to them. They sound like they are in pain. Then, one of them screeches out "help us" and, as it does, great gashing wounds appear over it.

3.Diri of death can give you a rough number -it reckons a huindred, maybe.

4. Faldrass is rather busy, but tries to reach out to the chuckles-entities. Diris will report back that these creatures are corrupted, not pure. They are not true fire nor are they of Faldrass or Scalvoris any more. They are like the yellow mist, which is why there are not anaks here. They burn, the Diris explain. They burn them. Even looking at them hurts.


As for plans for rescuing folks. When you do it, I'll let you know!

Brief summary of what you did.

Woe:

Woe and Fleaface fight - Woe gets scarred and Fleaface leaves.

Faith:
  • 2 x Kaldvinds continue to rip and tear and rend apart the Wicked Reaver
  • Grab teleport-y guy's dagger.
  • Use hibernating breath power on the Reaver.
  • Go to Woe and heal him.

Okay. Okay okay okay.

Woe, you are knocked unconscious as per your own post and are out of the remainder of the event. However, Fleaface's actions and Woe's past allegiences attract other Webspinners, and Woe is not the only one in Egilrun that has drawn Sintra's ire.

Faith's actions go off as planned, except for when she goes to heal Woe. Her powers, inventions, and personality are, increasingly, becoming known. Known, accounted for, and in some cases, copied and turned to darker uses. Of course Faith would go to heal Woe, what else could she do. It's when she kneels to check on him that the assassin makes his move, firing at her with a crossbow, the bolt tipped with one of the few times she had made a weapon of war. It was a recreation one of the bolts that she and Padraig had made to help fight against Ellasin, the head filled with a toxin that shuts down vital organs in only a few bits. Ordinarily, Faith was well protected against such attacks. Ordinarily, Faith wasn't spreading her attention and powers around to heal people maintain a wall of water, and attack ships.

Faith, with all her attention spread every which way and still only Mortal, wasn't able to dodge this one, and even her own healing powers couldn't act fast enough to save her this time, largely due to the paralytic. In only a few short bits, Faith Augustin was dead. Her powers, of course, failed shortly after her death, and the Falcon, which had been picking up members of the Slit Throat's crew that had survived that situation, soared out of the rushing water alongside the Wicked Reaver. But now the Elements were fully aware of them, both ships were badly damaged, and they were clearly unhappy about the new ship that was approaching. Within a few bits, the two ships surrendered.

As to Faith's assassin, he didn't survive very long either, as Faith's Kaldvind was it's own being and did not disappear when she died. It went to Faith's body and found the assassin checking to make sure she was dead and getting ready to kill Woe. The assassin did not survive a fight with an angry Dragonling, and the Kaldvind was seen flying away from Egilrun soon after.

Egilrun was successfully defended, but at a great cost in the end. This thread is finished and will be reviewed shortly.

Brief summary of what you did:
Kura assures the fire entities that they will help and tells Balthazar to relax before pulling the biggest touchdown run of the arc. Kura tells Balthazar to save the hostage and destroy the ships then she teleports onto the ship in front of the Candlemaker, she opens a portal to Saoire's using a Telka ability, kicks Millicent through the portal, and then fires her multi-shot (explosive) arrow at the Candlemaker's feet before activating her gateway ring and teleporting right back to the docks for the fireworks. But wait, there's more! She then turned and used the Songforged ability she was granted (Twister) to throw a tornado into the fire. She has also issued orders for the Elements with Defiance (Wind) to try and dispel the smoke while Element with Defiance (Fire) attack the ships.

Balthazar makes some suggestions and then is told he doesn't have to play well with others anymore. Balthazar activated his necklace to give himself a bubble of breathable air and then jumped through his portal and shot himself over the pirate ships. He attempted to hit two of the ships with corrosive ether missiles to melt holes into their hulls and cause them to take on water. He also attempted to his the ship the hostage is on with a bolt of lightning (not domain magic) and teleport along that lightning to reach the ship before anyone can react to what Kura is doing. If he makes it to the ship he attempts to reach the hostage, using various magics to bypass most fighting and reach the hostage before the situation can change. If he reaches the hostage, he attempts to move them both through a portal back to the docks.

Brief summary of what you did:
Kura discovers that she's been stabbed and quickly realizes she has also been poisoned. Callie reports that the artillery is still sabotaged and not working while Elements begin to try and go through with Kura's orders. Kura makes a plea to Daia for help, cashing in her Immortal Favor from Daia and then Kura goes back to hurling tornados until it is out of style. She orders Balthazar to look for any artifacts he can find that might be allowing the entities to be tortured.

Balthazar is very disappointed in his sparks and stops presenting as a blue fire spirit. He also has a little combat sequence as requested and either unties Dweezle or melts the ropes off of his hands. Once Balthazar has the hostages he tells Crow and Fuego to look for any artifacts that they think could be causing what is happening with the fire entities. He will attempt to get Dweelze onto the deck and open another portal but if he can't, he will just try to fly back to the docks with Dweelze using Embrace. If he gets back to the docks either way and sees Kura, he will offer to put her in 'suspension' until her wound can be dealt with. He doesn't know about the poison.

Okie dokie - last modnote, cos I need to get started on the calendars!

Ok so - Kura calls in her favour. She feels the effects of the poison fade, but it's like it's in the background, not gone but just held away for the moment.
The Elements are moving now - both Kura and Balth see that the fires and smoke are slowly dissipating (Kura's Tornados help)
Balth unties Dweezle.
Crow and Fuego can't find any artifacts at all.
With a suitable swashbuckle, there's no issue with Balth getting on the deck.
Balth will find that literally no magic works at all. If he's relying on magic - he (and Dweezle) are stuck there.....

If you both want to / are able to post one more time before Thursday evening (UK time) I'll take it into account. But either way, I just want to say awesome work both of you. You've both really surprised me with your ingenuity. Awesome RP. And a special thanks to Balth for the updates which made me chuckle!
