Staff Recruitment!

Hello everyone! So I am here today to announce that we are doing a staff recruitment drive, especially for Storytellers. It's because of our awesome players that cities are becoming more and more active and now we are looking for some more hands on deck.

While the various staff positions across the teams are always open for recruitment, what we really need are Storytellers that can join in and help in existing cities. The following cities are looking for more people to help tell their stories. Please reach out to the city mods if you are interested in their location. When you are ready to apply please see the application form here.

Regrettably, I must inform you all that Anomaly has decided to step down from staff. She'll be sticking around on Toraj, her PC, though, so please go and give her lots of love and snoogles. She's done good work for ST in the past, working on both Jesnine and Kielik's blessings, and the Dreamwalking skill as well as the change to the EXP system way back in the day, so while it is a shame to see her step down, the work she's done for the site helped to make it a much better place for all of us.

Update on Host / Server Issues!!!


Hi all!

We are continuing to have a few problems with our hosting service. Tech Support knows and is on it - we're waiting for them to run a specific diagnostic and send the report before he can fix the issue. They've assured us it will be asap so - watch this space. In the meantime, the thing to do is just copy before your post, hitting the back button and retrying seems to work the best. But we are on it! Sincere apologies for the inconvenience.

Small quality of life update. The PB Collection thread and the Medal Nomination thread have both been moved to the PSF. Why? So that they are more visible to us mods and can therefore be handled more regularly and readily. Thanks!

Mortalborns Patch Update

First, a few clarifications on the 2nd MB rules. We've removed and replaced 2 of the 3 rules concerning 2nd MB rules.

Old Rules
  • You must actively and consistently roleplay your first mortalborn for at least six months.
  • You must not have accrued any warnings from the staff relating to cheating, plagiarizing, harassment, or anything that goes against Standing Trials TOU.
  • You MUST be able to keep your Mortalborn active. Any Mortalborn PC that has gone three months without activity, without a good reason given by the player, will become an NPC.
New Rules
  • In creating a 2nd, new Mortalborn, you must have actively and consistently roleplayed your PCs for at least the last 6 months from the date you are applying for your 2nd, new Mortalborn. Additionally, these 6 months of activity must come after the date your first Mortalborn was deemed approved. These dates will be checked at the very beginning of the Mortalborn approval process. If the dates are not met, the ticket will be closed and moved to Limbo.
  • In creating a 2nd Mortalborn, through discovering that an existing PC is said Mortalborn, that particular PC must have been actively and consistently roleplayed for at least the last 6 months from the date you are applying for your 2nd Mortalborn. Additionally, these 6 months of activity must come after the date your first Mortalborn was deemed approved. These dates will be checked at the very beginning of the Mortalborn approval process. If the dates are not met, the ticket will be closed and moved to Limbo. The reason for this change was to clarify the activity we expect in order to earn a Mortalborn, to open it up across all PCs instead of simply the first MB, and to remove the rule of PC MBs being automatically NPCd.



MB Domains Update

Mortalborns are now allowed to have the same domains as one another. This can be represented in a few different ways, with the idea that not only does this make it easier for PCs to make their Mortalborns (many of which use synonyms of domains instead of separate ones altogether), but we also feel will spur on competition for Immortals with similar domains, as well as competition among Mortalborns of the same parent.

Examples below.

Example: Bob the MB is born of Chrien, and has the domains of Tornadoes, Dice games, and Pettiness. Sheila the MB is born of Delroth, and has the domains of Tornadoes, Penguins, and Bankers. They share tornadoes because Chrien has Storms, whereas Delroth has Wind.

Example 2: Chrien has Bob, Lila, and Fernando MBs. All three share Tornadoes as a domain under her Storms domain. As such she wishes to see which of those 3 become the strongest within that particular domain. And should Bob one day achieve that through a form of ascension, he might be able to fully take control of the domain as Immortals do now. But until such time, he'd be competing with his brethren for the power from it, and the use of it.

What Was That Rumbling!

No one knew why it happened - some said that it was mother Moseke herself, pleased with the Tunawa. Others believed it was a bad omen, though there are always naysayers. But why it happened, no one really knows, save perhaps the Immortals themselves.

But on the 60th Vhalar 718, in Desnind, there was a reverberating, almost melodic rumbling from the rocks and earth deep, deep below the city in the trees. It continued all trial and the residents of Moseke's home wondered at it - but there at least, there was not panic. Because there, from the Temple to Moseke the reverberating was a beautiful song. All who heard it that trial felt their hearts soar with hope.

And then, over the next few trials across Idalos, in towns and cities, in forests and villages, up mountains and next to babbling brooks ~ without consideration or concern, it seemed, for where, sprouted Ojogbon Trees. Once they burst forth from the ground, within three breaks a full grown tree stood where a sapling had been.

Far beneath the ground, the roots of this most unusual and holy tree spread across Idalos. Connected, intertwined.

Communicating? Whispering? Perhaps. But the repercussions of this event would rumble throughout the land... from beneath ... in ways as yet unimagined.

Aberration Rewrite News

Aberration has been pulled from lore in order to be rewritten. As such, it is now to be treated as an Unwritten Magic. What this means is that you cannot use this magic IC, cannot progress it in skills or knowledges. Any previous skill points or knowledges will remain and be grandfathered in. This decision came from Basilisk, Developer Team Lead, at the recommendation of Aegis, Lore Analysis Team Lead.

Basilisk and Pegasus are currently working on the rewrite, so any further questions may be directed to them.

Update on Host / Server Issues!!!


Hi all!

So, very long story short. the host provider took us down again last night. Tech Support and I have been talking about it and the bottom line is, as much as we can kick off at them, we need an upgrade to our server status. Therefore, we're upgrading today. Now. That might involve some downtime - maybe 30 minutes. But that's on the host, and will not be something we have control over.

This does involve quite a bit of work behind the scenes from him and me - and therefore, I'm going to try and pass on a few threads to people who will be quicker than me for the next week or two as we do this. Thanks for your patience with this and, any questions, please let me know! Throughout today, I'd just save your posts before you post them. I'll announce here once we're upgraded.

Hi all!

We've upgraded so the errors / falling over / "this page can not be found" / 404 Internal Server / arrrgh errors should stop now. This can take up to 48 hours to "switch" on your DNS (I don't know what that means....)

So - please clear your cache, etc, bear with us if you continue to have errors for the next few hours and hopefully.... that's the end of that.

And just to note. I'd just like to give a shout out to Tyrant. Who, when I was stressing in Staff Chat, just quietly said the following:

"We have so many people attempting to write their stories on our site, so much interest that we require more resources.
This is a good problem to have."

So - I'm really thankful for those words. For the truth of them - and for this community. Yay!
