At last, it began to feel as though he might be able to make an escape out of this damn hall and away from prying eyes again. Cold huffed against the back of his head in mild agitation, though he couldn't tell whether it was for the same reason as his, or the exact opposite. At the very least, they'd managed to move on from the little outburst... and with any luck, one way or another, he wouldn't have to worry about hiding his emotions for at least another season. How did they manage to avoid tearing each-other to shreds? "Thank you, Councillor Doran," he breathed out as he sat back in his chair. "My door is always open. To discuss this, or anything else currently in progress." That much he'd actually be more than happy to do, since it might mean he could broker out a few more arrangements without more snouts poking in and asking for a piece. It was so very clear already that Councillor Zana was intent on doing just that - but, of course, he wasn't too worried. Much for the same reason that he cast a glance to Rand, rippling with raw influence after his latest speech and yet still so unaware of what was happening to his many leashes, before focusing squarely on Zana once more and sucking in a short breath.
"And your request is appreciated. As I said, my door is always open to discussing the ongoing proposal drafts and operations of Natural Affairs," he explained with an open hand gesturing idly, "though, there's no cause for concern, regardless. The actions that would impact the areas of multiple Councillors, or directly or indirectly affect their work and the ways they work, will always be presented before the full Council, in these meetings, as proposals. My little idea is no different - in time, everyone will get a chance to hear it, and vote on it, and everyone's voices will be heard to scrutinise it whatever ways they deem necessary." And that was exactly what he was counting on - since having so many Councillors weighing in on issues that had absolutely nothing to do with them or their activities could be both a blessing and a curse, especially when they didn't know the finer details, or the full picture. Though, this wasn't really politics anymore. It wasn't even some sort of military battle on multiple fronts. This was about taming the beasts of the Council.
Some of them needed to be coaxed with seeds and grass. Some needed a stern hand to be pushed in the right direction. Some needed bound by experience. And some just needed to feel the fangs. "That's all. I look forward to speaking with you in the future." There was nothing else to say, on any of the matters actually. Opinions, of course he had those abound, but he knew better than to start up something else when they were so close to just getting out of there already. Besides - while the idea of yet more Councillors to cover yet more people and cause yet more confusion seemed like perhaps one of the worst ideas to ever be suggested, especially when they were still struggling to even fill seats as it was, there seemed to be a fair few people with significant interest in the matter, and who was he to start complaints with all of them at once?
