[Immortals' Tongue] In this place of wrath and tears

40th Vhalar, 717

The brunette Sev'ryn looked at Kura with a nod, relying her message to the amber eyed wolf who phased into spirit form even as he loped to join Phelan. In this place, and with her Velduris experience, the brunette trusted Kura's orders and actions. Shifting The Huntress from her chest to her hands, Kali'rial readied an arrow as they moved forward into the island towards the Flora ruins, bare feet padding through the stormy wet ground.

"Sarkis is nervous already, I can sense it." The huntress said quietly to Pash, shooting Tio a nod as he approached. Her gaze swept the area as they walked, taking in Qit'ria's drawn body language and everyone's general unease. It wasn't just the wolves that noticed the presence of...something. The wolf-walker could sense what few prey animals lived in the foliage moving away at a rapid pace. As they passed along the heavily forested pathway, there was a rustling. A shifting in the trees.

And that was all the warning they had before abominations burst from the cover. Kali drew her bow without hesitation, aiming for the humanoid even as Qit lept into the fray with javelin targeting the mutated flunny. She levelled her shot at its torso, releasing and grabbing immediately for another arrow even as Sarkis phased into snarling solid form as he took a running bound towards the monster, jaws wide to clamp down on its vile throat.

A vivid memory of flesh eating bugs pouring from the eye of the horror in the Fauna ruin's flashed through her mind.

"Don't aim for the faces!" The southerner yelled as she drew another arrow tight, trusting Sakris as she turned to release her second shot into the thigh of the one running for her seafaring bard.

[Immortals' Tongue] In this place of wrath and tears

Pash was willing to help wrap the body, making the comment that if the tide shifted while they were exploring the rest of the island, she should be left somewhere out of the reach of the waves. While Kura’s actions made him curious, he didn’t feel the need to ask too many questions in the moment, instead eager to get moving once Treloar introduced himself.

While they took care of the woman and somewhat prepared to head off, the seafaring musician used the first few moments to pay quiet attention—he watched Qit’ria and Kura, he listened to Treloar. Tio he knew and Kali he knew intimately, and yet he tried to take in all of their mannerisms and moods, the tones of their voices and inflections of their accents, their facial expressions and movements: to get a sense of who they were just in case one of them was manipulated again, just in case someone else ended up in their tangles. He needed to stay alert to that, for if an Empath attacked him, he’d know. But anyone else? He’d have to be vigilant.

The weather was completely different from when they’d last traveled the island, at least in Pash’s memory. Kali’rial had described similar conditions in some bizarre sort of way, despite them having been on the Immortal’s Tongue on the same trial and at the same time. As unpredictable as Scalvoris weather had proven itself, this was clearly different, and the tall Biqaj didn’t linger staring at the strange shapes that the clouds taunted him with in order to focus on his footing. He was careful this time, some of the rough spots familiar, the particular spot where he’d paused to help Yolande not forgotten. His left bicep itched at the memory, and he scrambled past a little quicker and a little more determined, gritting his teeth at the thought.

Once they’d cleared the cliffs a bit, Tio couldn’t help himself, clearly just as anxious as the rest of them. The seafaring musician mirrored the same cheeky smirk back at the blonde, emerald gaze stealing a sideways glance at his lover before he replied with a conspiratory baritone, “Cupcake—what? Y’ think? I’ll tell y’ th’ truth, she was wild long b’fore Karem marked her as her own, m’ friend, an’ that’s fine by me.” Pash winked, expression turning wicked, “As for how ’t all works, well, I’ll keep that t’ myself, nelo qe, but I’m no’ complainin’ there either.”

He almost laughed, but then the dark-haired Sev’ryn was beside him, interrupting his moment of somewhat inappropriate bragging, whispering a warning. He felt it, too, the crawling feeling over his tanned, inked skin that he was being watched, that they all were. Drawing his dagger, he quieted and shifted to walk between his lover and his friend, trusting her Velduris-enhanced senses over his own.

It was perhaps only a heartbeat or two after those words of warning that terrible, moss-covered things burst from the undergrowth. Some of them looked humanoid but some of them were still recognizable as animals—were these what Kali and Tio had seen? Moss zombies?

Zanik give them all strength, they were disgusting and scary.
He had little time to choose his opponent: two creatures barreled straight him as he moved his body into a more defensive stance, cursing the close combat nature of his skillset at the sight of dripping claws and foaming mouths. Pash didn’t hear his huntress shouting a warning to avoid their faces, for the screech of the strange wolf-like dog left his ears ringing. Still, he simply had to act, and he stepped toward the moss-man-thing just as Kura’s spirit wolf, Phelan, rammed bodily into the screaming moss-covered dog.

The tall, purple moss-covered zombie was fast, perhaps faster than himself, which eliminated Pash’s preference for being quicker than his opponents. He probably wasn’t stronger, either, but his uncle had reminded him time and again that neither of these things mattered in the end. What mattered was striking first and striking hardest. Besides, this moss zombie was smaller than a snowbeast, among other things. He moved with defensive confidence typical of his every day bravado into the creature’s personal space, free arm up to block with his leather bracer, dagger held at a ready to strike ice pick position instead of a hammer grip. The seafaring minstrel was prepared to block and dodge, tide pool gaze watching the moss zombie’s movements. If he made it close enough, he aimed his dagger for the neck or the chest, wanting to backhand slash it somewhere important and rake the blade away, giving him momentum for a follow up swing if his first made contact.

Because of his Competency in Empathy magic, Pash exudes an aura of calm emotion that is always "on." While it's not strong enough to overcome extreme emotions and it also loses strength the more people he's around, it's still up to you how that affects your character in whatever situation we're in. PM with questions!

I thank whatever gods may be,
For my unconquerable soul...
The decision was made, actions taken. Consequences, both positive and negative, would come. Some, of course, would arrive sooner rather than later.
Qit'ria
Qit'ria walked, whilst they debated and decided. This was not her type of thing and the Sev'ryn had no patience for it. Her actions, or lack of them, were noted. When she walked off as they were dealing with the corpse and deciding what to do, where to go, Treloar spoke to her. "We are here to protect you," he said. "If you leave the group, I do not protect you. Stay with the group." He did not look happy when he said it, in fact he had a look on his face which told a lot of what he thought of Qit'ria's actions thus far.

I work alone unlocked. NPC reaction adjusted! Kura
The council member and the ranking Air Troop seemed to be getting on well and he nodded his understanding of her words. As much as he was annoyed at the lack of compassion by those who were not helping, he seemed to like Kura. He certainly worked with her and although he kept command of his people, he included her in the discussion about what to do and how to do it, dealing with her with respect.

There is no "I" in team unlocked. NPC reaction adjusted! Tio
Tio couldn't remain as the dark and sombre dude all the time, he soon reverted to his usual happy self. When he teased Kali about her fangs, it was a return to form. Thankfully for him, none of the moss-monsters mossters were attacking him! Luck was on his side!

The funny one always dies first! unlocked. NPC reaction adjusted!
Kali'rial
Kali'rial was a quiet and earnest group member, not stopping for idle chit chat, although she kept a focus on the others and watched out for them. Her actions were that of a quiet huntress.

Silent, but deadly unlocked. NPC reaction adjusted!
Pash
And Pash was more than willing to help with taking care of the dead woman, before moving with them. He too made sure that he was watching the others, observing and learning. He almost seemed quiet and stern, but then Tio spoke to him and Pash couldn't miss the opportunity!

A bard for all seasons unlocked. NPC reaction adjusted!
All....
Kura asked about the skills and abilities of the troops with them and Treloar nodded. "Of course, that's very sensible, ma'am." He considered it carefully then answered. "We are all skilled with melee weapons and bow. The animals are combat trained, so will not panic in a combat situation. They're better trained than horses, less jittery or likely to be distracted." Was there anything else, he wondered politely.

It had to be said, he raised an eyebrow when Tio called Kali'rial 'Cupcake' and asked about making out with fangs. Treloar had a good 'game face', but the twinkle of amusement in his eyes was obvious, albeit only for a brief second. He gave Pash a grin at the bard's response, but then fell back into serious. He, much like Kali, kept an eye out around them. And then, there was a rustling noise and they were attacked within moments. As that happened, a number of things happened simultaneously. Qit'ria flung her javelin at a small flying rabbit. Kura got her bow and fired. The other thing that Kura did, though, was take away some of her own concentration by talking ~ and she gave out an order or two along the way. This meant that, considering her skill level, she got one arrow off but it flew with accuracy.

Whilst that was ongoing Tio dropped and got his tinder box. He was still in the process of lighting his torch, but he had a plan ~ hopefully everyone was still alive when it came to fruition! At least if they weren't, they wouldn't have to worry about the jungle burning down!

Now, Qit'ria was not, in fact, particularly skilled with a javelin and so choosing a relatively small, fast moving target in a melee might not have been the best idea in the world. As her javelin struck Kali'rial in the shoulder, that probably seemed quite likely - especially for Kali'rial. Kura's speaking to the animals didn't exactly stop her from moving, but it inevitably split her focus. Her arrow, however, hit, embedding in the face of the humanoid. That gave the group something which they could learn from.

Apparently, whatever drove these moss-monsters, they could take an above-average amount of damage.

An arrow directly to the face would normally, at least, slow a person down. Not these.

Kali'rial shot an arrow into the torso of the moss monster bearing down on her and it was here that her superior skill with the bow showed ~ she was about to get a second shot off when she felt the javelin which Qit'ria had thrown embed into her shoulder. It was immediately painful, slicing through flesh and blood started to pour. Thankfully, the javelin didn't stay stuck in there, but she was injured and, since it was her shoulder, the huntress would not be using her bow again in a hurry.

Pash, meanwhile, was forced to go hand to hand with his moss-zombie. Despite his excellent skill, he found that it and he were more or less evenly matched. Which was probably a bit of a worry to anyone who was watching, because he was good. Speedy, accurate and fearless ~ that was what it was that this creature was and Pash had it, and it's very big and unpleasant dog on him too. Phelan was fighting the dog-thing, so Pash and his opponent were locked in combat.

By keeping things hand to hand, Pash was able to act defensively, to keep his moss monster busy. Neither one of them had the upper hand - but he realised his mistake when he swung his dagger. He might have been able to act entirely defensively and hold it at bay, but when he swung the dagger, he hit the creature as it, too, hit him. Dagger sliced through moss-flesh as it returned the favour.
Then, of course, once one had worked out what it was that our heroes' attacks had done, there were the return attacks of the moss monsters. Long talon-like claws at the end of rotting and moss-covered fingers were coated in a strange liquid. As Pash's dagger embedded in the neck of his, ice-pick style, it sliced long claw along his ribs, left open to being attacked by the motion of his attack. He, too, felt blood start to flow and a strange burning sensation where the claws sliced at his flesh.

The dog which was with Pash's opponent turned snarling fangs towards Phelan as the large beast attacked. The two of them went down together, matched in size and strength. There were snarls and growls and the sound of teeth ripping into flesh - on both parts. As Phelan bit into it, it bit into him. Fangs and claws flashed and moved.

Sarkis, too, jumped to the one which was attacking Kali'rial, aiming to rip out its throat. This was a good thing, in truth, as Kali'rial was vulnerable from the friendly fire she'd been injured by. Still, as Sarkis jumped and ripped out a chunk of flesh, the moss-zombie not only did not stop, but long liquid-coated talons sliced into the wolf, down his left flank and raking open his flesh. The flunny, currently uninjured, continued to fly directly at Kali'rial with the aim of ripping off her face. It was scuppered in this by the unexpected movement from Kali'rial as the javelin hit, but alongside the damage to her shoulder, she had what appeared to be a undead rabid flunny swipe a small but very sharp claw at her, opening up a gash across her chest.

The one on Kura reached the mortalborn and sliced at her, it's long fingers reaching, easily enough. Kura's arrow had done nothing to slow it down and with the bow in her hand it was, or seemed to be, about to rip off one half of her face when it's left hand and arm literally fell to the floor as Teloar sliced it with his sword. It didn't slow the beast down, but it meant that it couldn't use that hand to open Kura's flesh which had been it's aim. It turned, lifting it's right arm.

On observation, it seemed that Round 1 went to the Moss Bros.
Objectives:
1.Don't Die!!

2. Keep each other alive!

3. Avoid friendly fire!

Qit'ria hadn't realized just how fast the flunny was until it was far too late. She'd wildly underestimated it, and she watched in ashamed horror as the spear flew forward and struck Kali'rial's shoulder from behind. Not only had she not hit the target she'd been aiming for, but she'd hit the only forest brethren she'd had on this island. And the javelin hadn't even pierced deep. A poorly aimed throw and a weak one at that. And because of it, she watched as Kali was struck by the flunny.

Much to her own surprise, likely due to Kali being brethren, and injured by her, Qit'ria rushed forward, to provide some cover for the other Sev'ryn huntress. Drawing her shortsword from the straps on her thigh, she growled loudly, putting herself between the injured Kali'rial and the flunny which had struck her. She released a loud, growling snarl, attempting to mimic the forest cats from back home, and unsteadily held her sword out in front of her.

No longer thinking, Qit found herself doing something she'd never done for anyone in her life. She was protecting another person. She knew, and clearly everyone else would now know, that she wasn't strong in a fight. But she could keep the vicious flunny busy, or at least off of Kali. Snarling once more, Qit took a heavy stomp at the creature, attempting to provoke it toward her. Rather than trying to go toward the creature, she waited for it to come to her. It was far too fast to hit for her skill, so she had to bring it to herself. Keeping the sword raised, she kept her sword arm coiled, ready to chop downward at it if it came toward her and Kali.

Tio's eyes lit up in anticipation as the fire began to catch on the rag, and looked back to where the others were fighting to select his target. The scene was looking pretty grim already; Kali had a javelin in her arm, which by the looks of things had been thrown by Qit'ria, Pash was locked in hand-to-hand combat with one of the mossters, and Kura's arrow had done nothing to stop the creature charging at her. Overall it seemed like the mossters were winning this fight so far. To make matters worse all of the mossters were very close to one of his teammates, which meant that if he tried to hit them with his firebombs he risked setting fire to his allies as well.

So then which one should he target? Pash and Kali had both sustained injuries in their fights, and so might not be able to react fast enough to get out of the way. Kura and Teloar however had yet to be injured in their clash with the one armed mosster, which had just overshot its initial charge and now had to stop to turn around, and so should be able to get out of the way in time. As a plus the turn the mosster was currently doing was leading it to face away from him, and so it'd need to turn around again in order to see his firebomb which would eat up the precious time it had to react to it.

"Kura! Teloar! Move! Firebomb incoming!" He yelled, giving them both time to look at him and understand what he was doing before he threw his flaming projectile in the direction of the one-armed mosster. In the unlikely event that the creature could understand common his warning might give it enough time to react as well, but that was a risk he'd have to take.

[Immortals' Tongue] In this place of wrath and tears

Out of the corner of an eye, he saw Kura’s spirit wolf barrel into the screeching moss-dog thing, but he was forced to keep his focus on the man-shaped moss monster, unable to pay attention to the combat going on around him, unable to keep track of Kali’rial and the other moss monsters that were assaulting his companions. The warped creature was fast, and while he could have continued to dodge for quite some time, finding its motions not predictable so much as noticeable, there was more to do on this Immortals-be-damned island than find entertainment in its dangers.

His decision to step into more forceful combat was met with equally martial opposition, the tall Biqaj’s swing slower than his feet would have been, slower as his mind moved to calculate the motion that felt so out of rhythm with the rest of his movements. The pain meant little, but he felt it, the sting of some other mark adding to his collection of claw scars along his ribs. It was the burning he knew, though, the searing discomfort that had nothing to do with the wet sensation of his own blood and everything to do with the disease these twisted creatures carried for their Mistress,

“No’ this time—
No way—
No walkin’ vegetable’s got th’ best o’ me.
No’ gonna take what’s mine.”

Pash growled in a rhythmic voice through grit teeth, far too close to something dead and rotting and covered in moss for his comfort. At his words, the golden glow of Elithem rose from his body like steam in the rain, his words repeated in Rakahi becoming Words of Empowerment to bring himself strength and focus, a wash of warmth and bravado.

He waited for his opportunity to surge forward, lowering his body and rushing the moss zombie, unarmed shoulder shoving against its breathless, disgusting chest and tangling their legs together with one quick motion, literally moving to forcefully toss the creature over his planted leg and face-first onto the ground. As he did so, he twisted his own body to follow through, driving his dagger downward as he sought to pin the moss zombie to the ground with the weight of his own body and lodge his weapon anywhere in its spine with all the strength advantage he could muster.
Unarmed Move Visual
Yeah, I just busted a rhyme and moved to bust some face. #bardlife

See around 2:30 and onward, when the teacher is down and leaning against the student with his elbow, and then when the whole move is shown and he tosses the student forwards and face to the ground with a twist of his legs. Pash’s movement is a modified version of this, though I’m aware that opens him up for some back-raking. Oh well. Risk accepted. He has a second layer of clothing at least—his vest.

Kura nodded when Teloar explained what he and his troops could do, then shook her head when he asked if there was anything more. "No, that should be fi-" she paused in the middle of a word and thought for a moment. "Anyone have any medical training?" she asked, not just Teloar, but the group as a whole. All things considered, she figured that was an important question to ask.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Her hadn't had much impact on the moss creature, and Phelan wasn't faring as well as she would have liked, but the two were holding their own. The same was less than true of the others, except maybe Tio. Unfortunately, she didn't have time to worry about them immediately with her own opponent barring down on her. She raised her empty hand to block, confident in the quality of her armor to protect against serious damage. The blow never came though, as Teloar came to her aid. "Thank you." she said, noting the effect his blow had. Time to change weapons it seemed, and she slipped her bow back into the quiver with a quick, practiced motion. Before she could draw her axe, however, she heard Tio's cry.

"Oh hell. Move!" she called at her soldier companion. She didn't have the opportunity to see where Teloar himself went, but she dove out the way of the firebomb, directly towards Kali'rial and Qit'ria. A casual observer would probably call her move a mistake, but she pulled into a roll when she landed, and when she came to her feet she had her axe in hand. Limb removal would fair far better than arrows, it seemed. "Speck, flunny!" she called as she made to attack the mosster that struggling with Sarkis.

The owl pulled into an immediate dive, talons coming out with a cry as she took aim at the flying rabbit. The owl was a familiar, so Kura sincerely hoped she was as immune to disease and as unkillable as Phelan and Sarkis were. Speaking of Sarkis, Kura needed to avoid hitting the wolf, so she circled behind his mosster before she brought down the axe, aiming to remove an arm from behind, though she aimed closer to the back than the empty air to the side of the beast.

[Immortals' Tongue] In this place of wrath and tears

40th Vhalar, 717

As the javelins sharp point pierced through her yak-fur cloak, Kali'rial let out a cry of surprise and pain at the unexpected friendly fire, her second shot failing as her arm dropped and she was bodily forced forward by the weapon hitting her shoulder. Growling in frustration, she didn't have time to react to the injury as the flunny launched itself at her in its unharmed state. Grabbing the gnashing vile creature by its ear with her free hand, the Sev'ryn threw it hard at the ground, away from her with a hiss of pain as a tiny sharp claw slashed her chest.

That was going to be a problem.

"Damn it!" She snapped as the other Sevir jumped in front of her to protect the brunette from the rabid flying rabbit. Whilst Kali appreciated the help, she was also not ready to have another person die on her watch. Not again. Especially not a friend and fellow Sev'ryn. From the corner of her eye the brunette could see Pash was glowing, and could only hope he was faring okay as Tio shouted for Kura and Teloar to watch out. The huntress drew her knife with her uninjured hand and readied herself to stab the flunny if Qit'ria managed to miss it with her sword.

Immortal's please don't let Tio burn them all to death.

Meanwhile across the way Sarkis snarled and yelped as the mosster gouged into his furred side, shaking his head violently to tear out the creatures throat and then snapping at the torso. He was locked in its grip, unable to pull away from its front. Kicking with his back feet, the large wolf tried to tear at the arrow in mossters stomach with his feet to make the injury bigger. He saw Kura, and her axe, and in silent wolfy prayer hoped that she hit the mosster and not himself. The canine might be unkillable but it would still hurt!

In the fell clutch of circumstance,
I have not winced, nor cried aloud.......
Combat, friendly fire, blood and fear. Moss-covered zombies and apparently undead creatures attacked. At this point, the group were in dire straights and for all that they had come back (some of them) with a different attitude, with revenge in their souls, righteous anger in others ~ were they any more prepared?

Perhaps. Some of them, perhaps.

But then, so was what waited for them and it had the home ground advantage.
Qit'ria
When Treloar had spoken to her, Qit'ria had not responded, not answered. He frowned a deep frown at that and, for those who watched, he shook his head. Before now, Qit'ria had been a strange creature who did not seem to work with the group. But at that? Something changed for the Element who was guarding them. Probably not good for Qit.

I work alone because I have to unlocked. NPC reaction adjusted. Qit'ria will now receive hostile reactions from the NPCs. This will impact those who associate with her, also.
Kura
Kura was clear, she was precise and she asked an important question. There was something almost prophetic about it as she asked just before they got attacked but, once they had, the mortalborn of Karem kept her wits about her. Of all of them, she remained almost calm. It helped the others, that calm.

Natural leader unlocked.
Possibly the most important question of all! SECRET OBJECTIVE unlocked!
Tio
Tio had planned and he was meticulous in his planning. He had not rushed in, not charged but had, instead, made sure that he was Thinking Sensibly! Or, at least, thinking. He prepared for what he was doing and then, he did it!

Kali'rial
Kali'rial kept her eyes on the others. She watched Qit, she noted Pash and she heard Tio shouting a warning. It was important to Kali'rial that she was acting efficiently, her and her wolf. The pain in her shoulder was such that her bow would not be possible for her, but the plucky huntress used the technique known by parents up and down Idalos. She grabbed the ear.

Pash
It was the determination Pash felt not to let this accursed island get the better of him which meant that he grit his teeth, felt the disease or poison or general badness through him, and then he did something about it!

Grim determination unlocked.
Well, you don't see that every trial! SECRET OBJECTIVE unlocked!
All....
Having hurt Kali'rial, Qit'ria decided that the best thing she could do was to leap in front of Kali'rial and so the guilt-ridden huntress ran forward to protect her brethren! She did so by rushing forward and holding out her sword.

Kali'rial might be pleased to note, or probably not, that Qit'ria was as good with a sword as she was with a javelin. However, even if that was enough to set fear into the hearts of the two Sev'ryn, they probably both breathed a sigh of relief that they weren't the unwitting recipients of Tio's help. Or, perhaps it was Tio's "help" - depending on one's point of view.

Kura was on the receiving end of that 'help' and, it had to be said, she had the foresight to make sure that she called out her own warning to Treloar. And then, the mortalborn moved. She flung herself towards Qit and Kali, and found herself there in front of the creature attacking Sarkis!

Meanwhile, Pash, pushed his advantage and put everything he had into it. He put all of his strength behind his blows and Pash worked to ensure that at least one moss-monster was mossifully splatted. So, all of that happened in a moment. Qit'ria sliced down at the Flunny From Hell which Kali'rial had flung by the floppy-flying-Flunny ear and, by a combination of luck and also of thinking and moving tactically, the two Sev'ryn got to see the probably quite gratifying sight of the Flunny literally being sliced in half by Qit'ria's sword. However, when that happened, it was Kali'rial who noticed first that the ear didn't stop twitching and then they both saw that death really didn't seem to stop this creature. It fell into two halves, innards oozing out and yet still, it tried to move.

I'll bite yer ankles secret achievement unlocked. Qit'ria and Kali'rial will be rewarded at the end of the thread!

As the Flunny fell apart, Speck dive-bombed. There was nothing for the Owl to do by the time that he got there, but he gave a hoot and turned to look for another target.

Close, but no cigar! secret achievement unlocked. Kura will be rewarded at the end of the thread!

Kura, meanwhile, avoided Tio's firebomb and dived over to the creature which was attacking Sarkis. She, too, took her time and made clever, useful and tactical decisions. Sarkis was holding his own, but he was hurt and getting more so. The moss-monster who was attacking the Velduris wolf was, certainly, winning, but Sarkis was giving as good as he could and was holding his own. When Kura sliced the arm, it fell off and the moss-monster turned. The speed at which it did that was so fast as to be beyond anything a mortal would normally manage. The spare arm, the one still attached, swung around and was heading straight to Kura's head. She had very little time to get away from it and if she did, by nature she'd be likely to be off balance.

Pash flung himself forward and put all of himself into the move. It worked, there was no doubting it. He even succeeded, after a fashion. He was entirely successful in pinning the moss-monster to the ground with his weight, in jamming the dagger into it. However, he was not yet strong enough, even with his blessing activated, to keep it there without him being on top of it. So, he felt claws rake down his back, ripping skin and sinew and he, like Kura, was faced with a choice. Did he keep it there and hope that one of his companions chopped or sliced off the offending arms or even, perhaps, a head? If he did, his back would be taking a lot of damage - he ran the risk of being ripped to shreds. If he didn't? Well, if he didn't then it wouldn't be pinned.

Heroic! secret achievement unlocked. Pash will be rewarded at the end of the thread!
Critical Decision
Pash is facing a critical decision. OOC it is important to note that this is a high risk moment and Pash's actions here could have serious and long term consequences. Choose wisely!
And then, there was Tio. Tio and his Fire Bomb Of Doom.

He threw the firebomb and Kura dived one way, Treloar the other. That meant that Treloar didn't get to help this action, but the warning by both Tio and Kura meant that neither of them were injured. Tio's firebomb was, in some definitions of the word, a massive success as it hit and fire exploded. Literally. It seemed that the creatures were indeed flammable and they got to hear the screeching death cries of the creature. It flailed and flung itself at Phelan and his opponent. Phelan was able to get out of the way with little more than some singed fur, but that meant that the mossy-covered-undead-wolf-dog-thing was also on fire and went up like an Ivorian Candle.

They left behind spots of fire, catching in the grass as, in this trill, two of the moss-monsters started to combust.

A lot.

How'd you make a moss-monster go woof?! secret achievement unlocked. Tio will be "rewarded" at the end of the thread!

Objectives:
1.Don't die

2. Keep each other alive!

3. Avoid friendly fire!: this takes on a whole new meaning. There are patches of fire and two very large balls of flame howling and thrashing around. They will head in a random direction next round (determined by a dice roll). You have very little time before the fire becomes unmanageable. You need to act!

A whole hell of a lot was happening at once. But to Qit'ria there was only one thing, and that was the flunny of mossy, vicious doom. And it had managed to find its way right beneath her blade. As it cleaved through the small creature, shlicking satisfyingly to the Sev'ryn huntress. She saw the two halves fall to the ground, and she snarled loudly in triumph.

But that snarl was quickly replaced by a yelping shriek as the firebomb went off nearby. Qit shirked backward, now hissing, an arm up over her eyes, as she watched a couple of the moss creatures quickly, very quickly in fact, go up in flame. And somehow the woman that talked a lot, Karrydale or something like that, was there with them. And the creature that had been attack Sarkis was now striking out at Karrydale. Qit stepped forward to help, sword raised, when she stepped on the back half of the halved flunny. It squelched loudly, and she slipped just enough to momentarily lose her balance, when she felt a kicking beneath her bare foot, and small scratched biting the weathered sole.

Hissing in pain, she stepped back, and seeing a spot of fire nearby she kicked the back half of the flunny toward a nearby gout watching it kick the whole way. Cutting it in half didn't kill it, merely slowed it down. Yet fire seemed to make them die completely. And rapidly. Which meant that the flunny wasn't dead. At least the top half of it. Qit stabbed down at the top half, with the moving ear, with her sword. She then picked up the halved flunny, and quickly moved closer to the nearest gout and with flick of the wrist, dropped the rest of the hare into the flame.

Eyes looking up, she saw Pash atop one of them. Pash was Kali's tentmate, and by extension he was brethren. And he talked funny, and that made Qit smile when she heard it. Qit dashed over to the wrestling pair, and was about to swing downward, to cleave the hands from the beast when she remembered the javelin in Kali's shoulder. She hesitated. She didn't want to injure him like she had his mate. Changing grips, she held her sword over them, pointed downward, waiting, watching for an obvious opening. And when she found one, she'd thrust downward, in hopes of pinning the creature into the ground.
