Pigglies part 2

Luvi followed after the fleeing avriel and soon passed him on the way to the camp. She rushed right at the avriel who’d stayed behind to protect their things. They hardly had time to react before she was upon them, gripping their head between her hands as she placed a rune of slow onto them. Luvi then pushed him to the ground and took a deep breath. She’d never tried to do that before – she had no idea what the effects of slowing one’s head would do. Would it cause them to become mentally slow? Would it only limit muscle movement?

She kept an eye on them as she rifled through the various bags in the small campsite. She trusted Goku to handle the one in the sky, but if they landed she was sure she could deal with them too. She continued her search until she came across a bag that was set apart from the rest. It contained some coins and… a well.

“At least this was all worth it,” she said as she wrapped the well in some blankets and carried it beneath her arm. The avriel had hardly moved, proving that the rune of slow was indeed powerful when put on the head.

“I can’t believe that I’ve turned into a thief. Then again, I can’t believe they were stupid enough to give me an excuse to sink this low. For trying to kill us, this is the least they could give us,” she told herself.

She looked to her side as the final avriel landed in the camp. She recognized him as the leader. “Give that back,” he said shakily. His feathers looked ruffled and his clothes were torn in a couple places.

Luvi sighed and ran at him. He fumbled with his bow and couldn’t get a shot off before she had her hand on his forehead. She placed a rune of night on him, causing his vision to fade to blackness.

“I’ll let you two live since you’re no threat to us in this state. I don’t know what you are, hunters, bandits? You’re probably deserving of some sort of prison sentence, so I’ll act as your judge. I sentence you to a night of blindness and this well serves as restitution for the injuries you’ve caused us.”

With that, Luvi would go take a bite of leftover pork and wait for Goku. She would tell him that she found the well, and that they should probably go back to their own camp and get some sleep.

Goku landed roughly and hurriedly, his eyes quickly taking in the scene before him. The avriel had already been taken care of. One lay on the ground, moving sluggishly, clearly affected by one of Luvi's runes, while the leader stood nearby, blind and disoriented.

"You handled it well," Goku said, a hint of relief in his voice. He saw the lump wrapped in blankets under Luvi's arm and gave a nod of approval. "I'm glad we found a non-lethal solution for the last two. They won't be causing us any more trouble tonight."

He glanced around the small campsite, making sure there were no other threats. "We need rest," he agreed, feeling the exhaustion from the night's events beginning to weigh on him. "Let's head back to our camp. We've earned a good night's sleep." He grabbed some leftover pork to eat while he walked.

"You think this is over? You think you can just walk away after this? I'll kill you both. Mark my words, I'll find you and make you pay."

Goku turned to face the blind avriel. "Good luck with that," he said, crossing his arms. "Hard to kill what you can't see."

The avriel's face contorted with rage. "This blindness is temporary. When it wears off, you'll regret ever crossing us. I will gather more avriel and we will hunt you down!"

Goku knew he ought to worry but for now the avriel was harmless. He continued through the forest, the tension of the night slowly fading as they headed back to the safety of their own camp.

Note: I will be honest. When your pcs managed to intimidate/persuade the avriel to stand down for some strength runes, I was worried I'd have to call you on improper npc behavior. But then the day was saved when the avriel turned that buff on you in an ambush as they followed you. That was a thrilling scenario, lots of ups and downs, even for me as I wondered whether you'd overplayed your socialization/intimidation. But nope, you're good.

I will say Goku's flying tackle of the avriel was a bit over the top for someone with novice unarmed, athletics, and flying skills. I'd raise those skills if you wanna be a luchador style fighter. It was borderline overplay, but the avriels combat and athletics skill is only a little higher than your own. So chalk it up to luck.
