"What if I fall?"
Oh but darling
What if you fly?
Oh but darling
What if you fly?

- It was a sudden change, just like the swarm that descended upon the group quickly, nipping the majority. Navyri, who had been focused on the way her feathered friend moved and the orbs that circled, realized that her perspective was suddenly altered and she was moving very quickly towards the little tree, the change in eyesight making her squawk frantically as she barely managed to avoid a tree trunk and went spiralling into some branches. Pain radiated up her arms… no… she looked and saw that she had no arms at all, but wings. She felt lighter, almost mockingly so and scrambled to get her footing on a gnarled twig.
Just below, a beautiful woman with wings screamed and twisted, throwing her arms about wildly. In that moment, a terrible realization settled in and she tried to fly towards the figure, not nearly as fast or as graceful as Curio had been. As she drew closer, so did a man.
He held up his hands trying to soothe her old body, and poor Curio trapped inside it. The poor spirit must have been terribly afraid and Navyri felt a sudden wave of emotion. This place… the miasma… always upset her when it came to her companions.
Navyri, who had previously been invisible as Curio exploded into sight, diving rapidly towards her body. As a lovely barred owl with white plumage, she made a shrill sound of warning as she landed on Curio’s shoulder and gripped at their mental teether with extreme focus. Years of experience with each other had given her an expertise and she sent soothing waves through their bond, trying to balance and rub against her old face.
Calm down. Easy. Shhh… Shhh… Navyri continued to press her new plumage against the woman's face, finding it almost strange to watch herself from the outside. Wow… Was she always so stunning?
Slowly, Curio began to calm, the her arms no longer swinging and each time she tried to turn her head too far, the trapped Naerikk sent a sharp peck into the woman's shoulder. 'No.’
Any lingering bugs received a sharp snap at, with Navyri trying to catch them in her beak, the enhanced vision and neck flexibility helping in that regard. Finally, when her original body no longer threatened to accidentally hurt itself, she turned her head, peering at Tio with dark, depthless eyes. So unlike the bright ones her original illusion held.
“What?”
The sound instead came out as a trill, and Navyri remembered she could not speak. A wave of frustration filled her until she saw the orb the man had captured. Her feathers ruffled from the excitement and she leapt from Curio's shoulder and flew to the man's. She gave a trill again, and lifted a foot, extending it downward. She tried to shimmy down his arm, careful not to dig her talons into his skin… unless he deserved it. She needed to know… was it hers?
