Details:The Bluebird Bush is a strange sight. It originated in the Scaltoth Jungle and, for many arcs, it grew only there. However, in recent arcs the Order of the Adunih has taken to growing it in Scalvoris Town and there is a healer in Egilrun who also grows it. The Order of the Adunih usually sell those fronds they do not require, so availability is very limited.

It is a bush with four parts:
Orange Frond: The orange frond of the bluebird bush is orange one side, off-white the other. It is a most bizarre plant as the orange side can be placed on a wound and acts as a very effective coagulant, slowing down bleeding and increasing clotting. However, scraping the white side will create a chalk-like substance which acts as an anti-coagulant if breathed in or ingested.

Green Frond: The green frond is a foul smelling thing which seems to keep insects away from the bluebird bush. If ingested, the individual will lose their sense of smell and taste for roughly three trials. However, if soaked in alcohol for at least twelve breaks, ingesting it will give a boost to the olfactory senses.

Blue Frond: The blue frond is the smallest frond. In its raw form it is a potent toxin which produces nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and renders the individual incapacitated. If it is dried and ground, however, it is a powerful anti-toxin which works against a number of known poisons.

Bluebird: The "bluebird" is the small, hard heart of the plant. There is one per bush and the entire thing nestles comfortably into the palm of a human hand. The hard outer shell must be opened, which requires a lot of work and careful handling, then the heart of that is revealed. This is a small, soft, purple seed which, if eaten will bring about synesthesia for approximately five breaks. It is non addictive and has no known side effects, which makes it very sought after. It is used by healers as, after a careful preparation (expert medicine) it can be used to bring about a temporary calmness and lucidity to even the most confused or hysterical of patients.

Corpseflower

This flower is uncommon in Scalvoris.
It requires expert gardening to grow your own. Oh, and a grave if you want the weird effects.

Price: Tier 5 for a normal plant. The corpseflowers from graves are not sold.

Details:Corpseflowers are seen throughout Scalvoris, all over the island. In their "usual" form they are not anything special, just unusual plants which are hard to grow (expert gardening). However, if grown on a grave then the plant takes on some quite unique aspects and these are known as "true" corpseflowers. If ingested, a true corpseflower puts the individual into a deep hallucination / trance which lasts for up to ten breaks. During that time, the individual is largely incoherent but, upon the plant wearing off they report that they were able to see ghosts and spirits of those who have not passed over. They claim that they have been able to speak to them and whilst some of these stories are wild and highly unlikely, others have been uncannily accurate.

Purple Peach

This plant is very rare in Scalvoris.

It requires expert gardening to grow. Found on Ishallr in Ashan 717

Details: A pretty and sweet smelling blossom, the scent of the Purple Peach is what gives it its name ~ each bloom smells like a fresh, ripe peach. The tiny string-like 'leaves' of this plant are what make it noteworthy, however.

How To Use: The string-like leaves can be used to reduce temperatures and can be given safely to children as young as 3 arcs. Infused in a warm tea with honey to sweeten, for example, these will alleviate the symptoms of a common cold and will help the individual feel better, lessen congestion and hold a fever at bay. They can be added to food or drinks and can even be simply chewed.

Orange Onyx

This plant is very rare in Scalvoris.

Details: A small herb-like flower, nestled amidst plain green leaves, the orange flower of the Orange Onyx is so named because it is more valuable than onyx should one need it. Once it is established, this is a quick growing plant which flowers all arc around.

How To Use: Drinking tea made from this plant acts as a contraceptive. Four flowers infused in a tea will prevent pregnancy for one 28-trial cycle. It is a preventative method only and does not have any impact, either positive or negative, on an already pregnant woman.

Glass Icecap

Found: Scalvoris (Icecaves of Ishallr)

Toxicity/Hazard: Hallucinogenic

Appearance: A squat mushroom, growing approximately five inches tall with a wide cap and discovered in the Ice Caves. These unusual fungi are given their name for their completely transparent and fragile build. Hallucinogenic by nature, it is recommended to avoid eating these surprisingly beautiful mushrooms unless you're looking to spend the next three breaks seeing things that aren't there.

Properties: Hallucinogenic, also gives a feeling of mild paranoia. Over use can cause lasting paranoia and sores under the tongue. Chewing or swallowing whole can release the hallucinogens too rapidly, risking the user experiencing sensory overload. This can cause panic or distress, and terrifying visual hallucinations. Over dosing causes all of the above and risks include brain injury and/or death.

How To Use: Break into fingernail sized pieces and melt under the tongue. Do not chew or swallow whole. Do not eat more than the suggested dosage in less than a three break window.

Morning Saviour

Toxicity/Hazard: None

Appearance: A low growing ground cover bush with small green spear shaped leaves, the Morning Saviour is aptly named for the nausea fighting properties of the small black berries that it grows. These little beads of wonder not only add a rich chocolatey flavour to any dish they are cooked into, but when eaten raw they are a well known and loved cure for a queasy belly. Particularly handy for the morning after a heavy night of drinking, or to assist during pregnancy sickness.

Properties: Anti-nausea abilities when swallowed raw. Tastes chocolatey when cooked.

How To Use: As a medication: Take two whole raw berries orally with a cup of water. Repeat every four to six breaks as required. Do not exceed four doses in a whole trial.

As an ingredient: Add to dishes in the same way you would use blueberries. Must be heated for chocolate taste to occur.

Toxicity/Hazard: Astringent.

Appearance: Some say that Winters Breath gets it's name as it can only be grown in snowy areas, and will melt when in contact with heat. Neither of these is accurate, in fact the plant fairs quite well in most climates and is more of a succulent than a herb, and is more likely named for the white snow-like appearance of its skin. A natural antiseptic, the plant is a handy addition to any healer's inventory.

How To Use: Can be broken, mashed or cut open, and the clear thick gel-like interior mixed at a ratio of 2:1 with water to be wiped or dabbed onto the affected area. If not diluted the gel can, over a period of breaks, lightly burn the skin.

Side Effects: Can burn the skin if applied without dilution.

Faldrun's Bloom

Found: Scalvoris (Underground Caves)

Toxicity/Hazard: none.

Appearance: A thick blood red moss sometimes likened to lava flowing across the rocks it inhabits, Faldrun's Bloom is a rare, powerful and highly sought after anti-toxin. To the current knowledge on the moss, there is not yet a toxin it cannot cure. Extreme care must be taken when harvesting as the moss is very easy to kill and must be used as soon as its collected. Within trills of removing from it's place of growth, the moss starts to wither and dry out. It does not work as a dried plant matter.

Bug Berries

Found: Scalvoris

Toxicity/Hazard: Mild cannabinoid if ingested or smoked.

Appearance: A small cluster of bright green berries approximately an inch in length and growing off small weedy plants approximately a foot high, these earthy smelling fruits are a fantastic insect repellent if crushed and the juices applied to the skin, and thusly named Bug Berries. A little known side effect, if eaten or dried and smoked, the berries will give users a mild 'high' that last for about half a break.

Properties: Natural bug repellent. Mild cannabinoid.

How To Use: Crush berries to release juice, spread over skin liberally. Some alchemists have moved to refine as a low boiled tincture that can be bottled and carried in a travel pack.

Side Effects: Mild 'high' effect when ingested or smoked.

Toxicity/Hazard: Highly toxic

Appearance: A beautiful spiky red plant which looks really inviting and appealing. It's one of those plants that you look at and want to touch to see if it's as soft and lovely as it looks, if it smells as good as it looks, etc.

Properties: Highly toxic. Has a similar effect to strychnine, starting with a locked jaw, then moving to convulsions within a half-break and the tensing of muscles to the point that the back arches to the point that breathing is hampered and / or the bones snap. Death is within two breaks maximum and is inordinately painful.

Rarity: Found only in the Scaltoth Jungle

How To Use: The leaves should be dried completely, then soaked in water for a full trial before being dried again. Then, once they are crushed they are deadly whether ingested, smoked or inhaled.

Side Effects: None other than above.
