Some of our resources will have notes on the write up, looking like this one, and they'll say "There are secrets to discover about this!". There are two ways to find out those secrets:
1. Either PM me before you use / discover the resource - let me know what you're doing. I'm always open to you telling me what you'd like the secret to be - or I'll tell you what I had in mind.
2. PM me / post in the Scalv OOC after you've used / discovered the resource - and I'll drop you a modnote in there!
Thanks!
Appearance: The dish is meant to appear as though the Chrythiam fish is a massive sea monster which has slaughtered a shark or other such massive threat and is swimming in a sea running red with blood.
Taste: Surprisingly delicate, the fish is very much enhanced by the slight paprika taste. The broth has a deep and rich flavour which compliments the light fish beautifully.
Price: High
Availability: Rare: need to be expert cook or above to cook it at all. Master to do so well.
Any other details:A sought after dish which sometimes has some truly gruesome plating up.
Details: To harvest Roipo Nectar, one would have to fight their way through a nest of angry, territorial, probably venomous reptiles in a dark cave deep in the wilderness of Scalvoris - as such, it's difficult to obtain and rare to find. Roipo is a stimulant, commonly used in the world of sports before training sessions to boost performance, but can also be used as a medicine for weak children to assist with early age development. Small amounts of this nectar also adds a wonderful taste to a wide variety of sweet dishes.
How To Use: Added to a confection or sweet dish and when prepared by someone of Master level or above in cooking / baking, this nectar adds a feel-good rush following ingestion.
Side Effects: Roipo nectar, when used in the creation of foodstuffs allows the person who eats it to have a real rush of energy. This makes it useful as an "energy boost" in all sorts of situations.
Main Ingredient(s): Whale meat, seasonal vegetables, spices.
Appearance: Usually served in a style appropriate to the establishment, the whale meat platter is meant to show off the variety of cooking methods used to prepare the meat. Traditionally, there is roasted, grilled, fried and ceviche. Some, more expensive restaurants serve spiced, slow roast or comfit also, but each establishment will have their own methods of both serving and cooking.
Taste: A rich and filling dish, the whale meat takes on a different flavour and tones with each method of cooking. The better the chef, the more this dish can be a real feature to an establishment. A cheap cut of meat taken to the highest standards can demand enormous prices, whereas in a middle of the road restaurant, this is a fairly common dish.
Price: Ranged from Low - Extremely High, depending on the variety / techniques and chef skill.
Availability: Common ingredients. Depends on availability of the chef.
Any other details: Whilst a filling dish, most places refrain from serving salted whale meat as, at certain times of the arc it might well be all a family eats and if they've made it out to a restaurant, they might kill the waiter for feeding it to them again..
Price: 5sn x fruit on the open market. Availability, common.
Details: The fruit of the Snekvine plant, this fruit is usually about a foot in length. It varies in shade from very light, translucent green to a dark green. Any of these is fine, but the slightest amount of purple in the fruit indicates that it has been gathered incorrectly and is, therefore, inedible.
How To Use: The juice is refreshing and not too sweet. When used raw the fruit adds a nice, slightly tart flavour. Those with sufficient skill have been able to make confections, jams and so on from this fruit which are delectable, but its high liquid content means that it requires very careful handling (baking at expert or above)
Side Effects: A well balanced energy source. Snekfruit, when ingested regularly, aids digestion and is good for the skin.
Price: 15gn x leaf (30x the cost of the leaf for the poison due to the fact that correctly removing the flower from the sweetwine vine plant requires at least master level gardening.
Details: The Sweetwine Vine has two main properties which make it of interest as an ingredient. If properly collected, the leaf of the plant can absorb flavour from liquid and transfer it to other foodstuffs. So, one leaf could be soaked in a very good red wine, for example and then very small amounts of the leaf will add that flavour to whatever it is added to. This requires expert level cooking so, whilst very rare is still known to exist. One leaf is able to be used for up to five servings and can be dried whilst maintaining full flavour.
There is a legend about the Sweetwine Vine that, if it is properly gathered and then cultivated, water collected in the Sweetwine Vine takes on a flavour which is unique to the individual ~ and is their perfect, favourite flavour. To be able to harness this, the individual needs master level cooking in order to prepare the vine. It is also a once-only deal and lasts only for one "cup" of water.
How To Use: The soaking of the leaf must be done for at least 1 full trial. How to harness the "Sweetwine Water", as legends call it is, as yet, unknown
Side Effects: The taste from the leaf being soaked has no side effects. Side effects from the alleged "Sweetwine Water" are, as yet, unknown.
Status: Legal - rare in raw form (though obtainable) and very expensive. Meals cooked with this can easily double the price.

There are secrets to be discovered about this ingredient!
Price: 5sn x cocolime on the open market. Availability, common.
Details: Grown in the warmer areas of Scalvoris, from Scalvoris Town to the Scaltoth Jungles and the land in between them, the Cocolime Tree is a common sight. Whilst looking like a mix between a coconut and a lime, these have a distinct and tart flavour. They compliment fish dishes perfectly, adding a depth of flavour which is unique.
How To Use: The juice of the "lime" section is refreshing and not too sweet. When used raw the fruit adds a nice, tart flavour. The white "coconut" section has the same taste but with a firmer texture and is suitable for adding to savoury or sweet dishes in slices, chunks or shavings. Those with sufficient skill have been able to make confections, jams and so on from this fruit which are delectable, but its strange texture differences within it mean that it requires very careful handling (baking at expert or above)
Details: A large fruit, roughly the same size and shape as a watermelon, but that is where the similarity ends. The sunburst fruit is made up of a solid central "sunsphere", from which sprout "sunfingers", ending in "suntips".
The unique thing about this fruit is that each of the sections of it have a completely different taste and texture from each other.
The Sunsphere: The middle of this fruit, the sunsphere is a solid ball of white flesh. It has the consistency / texture of a potatoe but when eaten melts in the mouth into a soft honey which is utterly delicious. Eating this 'sunsphere' provides an energy boost. This can be eaten raw but if it is used in cooking it requires a skill of at least expert in order to manage its flavour and textures correctly.
The Sunfingers: Long orange-red 'fingers', each one has the sort of crunchy texture of an apple ~ the taste is a mild and pleasant one, slightly reminiscent of sweet rice pudding. As one eats this, the main sensation is one of slight warmth. This can be eaten raw but if it is used in cooking it requires a skill of at least expert in order to manage its flavour and textures correctly.
The Suntips: The green suntips are groups of tiny berries bursting out from the sunfingers. Each one of these has a sharp and almost sour flavour, yet with an undertone of sweetness which makes it a pleasant taste sensation. This can be eaten raw but if it is used in cooking it requires a skill of at least expert in order to manage its flavour and textures correctly.
The Sunburst: The real skill for the use of the sunburst is to put together the three aspects of it correctly. If this is done properly (requires either cooking or baking, depending on what you are doing) then it takes someone with expert level skill or above to get the most out of it when the fruit is combined raw. When well balanced, these three provide a wonderful and very tasty dish.
However, should the chef/baker should manage to perfectly balance the three elements (requires master level skill minimum) then the sensation for the eater is an amazing gastronomic one. The 'sunburst' feels like an explosion in the mouth of warmth which tastes literally divine. Be this in a baked dessert, a preserve or as an accompaniment to fish or white meat, this is a taste experience like no other.
How To Use: Anyone can simply pick up and eat the sunburst fruit.
To cook any of the individual parts requires expert level skill (cooking or baking, depending on what you're making) ~ likely to increase the cost of a dish prepared with this x 1.5
To successfully combine the individual parts raw requires expert level skill (cooking) ~ likely to increase the cost of a dish prepared with this x 2
To successfully combine the individual parts cooked requires master level skill (cooking or baking, depending on what you're making) ~ likely to increase the cost of a dish prepared with this x 4+
Found: These grow on the side of trees ~ they tend to be towards the bottom of the tree and like it in the dark.
Toxicity/Hazard: None
Appearance: Each of these is a small, yellow "trumpet" which grows in such a way as to look like they are growing in steps up the tree.
Properties: Can be eaten raw and when they are they have a very pleasant lemon flavour. When cooked, they maintain the lemon flavour but it tends to be combined with whatever they are cooked with so are often used in dishes such as lemon chicken, for example.
Type of Alcohol: Vodka Appearance: This drink is made by taking vodka with mint leaves seeping in it, and mixing it with a dash of cocoa. As such it comes in varying shades of brown, or clear with a slight darkness to it if dirt is mixed in. It got it's name from the fact that bars that can’t afford or don’t have cocoa are rumored to just take some dirt and stir it in. No one really notices as most are too drunk at that point to care. Taste: Tastes very strongly of straight vodka, with a slight mint aftertaste. Sometimes there’s a chocolate flavor that varies in strength, but if you have a really gritty flavor to your shot, then you can count on there being dirt stirred into the shot, which is why it’s usually so cheap to get. Price: Per shot: 3sn a shot, less if dirt is used rather than cocoa Alcohol Potency: Fairly potent, as the shot is almost entirely vodka. Take too many of these and you’ll be blackout drunk
