Aidọgba eairo
Image
Developed by Ti'niva

Aidọgba eairo information

Appearance: The Aidọgba eairo are a species of large black cat that look very much like a panther. The greatest difference between the Aidọgba eairo and a panther are the large wings that protrude from its back. These wings are made up of dark skin that is stretched over a thin and relatively strong bones. The rest of the creature is that of a panther a large black cat with vicious claws and fangs. It is rare and uncommon, however, they may sometimes appear fully white.
Height: 80-90 cm male. 60-80 cm female (at the shoulder).
Width: 30-40 cm male. 20-30 cm female (shoulder to shoulder).
Length: 160-170 cm male. 140-160 cm female (nose to end of tail).
Weight: 90-110 kg male. 70-80 kg female.
Wing Span: 210-260 cm male. 190-230 cm female.

Price: This species is rather rare and therefore any useful part of the creature can be sold for a higher price than that from many other creatures. The useful items and their prices from the Aidọgba eairo are as Follows:
Fangs, 8 GN per fang
Wing bones, 20 GN x 2 bones
Undamaged wing skin, 25 GN per square foot
Claws, 2 GN per claw
Fur, 20 GN full coat
Habitat: The Aidọgba eairo lives within the Makubwa Lori, however, they spend much of their life in the sky or high in the trees lounging on branches. This is part of the reasons for the rarity of their sightings along with the low population of the solitary creatures that only breed every 8 Arcs.
Loaction and Native location: The Aidọgba eairo are native to the Makubwa Lori, however, due to their ability to fly there have been reported sightings of the Aidọgba eairo on the mainlands of southern most parts of Central Idalos around Athart.
Lifespan and Development: The Aidọgba eairo live for around 60 arcs if not hunted or killed by other causes. The Aidọgba eairo matures after only an Arc upon maturity the creature will split from its mother and leave to live its solitary life.
Diet: The Aidọgba eairo are carnivorous and will eat any creature smaller than itself. Its predominant prey is birds which it catches as it flies through the sky; one of the main aerial predators in the area.
Temperament: The Aidọgba eairo is relatively calm unless approached in which case it may become defensive and violent. There is a legend that speaks of one of these Aidọgba eairo being tamed and used as a mount, but there is no proof of this available just the stories.
Abilities: The The Aidọgba eairo has no particularly impressive abilities besides of course the ability to fly. It also has a great amount of skill on all fours and is a formidable foe when both flying and on the ground. The Aidọgba eairo may also buffet its opponents with its large wings.

Sonipa okun uwär
Image
Developed by Ti'niva

Sonipa okun uwär information

Details: These creatures are native to the Makubwa Lori and have a small population the creatures are solitary and very territorial. They tend to come in shades of green and brown as well as the occasional blue however, this is rare. The creatures have thick skin which is incredibly difficult to pierce and therefore are not commonly hunted. Due to the rarity of their useful parts (teeth, skin, claws and poison) there are no set prices and cost is up to the individual retailer. These creatures are incredibly dangerous and many will keep as far away from them as possible. The only real reasons these creatures would be hunted would be due to them coming too close to the city and threatening its citizens or if somebody required the specific items and could afford to supply hunters to hunt one.
Height: 160-200 cm male. 120-140 cm female (at the head).
Width: 90-160 cm male. 80-100 cm female (shoulder to shoulder).
Length: 300-410 cm male. 300-380 cm female (nose to the base of the tail).
Weight: 2 tonnes and greater male. 1.8 tonnes and greater female.

Lifespan and Development: The Sonipa okun uwär can live up to 140 arcs (approximately). The creature takes 40 arcs to reach full size. At around 20 arcs the creature will have also gained the ability to spit poison and by 30 arcs the creature's claws also excrete poison.
Diet: The Sonipa okun uwär is omnivorous, it will eat plants when necessary but it prefers to eat meat. The creature will attack and hunt nearly all other creatures with few being bigger than it in the forest. Another reason it will hunt anything is its thick skin is difficult to pierce harder than any leather and therefore most creatures fail to pierce this thick outer layer.
Temperament: Aggressive and territorial. The Sonipa okun uwär is very protective of its territory, each Sonipa okun uwär in the forest has their own specific area and many of them will make sure not to invade another's as a battle between two of these creatures is severely dangerous for both participants
Abilities: Poison bite: The bite of the Sonipa okun uwär is incredibly dangerous to anyone who experiences it. The poison that is produced is a neurotoxin which acts quickly to numb the entire area of the bite and spreads from that point, if not treated the Neurotoxin will eventually cause a shutdown of all the nervous system. This complete shutdown can take a few trials it varies based on size but all results if not treated are death.
Poison spit: The creature can spit poison at it prey or attacker and cause blindness if it goes in the eyes. The effects of the poison act differently from when input directly into the bloodstream and will not result in complete nervous system failure.
Poison claws: The effects of this are directly the same as that of the poison bite except there is an 8% chance that the poison will not make its way into the bloodstream.
Weaknesses: Weaker in the cold seasons. The Sonipa okun uwär hibernate during the last 33 trials of Zi'da and throughout Cylus and early Ashan, during this time they can easily be ambushed when hibernating. Heated weapons (meaning they are glowing from the heat) have a higher chance of piercing the thick skin.

Àwọsánmà ìlä

Developed by Developed by Ti'niva
Type of Material: Wood.
Acquired By: Anybody lucky enough to find it or rich enough to buy it.
Rarity: Very Rare.
Details: The Àwọsánmà ìlä is a type of wood only found within the Makubwa Lori. The wood comes from the chieja ọludïbọ tree and is the strongest wood found within Idalos. The wood is incredibly difficult to work with and also incredibly rare. Due to the fact that no Sev'ryn would ever cut down a tree, and it is a punishable offense if done without specific permission and following strict guidelines, the wood is incredibly difficult to come by. The only way to acquire the wood is to wait for some natural event to cause the tree to lose branch or even smaller amount of wood. Wood of this kind no matter how large or small is precious and some would even kill to obtain it. The wood is made even rarer by the rarity of the chieja ọludïbọ trees, some of the hardest trees to find in the forest. This wood is both strong and bendable. When acquired in thick logs it is incredibly difficult to snap or ship some even say impossible. When acquired in thinner branches or sticks and made thinner the wood is extremely bendy, making it difficult to snap but possible. The wood gets gradually bendier the thinner it is made. However, it can be treated with a mix of fire and bees wax in order to make it to the desired bendability. The inside of the wood is a dark black colour sometimes more purplish and sometimes reddish.
Price: 50gn 2 metre length 10cm diameter.
Other Information: This wood has been used to make some of the most expensive and impressive bows in Idalos and few outside of Desnind will ever experience the wood at all. This wood is kept by many who acquire it and few are willing to trade or sell the item. The only times this wood will leave its owners possession is to have it crafted by an extremely skilled wood worker into what they wish it to be. The processed wood has a beautiful colour and can be made to shine as bright as preciousness metals.

The chieja ọludïbọ
Image
Developed by Ti'niva
Found: This tree is found only within the Makubwa Lori and rarely at that. There are no exact locations of this type of tree currently known. If one is found then the finder is very lucky and some may even keep the locations secret.
Toxicity/Hazard: None
Appearance: The older trees are incredibly fat with much of the branches spreading out wide from the trees. They take up a lot of space in the forest and often are shorter than other types of trees within the forest. The leaves are a dark green and elliptic in shaped.
Properties: The wood is extremely rare and a beautiful ebony colour. The wood is treasured by many and is extremely expensive.
Other Information: These trees would most likely be protected by the Sev'ryn if there locations were known.

Mulier Colletis
ImageImage
Developed by Ailluin-Yelven
Found: Anywhere you might find plants really. Forests, sometimes grasslands or open areas by a river or lake.
Toxicity/Hazard: Not directly toxic by touch, but they have a rather high acidity in the bulbous pouch beneath the bodies that can be incredibly harmful to the body and will dissolve through skin in mere minutes.
Appearance: Mulier Colletis are giant flowered plant monsters that have a female humanoid form growing out from between the petals. The form varies and can look sweet and endearing to lure in unwary travelers, or vicious if needed. Despite having a seemingly humanoid form, it is entirely a plant and even if you cut the human form, it would not bleed blood. It is not a sentient creature, despite having a humanoid form it is all plant, and the reactions the human form has is just DNA programmed in order to lure in prey, like a plant that traps a bee or wasp to put pollen on it, or a pitcher plant that lures creatures in with its smell.
Properties: The acid could be bottled and mixed into a drink and if ingested, would start to dissolve the person’s insides. Note that this is an extremely painful process that the minute it touches their tongue would start to cause great pain, as such it is not a useful tactic for assassins unless trying to get information. Also note that it is incredibly difficult to kill the plant to attain the acid, as when not luring in prey, it hides within a bulb that is pretty resilient to most attacks and well, you’re not going to be in good shape if you just run up and whack it with a sword, let’s just leave it at that.
Other Information: A meat-eating plant, they lure in unsuspecting animals or travelers by seeming to be a girl in trouble being devoured by a plant. If you get too close or grab 'her' to help 'her' out, however, you will soon find yourself fighting for your life as 'she' wraps vines around you and tries to (and often succeeds at) pull you into the plant. Beneath 'her' body is basically a pitcher of acid used to digest whatever 'she' manages to pull in, and if you manage to take out one of these plants, you’ll often find a fair amount of useful things like horns and other hardened things not easily digested by the acid, as it was made mostly to digest flesh and muscle and sometimes bone (if they are hollow.)

Ńẹ Sọ Anou Kanna
Image
Developed by Avrae Kyric
The Ńẹ Sọ Anou Kanna- which is Xanthean for Wealth of the Land- is a food market, of sorts. To locals, it's usually called Ńẹ Kanna for short. This is a trader's haven, in truth. Farmers trade her primarily, but so do Herbalists and anyone who has edible wares. Sometimes people even come to trade furs and other spoils from their hunts- things that can be used just as much as the meat could. Others cooked the food they got from the self sustaining lifestyles of the Sev'ryn, and brought it here to sell for extra price, or even just to give out from the kindness of their hearts.

The prices here are all negotiable- based on barter and trade. It starts with its base price, and then goes down if you're good at arguing why it's overpriced, or up if you piss the traders off. This is a fairly simple way of life. In a way, this place is also kind of like a swap meet, because people can come with their items and sell it off to the highest bidder. Whether you're trading items for other items or trading items for coin, this is the place to do it. Though, as mentioned, it's mostly for food and edible things.

The shop is run by a lovely lesbian couple and their two adopted sons. With one of the women being a Sev'ryn, she fits in naturally here. Her partner, however, is a half-Ellune, half-Biqaj, and their son Augustus is Human, while their son Kyle is a Lothar. This shop is known well by locals, and is a very friendly, welcoming environment to all types of people, for the most part. However, don't be fooled by thinking just because it's friendly, it isn't defensive. These are people who hunt, after all. The walls have bows and spears hanging from them as decoration- but the shop keepers know how to use them, and they don't like thieves.

Title: Shopkeeper
Skills:
Business Management (55)
Negotiation (35)
Ranged Combat (10)
Details: Dream Ever. That's what Ma'aikata's full name means, and it very much fits her personality. An impressionable woman, she was born and raised in Desnind, and she noticed the fact that many of the people made something or acquired something that they sold regularly to make money. With a desire to have a place where people could meet to do this, Maia- as she's often called- saved up her money until she could open this shop- The Ńẹ Sọ Anou Kanna. She ended up marrying woman named Halla, and the two run the shop together with their two adopted sons.

Intimidation (20)
Thrown Weapons (Javelins, 15)
Polearms (Spears, 15)
Negotiation (20)
Details: Halla Vriman is not a native of Desnind, but she has come to love the place because she loves a woman who grew up there. Halla is a quiet woman- not timid, just private. She grew up in the snowy mountains of Viden, and attended the university there to learn some Linguistics. She came to Desnind hoping to learn Xanthea- and instead found love. Marrying Ma'aikata Kikọsilẹ-Vriman, the two opened a trader's hub together and adopted two sons. Halla has found peace in her life, and faith in Moseke, making regular trips to temples for worship. The seven foot, seven inch tall woman can be intimidating, but if you respect her, she'll respect you.

Title: Shopkeeper
Skills:
Hunting (20)
Ranged Combat (20)
Fletching (20)
Seduction (20)
Persuasion (10)
Negotiation (10)
Details: Augustus Vriman is the oldest adopted son of Mai'akata and Halla Vriman. He was adopted not at birth, but as a child, yet he loves them dearly. He was born in Rynmere, originally from Warrick, and his parents died in a bandit attack when he was seven. He was adopted at the age of ten, actually after his younger adopted brother, Kyle, was. So while he may be older, he's been with them for a shorter time. Still, Augustus loves Desnind and his new family. He helps out in the shop often, being a charming young man with good people skills. However, his real love is hunting in the forest. He's pretty skillful with a bow, and is always improving. Don't be surprised to see him jog into the shop with a slayed Icraphern thrown over a shoulder.

Birthday/Age: Ashan 12th, Arc 703, Age 14
Title: Shopkeeper
Skills:
Axes & Bludgeons (30)
Negotiation (20)
Gambling (20)
Appraisal (30)
Details: Kyle is a born again Lothar. His past life- Kyvalkar- had died in Desnind fighting a Aidọgba Eairo, trying to make it into a mount. Mai'akata and Halla Vriman, newly married, found his newborn form in the remains of his slain former self and carried him to safety. It didn't take much for them to want to adopt him, and he's been with them ever since. Shortly after, Kyle was given a brother in the form of Augustus. They're a pretty happy family. Kyle is the go to guy on appraisal in the shop. He has a better eye for value than either of his adopted mothers, so when a debate over an item's value gets too heated, Kyle is usually the tie breaker. He also is fond of gambling, though he isn't terribly good, but he loves to play games of dice with people who come into the shop. When he isn't in the shop, he's usually chopping wood out back (after thanking Moseke for the tree's life), or practicing his axe work in general. Despite his past self having died this way, Kyle's goal in life is to tame an Aidọgba Eairo and make it his mount.

Price List

The prices are what they make it. For reference on base prices, see the price list.
No moderation needed that I know of, unless needed for negotiating prices.

Slang Term: "Biyu tawng"
Meaning: It is translated directly to common as difficult oak. However, the expression is usually used when describing someone who is overly (and usually annoyingly) stubborn.
Origins: The expression was originally used by a tree singer of Desnind, he had worked with the growing of oaks and observed how they could be particularly stubborn and hard to persuade. This was then adopted by the masses of Desnind as an expression pertaining to particularly stubborn people.
Example: "Ti'niva it such a Biyu tawg. He never lets me be the first to shoot."

[Desnind] Development and Requests Thread

done! Added to City tradition index - Bumblebee
Image
Dauv ọludïbọ

Developed by Andáska Venora
Details:

In every society there are those that challenge and break the laws of the land and Desnind, even with the majority of the population being quite peaceful, is no exception. Like any other city, it is subject to murders, theft, arson, etc. This is often because the spirits of young Sev'ryn are more easily pulled towards a darker nature and/or the worshiping of Lisirra. When this happens and the laws are broken, the punishments of the city often suffice – burial, exile, drowning...

There are unfortunate instances where these verdicts are inadequate; In the worst cases of corruption – those truly displaying evil with no remorse and are too dangerous to exile lest they survive the elements and continue to wreak havoc on Idalos, are given a very rare sentence.

The offender, usually a guilty party accused of committing a number of serial, heinous crimes – is given three days with a diet consisting of little other than roots and vegetables, a symbol of purifying their body with the gifts of Moseke to cleanse their body, followed by extensive prayer and meditation by leaders of the Aiserism faith, in hopes of bringing the mind of the guilty to a lighter place.

Unfortunately, even if there was to be signs of redemption in the offender, mercy is unlikely, since trickery is far too possible. At this point, this is Desnind's last ditch effort for spiritual salvation. Once the three days are complete, the individual is usually weaker, and taken outside of the city gates in a representation of exile, however they are not left alone. They are sprinkled with holy water and given a drug that numbs all pain and sensation. Afterwards, they are tied to a post and burned.

Fire is an element hardly used in Desnind due to its destructive properties and the forests surrounding it, but it is used in this ritual as a way to burn away the darkness plaguing them. The ashes are gathered and used as fertilizer for a new tree planted in the Makubwa Lori, to symbolize that the last act that they performed in this world was not to destroy, but to give life in hopes that when they are reborn, their spirits will be stronger and purer for their path.
