Welcome to Cold Cycle 724!


And with the turn to October, it's the Cold Cycle again.

And would you look at that? It's been around 10 years since this site has been founded, all the way back in 2014 when it was being pre-developed.

Most roleplay writing sites don't last a year unless they're lucky. But we've stayed online for ten! Artistic and literary communities that thrive on member contributions and volunteers to keep them going hardly ever have one person to thank for keeping them open and healthy. The same is true of us. Through all the site contributors who come and go and come again, we've managed to keep the lights on through all the changes because of a strong community and one that's always been open to inviting new faces into our ongoing creative process.

So this year we're doing something a little special. We'll be slowly but surely completing much of the older and incomplete lore that has been promised but not delivered on. Over the course of the year or so, we'll be working to finish up the skill list, the magics that had been promised but not released, and the Dragon Effigies for the Ruin's Dawn dragons, among other things. Heck, we've already delivered on Hyludins 🙂

So join us in welcoming in the new year, as we look forward to the next ten years!






The List for our Anniversary Year!

Races: Hyludin, finishing off Ghosts.

Magic: Pact, Schism, and the return of Aberration.

Skills: write ups done. Get Languages sorted. Dreamwalking and Emeas.

Marks: Treid, Valtharn. Finish updating (take out all mentions from the old Devotion system.)

Spiritborn: (This will not look like what was promised in The Call, just as a heads up.)

The Shoppe:(Gathering, Crafting, Resources)

Dragons: The whole rest of the lot.

Effigy: Vielkrontier, Artere (Only needs feedback now as it has been written!).




Usual Cycle Change Stuff

This Cycle is the Cold Cycle 724, including the seasons of Vhalar and Zi'da.

Vhalar

Vhalar is described as the season of harvest, where vegetables, herbs, and other produce are ripe for reaping one last time. During the beginning of this season, the temperature is still fairly hot, even though the second sun has moved away. As the trials progress, the weather cools while the leaves slowly change from thriving green to lively red, yellow, auburn, and purple. The grass wilts and hardly any color is saved by the end of the season except for the pines and other shrubs and trees. Vhalar takes on a chill during its final days before sinking into the cold season of Zi'da.

Vhalar lasts a total of 123 trials (days). It is a festive time for most cities as the temperature mid-season is quite enjoyable.

Zi’da

Zi'da rolls in, bringing with it the cold winds of death. This season was named in honor of the Immortal Daia, after she was struck down at the hands of a human, thus manifesting the war between deities presently. Zi'da is a cool season that only progressively gets colder. Very few flora survive during this time and the trees, barren and lifeless. Animals have settled down to hibernate while the only real noise that disturbs the peaceful silence of Zi'da are the humans that walk about and the Immortals that fight for control. Snow is common during this season, along with freezing rain and blizzards.

Zi'da lasts for a total of 93 trials (days). Though it is considered a cold season, the weather and chill of Zi'da pales in comparison to Cylus.

Etzos is fully ready to be opened and is open. I will be submitting a calendar as soon as both my calendars are finished and written up.

Welcome to Rebirth Cycle 725!


It's Rebirth time, and we're onto 725.

Been a little bit quiet this past cycle as we experience a seasonal lull. New fresh time to fill with stories, so get writing people!

About the tenth anniversary celebration which is ongoing. Where we complete the lore and skill lists and reintroduce magics that were promised but never delivered. There are a few articles up for feedback either on the Creating the World forums, or a few magics and other similar big articles on our secret Peer Reviewer Forum. If developing these things sounds interesting to you, perhaps give some thought (if you've been active for more than a few months on site) to volunteering. We don't have an onerous activity requirement once you're in, just let us know you're alive every week or so with a review or wiki work, whichever interests you!

Anyway, thanks for spending your time in the site, however much of that time you give us we greatly appreciate it! Looking forward to seeing your characters out here and making stories in the world!

New Things!

For Players:
  • Added a new ’[thread-link]’ BBCode. Use this to add a link to a thread, by its title, to a post, e.g. [Saoire's Dream] Tutors, Tutelage and Tentacles ~ Part 1
  • Fixed a bug preventing the XP flavour text from showing when there is no thread associated with the XP transaction.
  • The all new POWERS section!

You can now add/claim/buy your effigies and Marks using XP via the UCP and you XP ledger is automatically managed for you.

For those that already have their effigies done, you may want/need to PSF for a refund of the XP taken for these so that you can re-purchase them via the new system, if you wish.
  • Added the ‘Wait For’ feature to the Subscriptions page!

This allows you to nominate a player by username that the subscriptions list will then track. It will then inform you once that Player has posted, so the you know when it’s your turn to post!
