Always in the Nice Close

The trial had come and the Ardiechy were moving around getting this ready. Name a child wasn’t a small thing in Melrath, but is also appeared to be a big thing here as well. The parents were actually ready for the coming ceremony, each was dressed in their nicest apparel, and had painted their Embla. But they were trying to get the boys ready. The three had been prepared and dressed and placed in their bed while Jasper and Astra finished their other projects. There was a pause as a sound came from one of the boys. The two paused and looked at each other and then Jasper, who was closer, dived for the boy making the noise and picked him up.

To late.

So they cleaned him up and everything else that had been impacted by the explosion, and then returned to finish getting things ready. Jasper paused as he finished his list and looked over at Astra. She was just finishing up and Jasper could tell that his help would be more of an obstacle instead of a help. So he went over to the boys and knelt down by them. He smiled at the boys and was rewarded with two smiles. Jasper jr was snoozing away, and whapped on of his brothers while their father watched. His grin grew eve wider. Three boys had been a surprise, and were a lot of work, but Jasper honestly wouldn’t change them out. There was something about them all being there together. Asmund and Joq’an both waved and grinned at him. With each hand he extended one finger and brought it close to them, moving slowly enough so that they each grab a finger and hold on to it. Asmund instantly brought the finger to his mother and tried to nibble on it, while Joq’an looked surprised that he had caught the finger. He pushed it away and then grabbed it again and repeated the game.

Jasper was so focus on this game with the boys that he didn’t realize Astra was done until she moved towards him, and only then because it was impossible to sneak up on a rupturer. He focused on the boys as Astra came to stand besides him. She put a hand on his arm and watched the little game. Eventually Joq’an grew board of the finger and instead tried to grab Jasper Jr. Jasper himself extracted his very wet finger from Asmund at this point and stood up straight.

“Well. Shall we name them then.” Jasper said, whipping his wet finger on his pants.

“Yes dear.” She said. Jasper carried out the portable bed to the spot where the ceremony would be by the tree, and then together they placed the boys. They worked happily waiting for anyone who wanted to come to come. Even if it was just the family they would do this, and had prepared some traditional Melrathi baked good for afterwards. The Ardiechy realized that they were a family with traditions and ceremonies about their lives, and were fine if no one else wanted to join, but also fine with anyone else joining.

Ding-dong! Ferret calling!

Winston had decided that this was a 'thing' as he held the little night-light chimes aloft the box stuffed with tissue. Chimes for people's birthtrials naming ceremonies, it was going to be what he did... for now. He had enjoyed making the one for Tristan's daughter, Ayla so much, it seemed like a wonderful thing to do and then expand upon each arch as they grew.

This particular chime was made of three identical Rainbow Sand Glass Embersteel Alloy bells and were all the colours of the rainbow. They gave off a slightly smouldering glow and were shaped like wide bells with many little places to attach future chimes to them.

They tinkled gently in the wind, their sound resonating as a result of the blue-sand used to make them and

Also imbued with the warmth of Faldras Sand, the water resistance of oil and the glow of the Shallifa he located while with Kisaik on their Yaralon adventures, the little chime might act as a very soft, fluctuating rainbow night-light as it hung from its chain in all weathers, inside or out.

As Astra or Jasper came into view, the ferret called out in excitement. "'ello!" He waved frantically just in case he was not noticed.

They were both dressed in inexpensive, but smart attire, Winston's being just a little jacket and Angela was carrying the gifts.

The girl did a little curtsy, while still holding the boxes, which she then offered over to whomever was closer. "That one has cake in it... So... Don't shake it." She joked with a friendly smile.

Winston had a look around for anyone else he knew and gave them a good wave as well as they settled in. "Soh es dere anyting we cun 'elp wid? We brought some fud." He said, gesturing towards Chest, whom plodded up beside them and opened to present a selection of breads and other confectionery. The smells that rose from them was spectacular.

A rose by any other name .....

"You are such a little tinker, you are," Vega said, scooping Akor up into her arms. Her daughter was a few months younger than her older brother, Conlan. Said older brother was standing next to Vega and watching with interest as she balanced Akor on her hip. The three of them were standing on the beach and Akor had just started to cry because her shoes had got wet. There was no issue, as far as Vega could see, but Akor had been briefly inconsolable.

So, Vega had kicked off her own shoes and moved out into the sea. As Akor saw the water splashing over Vega's dress and bare toes, the toddler started laughing. "Happy little weirdo," Vega said and kissed her youngest on the forehead. "You comin' in, Qaunobo Rakahi pidgin for small cute person ?" Conlan looked at Vega and then pointed to the ocean. "Wet, Mama. Wet." Vega grinned. "You bet it is. Come on, lets feel U'frek's blessin' washin' our toes," she said and held out her hand.

Conlan took it and the three of them splashed and giggled and laughed. Akor's tantrum had been averted and Vega was pleased that because frankly, a tantrum from one nearly-two-year old while having another toddler in tow was more than she wanted to deal with . They splashed about and there were peals and squeals of laughter. Then, Vega announced."Righteo, you two. Time to go an' celebrate yer names. Say thank you to U'frek for the sea an' to Xuir for the stars," The two children intoned their thanks and then Vega looked at Conlan seriously. "You wanna race, Qaunobo?"

Conlan considered it and then smiled, nodding. "Yes, da’oat Mother. One.... two..... three!" He started running the second three was out of his mouth and Vega ran next to him. Of course, with her much longer legs she could easily beat him, but that wasn't her way. She stayed alongside him, running at a pace which meant that he had to run hard to keep up, but he was more than capable of doing so. That was how Vega did things with the children. She encouraged them, but never to the point where she pushed too hard .

Which meant that, as Vega, Conlan and Akor came to the tree, Vega was carrying Akor and Conlan was walking next to her, holding her hand. Joy, Wren and Ru were already there and Vega smiled around. "Hello all," she said. Neither Conlan or Akor had had their names celebrated this way last arc so Vega had said that she'd like to take part with both of them this arc. That meant that all the children were dressed in their best outfits and Vega wore a nice dress, albeit one that was wet at the bottom. Her feet were bare and, later, she'd have to go and retrieve her forgotten shoes from the beach. She smiled at Jasper and Astra and their children, and to Winston and his friend. "Nice to meet you, I'm Vega. This is Joy, Wren, Ru, Akor an' Conlan. We don't expect you to remember all our names, though," she said to Angela. "We're kind of celebratin' all their names to-trial, because they haven't been in this ceremony before." That was the simple truth of it and so she said it. The children all reacted from Joy waving to Winston and Jasper and everyone she knew to Ru hiding shyly behind Wren. Vega was proud of them all, so that worked for her.

There were three small and pretty pouches at her waist containing gifts for the triplets, but she didn't give them yet. They were traditional gifts for a biqaj born into their clan and Vega was sure there would be a time for them to be given.

Having arrived with such drama, she looked around and gave a slight smile. "So, where'd you want us, an' how can we help?" Speaking to Jasper and Astra she added. "There's some biqaj traditions what I'd like to include for all the children, if that's a'right with you?"

After all, there was a reason that she'd been on the beach.

Comments:I enjoyed the scenes with Jasper and his family. It’s obvious that he cares about them. He gives me the impression of being very gentle.

Winston’s gift is very thoughtful!

I would have loved to read about Jasper, Winston and Vega celebrating the names of their children – those three posts were a very promising start in my opinion – but I realize that sometimes, threads are abandoned.

You still get XP though!
