Approved for 10 order, New resource requires an actual sustainable growth operation ala farming and setting the ground for it, walking the settlers through that whole process. YOu did part of the process in telling them how to harvest it in the wild, but actual planting and cultivating is needed to consider it a primary resource. It counts as a temporary resource to play around with and possibly use for cultivation or brewing if you are so inclined. Please update your settlement profile.

Re: Settlement Progress Requests

Write up for the Clayworks that were approved and paid for here
Rosebay Clayworks
Image
The clayworks sits a short distance outside Rosebay's main defences, close to the lake, and consists of a drying shed, a kiln, and a shelter for the access to the local clay. Four sturdy posts support the tiled roof of the drying shed. There are no walls, the better to allow the wind to blow through and dry the clay before it is fired, but there are open shelves on three sides and a space on the fourth for a person to work on rainy days, or for whoever is tending the kiln to find shelter from the sun. A ladder is kept here to allow the shorter residents easy access to the upper shelves.

Beside the drying shed, the kiln forms a knee-high mound made from earth and reinforced with small rocks. The lower part has been dug into the ground, forming a trench where the fire is lit and maintained, with a narrow channel to allow air to be blown or fanned in. When the fire is lit, the heat and flames rise up through a ceramic grill into the upper half, where the clay items are placed for firing. A sturdy ceramic lid allows the kiln to be opened for use or closed for firing as necessary.

Not far away, a second set of posts supports the tiled roof of the mining shelter. Here, clay has been dug out of the ground, forming a hollow. As it grows deeper, care has been taken to leave steps cut into the ground for the miners to go up and down. On two sides, knee-high walls of rammed earth provide some extra shade and a wind break for those working there. Above the wall, and on the other two sides, the walls are again open to the air.

Re: Settlement Progress Requests

Hello!

Sweetsong Settlement NPC. He wants to retire etc (as per the pirate threads of last season) and we will RP him joining etc, but I figure we'll do that once approved.

He's PB purchase, so I will deduct once approved (or you can deduct for me, very happy)

NPC with 410 skill points, with no less than 10 and no more than 60 skill points in any one skill. Must be approved via the PSF. 400

He's already written up so I'm not doing that here. The write up is here

His write up gives him this: 100 Seafaring, 90 Leadership, 80 Navigation, 60 Blades: Cutlass, 50 Endurance

So - for the 410 skill points, I'd like to have this please.
50 Endurance
60 Blades
60 Navigation
60 Leadership
60 Seafaring
30 Strength
30 Tactics
30 Discipline
30 Detection

Then I add
40 Seafaring (200 PB)
30 Leadership (150 PB)
20 Navigation (100 PB)

This brings him up to his skills as identified in the write up.
Total Cost 850 PB

Thank you so much for looking!

Re: Sweetsong

Thread: PSF Ticket

Intended Changes:See this guide.
    • The player completes an action that would lead to a new cultural quirk, supernatural effect or other notable change to daily life, or aquires a grandmaster level skill or supernatural ability that would affect the day-to-day lives of their settlers. (Note: This must be a skill, capstone or magical ability that would enable the player to be a better leader, such as leadership or intelligence. Skills that improve the player but not their settlers, such as strength or smithing, should not be applied for unless they provide a capstone relevant to the settlement. When applying for this reward the player should suggest what effect they believe would be appropriate.)
Vega is now Tier 2 Leadership. Her Gateway ability is:

Should a PC or NPC be working under Vega's leadership the benefits from any bonuses from her Leadership skill (Capstones and future Leadership Tier 2 stuff) still happen as though she was there, even if she isn't. PCs (and NPCs) can choose to accept this - and in order for it to work they will need to consider / think about how Vega would deal with the situation / what she would say if she was there. It needs to be either a task Vega has specifically given or a situation where they are operating under her leadership anyhow (so, the people in Sweetsong would - when she was in Storm's Edge, the people there would have, too).

That means that all NPCs who choose to (and, of course all PCs) have access to:
    Irritatin' an' Chipper
    Irritatin' an' Chipper
Vega is aggressively optimistic. Her time in Rharne during the Siege of Storm's Edge taught her that, no matter what, she had to keep up her own sense of optimism. This has allowed her to lead others by example, but specifically by making people happy in whatever task she is leading them in. If Vega is part of a group working to a common goal, then her enthusiasm and optimism mean that people are able to keep going just that bit longer, or perform just that bit better. This has an impact on the outcome of a task - when working together on a task which has a physical product (like rebuilding the walls in Storms Edge) then that outcome will be better than it would otherwise be, while the outcome of more abstract tasks (like exploring) will simply be more efficient.

Mechanically, this means that a physical outcome (like rebuilding the walls) will result in the job will either be finished in half the time, or at one quality level above what would be expected (eg: average will become good. If these criteria aren't in place, it'll need to be story-specific but will follow this format). Which of these outcomes it is will be dependent on whether Vega's pushing people to hurry, or to do their best. For more abstract tasks (eg: exploring) the task will simply be performed to the best capability in half the time.

    Approved: here
    Leadin' by example
During the Siege of Storm's Edge, Vega found herself in a number of positions where she had to make snap decisions and act on them. There were things which needed doing, jobs which had to be done. She has learned that one way to get things done is by the simple expedient of starting them. Rather than tell people what to do, Vega is very much an "in there and doing it" kind of leader. That means that, when she's working in a team - whether she's in an active leadership role or not - her very nature of leading by example, of getting right in there and getting her hands dirty makes people more inclined to do the same. This specifically means that teams work better when Vega is in them. Whether she's crew on a ship or a member of a military unit, they work smarter and harder and get things done. The outcome of this is that the group functions at peak efficiency - resources are used the best they can be, communication is at its best. The longer Vega is part of this team, the more they work like a well-oiled machine and the more efficient they become.

After working in a team once, this capstone starts to take effect. Thereafter, the multitude of tasks which need doing in any group situation get done more quickly and to a higher standard. Mechanically it means that they need less people to do a job than they might otherwise, freeing people up to do other tasks. If building a wall would take five people five days - if Vega is in the team then it'll take less people (maybe 3) to build it in 5 days. All five people would build it in 3 days.

    Approved: here
    When in doubt, shout

During her time at Storm's Edge, Vega gave help to anyone she could. The upshot of this is that she learned the importance of asking for - and giving - help. When she is part of a group, Vega's way of being in the group makes it more and more acceptable to ask for help. After working together once, this capstone will begin to take affect - and the more she works with people, the more comfortable they are with asking for, receiving, or offering, help. This means that they work together better, of course, but this capstone is about increasing efficiency. Mechanically it means that, after she's been part of a group and been bossing people about for that time (eg: The Lightning Knights of Storms Edge) for a full season, tasks will be performed at full efficiency in half the time in any task Vega is involved in. If this is combined with another capstone, the quickest it can be is one quarter of the time.

    Approved here
To access this they need to actively consider what Vega would do - but I would suggest that, in terms of this being the remit of all NPCs, maybe an Order boost would be in order?

Thanks so much for the help!

Approved the Tier 2 ability as a cultural quirk, copy paste it to the settlement profile if you will, as it's good for that. Also +5% order for each Leadership Capstone that Vega has that affects the settlers Please update your settlement profile and so on!

Re: Settlement Progress Requests

Hi Hi!

I'd like to apply for a 400 PB NPC for Sweetsong. (that gives her 410 XP)
I'd like to then add another 72 XP taking the total to 482 XP

Therefore, this will cost

400 + (72 * 5=360) = 760 PB. I have deducted that from my UCP.

Name: Vorta

Race: Human

DoB 1st Saun 682

Skills:
Teaching: Competent -- 26
Appraisal - Master - 76
Jewelry Crafting - Master - 76
Sculpting - Master - 76
Glassblowing - Master - 76
Leather working - Master - 76
Pottery - Master - 76

Vorta was, once, once of the most sought- after artisans in Rynmere. She commanded an inordinately high price and she created items of beauty for the nobility and noble families. However, she witnessed the horrors of Rynmere, she saw the mage burnings and she barely escaped with her life as the plague hit.

Everyone she cared for or loved died in that plague and Vorta left Rynmere in the hope of finding somewhere else. However, she never settled and she spent her days travelling from place to place. She made her living by creating pieces of art as and when she needed to but she grew more and more dissatisfied with every society she visited.

Eventually, she heard of Sweetsong and the people there. She knew of Vega, the Champion of XIur, of Sir Chip the brave Tunawa knight and, the closer she got the more she heard; she learned of WInston the chef and Jasper the Aesir. The more she learned, the more she liked what heard and then she heard of what had happened there in the Pirate Lord attacks.

She knew then that this was a place where she could be and grow and settle down and where she would be kept safe.

And so, she set out for Sweetsong.

Seems legit. Please add this NPC to your settlement profile and RP her arrival, then post here again.

Re: Settlement Progress Requests

Settlement Name: Sweetsong
Thread: Capstones:

Genesis Splicing ~ Whereas most gardeners aren't able to produce a spliced plant that can pass on its spliced traits to children through reproduction, Kisaik has reached such a skill in gardening that he can create a new viable species of spliced plants that are able to propagate, passing on spliced traits as well as native ones. This takes one parent plant as the base for the traits or produce to be spliced, and then with no more than one spliced trait from the donor. The result is a plant that is identical to the parent with a single additional trait from the donor. Further splicing of new species would require more capstones.

Participants: Kisaik's Capstones
Brief description: Some gardening capstones that might help Sweetsong.
Settlement Resources Used:
  • Any plants?

Hay Kis!

So, I have no issue with this rather cool ability giving some kind of perk to Sweetsong, but rather then simply listing the Capstone here and seeing what A Mod might come up with, can I please request that you propose a perk to be reviewed and approved?

For example, what will this perk actually result in settlers being able to do and how? Are you suggesting something like:

While Kisaik is in resistance: Any settler can create their own splices at will through Kisaik's generosity. The process take a season to complete.

That's a total shot in the dark off the top of me head, not really representative of what I think is right, but hopefully it gives you an idea of what I'm after :-)
