Event: Craft of Dreams
There was something strange in the air. Like a hum, or a buzz, or the static charge of some unseen storm brewing on the horizon. It seemed to follow Devin no matter where he went, and it might have been his imagination, but it seemed to grow stronger, heavier... until, as though a great hand had dropped him from the sky into the middle of a muddling crowd, a very strange-looking man appeared.
His top-hat hung at a jaunty angle on his shaved head, an unlit pipe was gripped between his teeth, and underneath a flapping coat of long tails and elaborate spiral patterns could be seen an assortment of belts and loops of leather criss-crossed over his chest, containing metal and wooden instruments that one could only dream the uses for. He certainly seemed to know his way around them however, for he tapped at a strange circular disc at his hip and a thick metal cord sliced the air above him and disappeared inside. Then, as if nothing out of the ordinary had just happened, he started walking - straight for Devin.
"Hey-ho!" he offered in greeting with a warm smile. "Allow me to introduce myself. Teq Vy'lhadi. Champion of Aeva, and in quite a spot of bother, but then, I've heard you are as well, and no pretty one either. Little bird's told me you've got some trouble handling the tunnels under the Smooglenuff Barony on Faldrass, and I can hardly blame you. Luckily, I think I've got just the trick for that - if you're willing to help me out a little myself with a slight rationing issue."
Pointing straight up in the air somewhat cryptically, he explained, "My work requires me to move around all over, and long travel times often leaves me relying on travel rations. Only thing is, most of those things taste ghastly, you know, all hard and salty! Do you think you could make some travel rations that contain all the necessities of hearty meals and delicious taste, while still keeping their freshness over the many trials of my travels? If so, I'd be delighted to help with your tunnelling problem." He offered his hand to shake on the rather peculiar arrangement, but if Devin did, he'd find quite a firm grip and an even wider smile, as if his face could even fit any more cheer on its surface.
Then, Teq released his grip, and in Devin's hand was a little sealed packet of some strange powder, like one might find in a snowglobe. It floated in the packet even when utterly still. "Tear that open and release what's inside when you've found the solution, and I'll know when and where to find you."
