	1st Ymiden	Fortress	On the 1st Ymiden 722, the newly expanded and refurbished Academy of Viden officially opens. In the Fortress, there are banners hung and decorations - street vendors serve hot food and there is a party atmosphere. Inside the academy there are formal parties and academic gatherings Open Feel free to incorporate this party atmosphere into your posts. Members of the Academy have the opportunity to mingle with the higher-ups.
	1st Ymiden	Fortress	Academy Challenge: The Academy has put out a call for innovators to brainstorm designs and innovations for the purposes of being used in Faith Augustin's proposed Mega-Hospital, which will be based in Rharne. Entries are due by the 83rd of Ymiden Open ~ please post your entries in the Impact Tracker!
	1st Ymiden	Tangar	On the 1st Ymiden 722, the new TRA officially opens. While this is being hailed as a new era for Viden, with a new remit to the now-defunct FRA, there are those who believe that the TRA maintains the remit of the old FRA, that it is merely being repackaged to make it more acceptable to Treid. Time, of course, will tell. Open: Jobs in the TRA are available.
	1st-31st Ymiden:	Fortress	In honor of Padraig Augustin and his resurrection of Treid, the Viden Academy hosts the 'Observance of Knowledge - Commemorative Congress of Treid's Return.' Professors from every department at the Academy give free mini-lectures to the public on various topics, celebrating the sharing of knowledge. Astrophysics is of particular importance, being Padraig's specialty, as are historical accounts of the events that led up to and involved the Immortal's resurrection, including the resurrection itself, the sharding of Treid and the events of Tried's Tomb. While the Academy runs the event, these lectures/classes/demonstrations are offered throughout the fortress, often with local artisans and craftspeople joining in and giving demonstrations of their skills. Viden's streets are (tastefully) alive throughout these trials with music, food, and celebration.Open
	7th Ymiden	Fortress	There is a buzz of excitement among the seamstresses, tailors and merchants of Viden; a shipment of exotic fabrics has come in and the shipment is much larger than had been expected! Some of these fabrics are very unusual indeed and there are many shops who have more than they need - sales ensue! Open: If you want to pick up some fabric or clothing you may do so on this date in a thread (can not be assumed) as though you are 2 Wealth Tiers higher than you are. If you wish to acquire some more exotic / unusual fabrics, please develop one first in the Viden Development Forum . Once approved, this will then need to be acquired in thread.
	19th Ymiden	Outside	The Rangers are seeking new recruits. Wilderness types are welcome to apply - full training is given and you get to work in a team whilst protecting Yvithia's Fortress. The pay is excellent and there are incentives for joining now! Open: Reward Odd job, working on an ad-hoc basis, or joining up full time - there's lots of opportunities here!
	25th Ymiden	Fortress	With the expansion of Viden and the re-opening of the Academy, there is a push from the Directorate encouraging people to set up businesses here. This is open to residents only, but the incentives are very good indeed! Open: PC run businesses which are opened in Viden during this Cycle may claim back a full 50% of their startup costs after 1 arc of trade!
	37th Ymiden	Fortress	Cartographers, Explorers, Navigators sought! One of Videns high-end cartography shops is seeking someone to undertake a full survey of the waters around Viden. There is a cash reward and the possibility of more work! Open: Reward For every thread where you map the waters around Viden (you can go out as far as you like - but must start at Viden, and work outwards) - a cash reward will be given. Possible other rewards available!
	50th Ymiden	Fortress	Sahe'a : Though love is not the first thing to come to mind when a person thinks of Viden, it does not mean it is unimportant. Lady Yvithia decided to show her support for those who chose to study the language of "love" by creating the Sahe'a festival. It is a day when shops have sales to try and boost their popularity among the younger people. As the sun begins to go down, light music can be heard all over the city. Couples go for walks, go out to eat, and sit on the top of flat-roofed buildings to watch the stars that shine brightly in the sky. It is a trial devoted to relationships and their unique place in the universe.
	60th - 70th Ymiden	Fortress	Master Smith : The fires of the forge are always burning in Yvithia's fortress and there is a competition over this ten-trial period for who can forge the most impressive item (it doesn't have to be a sword!). The thing is, this is not about being a master smith, but rather an excellent teacher as the competition is for which smith can take a complete novice and train them. The smith whose novice makes the best item gains significant kudos and there is a prize for the no-longer-novice in question. All smiths offer free lessons during this time. Open: Reward Submit a single post with all your threads to the Impact Tracker, and the winner will be determined.
	80th Ymiden	Fortress	Yvithia's Song : Yvithia asks for people to submit a song they have written which celebrates life and birth, in preparation for the Festival of Natalis. The Directorate will hear the original entries and a winner will be chosen to sing during the Festival. Open: Reward Submit thread(s) where you perform for the judges (just assume they're important looking people you don't know / don't recognise) to the Impact Tracker.

	1st Saun	Fortress	The second sun appears and the people of Viden welcome the light and warmth (or, you know, not quite so freezing) of the sun. Many of the shops and homes hang sun-themed decorations, from bright yellow streamers to intricate glass. Open Feel free to incorporate this into your posts.
	10th Saun	Fortress	Festival of Natalis - In Viden, all birthtrials are celebrated on the same trial to minimize disruption to the city and for efficiency. On this trial, almost all of Viden is shut down and a public celebration is held, complete with food and music. Small gifts are exchanged within family units, but always done privately. Open Feel free to incorporate this into your posts.
	14th - 16th Saun	Fortress	An impromptu "Tournament of Logic" grows over these three trials. Apparently starting from a particularly interesting game which was being played in the street, people set up tables throughout Viden to take part in these games (such as chess, etc - give them your own name / fantasy theme) and soon there are bets being made and money changing hands. An opportunity for those who enjoy puzzles and games, and those who like to make a little money! Open ~ have fun / run with it.
	23rd Saun	Fortress	Apricus Devoted to the concept that art and culture enhance brain function and well-being, this trial is given over to the Adamantite District, where plays, art exhibits, poetry readings and all manner of art and culture are honored. Street performances are a common sight with singers and musicians giving concerts. The theaters are all open and performances throughout the Adamantite District are free.
	29th Saun	Fortress	Delighted with the heat of the second sun, people take time to pursue outdoor activities. Individuals and small groups - and larger groups organised by workplaces and schools - venture outside to learn such pursuits as horseriding and archery. Open
	30th - 33rd Saun	Fortress / Outside	Viden's residents are shocked to learn that a child did not return from their school outing yester-trial. The group in question returned very late, as they had been searching. A call goes to volunteers - will anyone help search!? Seasonal Modded Event.

Natural Phenomena

• The waters around Viden are particularly full of fish this Cycle. Fisher-folk report that it's like the fish are jumping into the nets!
• During the night of the 5th, 19th & 30th Ymiden, the wind whistles around the Fortress in a manner that is positively eerie.
• There are reports of ghosts in the Fortress throughout Ymiden.
• Viden notices an increase in birds throughout the second half of Ymiden and throughout Saun. This might be related to the over-population of fish, but those in the know say that it's still rather peculiar.
• Throughout Saun the second sun causes ice to glow, reflecting the aurora. It's quite beautiful.
• With the slight increase in temperature, ice becomes a very real issue - it doesn't snow so much so the ice melts, re-freezes, and people fall. It's a danger!

Weather

So, lets get things straight here. This is Viden. It's cold. It's very cold.

This is the Hot Cycle, so this is the least cold that Viden gets. Which means that, in Ymiden, sometimes, if you were outside without any training or equipment, you might live for a full 20 or even 30 minutes before you perished horribly.

Between 15th - 22nd Ymiden there are lightning storms. They light up the sky and there is very loud thunder pealing overhead.

Throughout Saun, the second sun means that Viden is perpetually light. Yet, the moon is still visible, just barely.

Skies

• The Aurora is particularly beautiful throughout Ymiden
• The sky by day is clear and cloudless, except during the storms of the 15th - 22nd Ymiden
• At night, the moon above Viden glows particularly brightly and seems very close.
• Throughout Saun there is bright suns'light and clear skies.
• The aurora is at it's weakest in Saun, but it is still very pretty.

Trending

The following trends occur in Viden throughout this season:

• Spectacles: Be like a scientist. Look smart, see better!
• Lace Trim: On gloves, on shoes, on your collar or cuff. Lace is in and the more elegant the better!
• Hot Chocolate: Some biqaj traders brought in a supply of cocoa, and hot chocolate is all the rage!
• Baskets! Basketweavers of Viden, get busy! Pretty baskets (trimmed with lace, all the better!) are in every fashionable home.

We're going to try something different here, this Cycle. Please assume that, where it is reasonable to do so, all events which happen in the Fortress are mirrored to a lesser degree / on a smaller scale in the locations outside the Fortress. We'll see how that goes and, depending on how it works, may adopt that approach.
