The notices on this board are very varied ~ from rumours (which might be completely true or wildly inaccurate) to spaces on scientific expeditions, exploration of new territories or exchanges with the Viden Academy or Rharne Institute.
Each item on this board has a location ~ some of these are not in Scalvoris

Many of these opportunities can be used for Wealth Threads, if applicable. Please note ~ if you are going to use this as a Wealth Thread, it must meet the criteria for that as well as the specific criteria for the item itself.
Some expeditions may be "all expenses paid" - which means that you do not have to pay for any living expenses for the allocated time of the exploration! Please read the advertisement carefully and confirm with a Prophet of Viden, Rharne or Scalvoris, who will confer.
Most explorations relevant to citizens of Scalvoris will be posted here, however it is always worth checking the Viden and Rharne boards, so you don't miss out on other exciting opportunities!

Job Name: Science Scholarship Item Type: Research/Study Location: Rharne, Scalvoris & Viden Details: In order to celebrate his appointment, Doran Thetys, the new Dean of the Institute of Sciences at the Academy of Viden, has decided to sponsor promising students of the sciences as well as scientific projects in general. People in Viden, Scalvoris or Rharne that are interested in applying, should write to the dean and describe their academic accomplishment, their project or their idea for one. Skills Required: None. Some skill in Science or Research can be helpful though. OOC Notes: If you are interested in receiving a scholarship, either write a science study thread at the Academy of Viden or one of its sister campuses in Rharne or Scalvoris (You have to be registered as a student and obviously be successful at your studies in order to receive a scholarship.) or write at least one thread where you come up with an idea for a scientific project, or realize one, and send a letter describing your activities to Doran afterwards. Name: Scaltoth Flora & Fauna Item Type: Adventure Location: Scaltoth Jungle, Scalvoris Details: This area is largely unmapped and the flora and fauna mostly uncatalogued. That being the case the University is seeking individuals who will bring back maps, sketches, and samples of unknown flora and / or corpses (live specimens preferred) of the creatures of the Scaltoth OOC Requirements/ Notes: OOC Note: multiple threads required. Skills such as Cartography, Art / Drawing, Writing, Research - will all be helpful. When you claim this you should submit at least two new locations / flora / fauna / maps etc for development in Scaltoth Jungles specifically. Note in there that the dev piece is for this expedition. Then, when approved, you will need to write the stories of your PC(s) discovering these! Name: Scalvoris Materials Item Type: Exploration / Discovery Location: Throughout Scalvoris Details: While Scalvoris has many recorded and catalogued unusual flora, fauna, and materials - we are always seeking to either expand our knowledge on existing resources or discover new ones. We are seeking keen and skilled individuals to ensure that we are always expanding our learning in this way. OOC Requirements/ Notes: When you claim this you should submit at least two new flora / fauna / materials / resources for development. Note in there that the dev piece is for this expedition. Then, when approved, you will need to write the stories of your PC(s) discovering these! Name: Legends Item Type: Research Location: Throughout Scalvoris Details: The historical society of Scalvoris wishes to preserve traditions, legends, tales and myths from Scalvoris' past. Therefore we are seeking individuals willing to go to all corners of the island and to unearth the myths and tales throughout the land. OOC Requirements/Notes: Go and find out stories from salty old sailors, discover factions and myths and tales throughout the land. When you claim this you should submit at least two new legends / tales / songs / etc for development. Note in there that the dev piece is for this expedition. Then, when approved, you will need to write the stories of your PC(s) discovering these! Hazard Level: Medium - although this is largely determined by the player and the stories you choose to tell. Name: Sweetwine Woods Item Type: Exploration / Map-Making Location: Scalvoris: Sweetwine Woods specifically Details: Sweetwine woods has changed over the last few arcs. We are seeking keen cartographers and students of animal behaviour to map and catalogue the place, bringing back samples, notes, and diagrams of findings as well as maps. OOC Requirements/Notes: Skills such as Cartography, Art / Drawing, Writing, Research - will all be helpful. When you claim this you should submit at least two new locations / flora / fauna / maps etc for development in Sweetwine specifically. Note in there that the dev piece is for this expedition. Name: The Mednix Agriculture Project Item Type: Research / Adventure Location: Throughout Scalvoris Details: Oram Mednix has discovered that there is a secondary use for Glowing Chickens -- pest control. The glow attracts bugs and keeps them off crops! This has sparked a realisation in the Science Institute that they could do this sort of thing quite effectively. Therefore, they set up the "Mednix Agriculture Project" (MAP). This part of the university is dedicated to not just studying the weirdness of Scalv, but of actually using the strange flora & fauna (etc) to the betterment of the farmers. They send out expeditions to collect flora / fauna AND work on practical applications. OOC Requirements/ Notes: OOC Note: this is a chance to either explore existing flora / fauna, or dev new things - also to discover secrets about existing things. Hazard Level: Varies, depending on what you do. Details: There are only a few known locations that have been documented by those at the library in Viden. Most prefer to focus on their own studies within the city. Viden has opened up for anyone wanting to come and explore all the wilds around not only the city. But also help fund their stays at the outlying villages to learn more from there as well.

Name: Rharnean Mutant Fauna & Flora Item Type: Adventure / Discovery Location: Mistral Wood, Ywyngyll Forest, Stormwastes, Details: Strange changes have come to the wilds of Rharne's territory. Certain new flora have continually been discovered over the arcs, from Ilaren's Cap to Flashnip, new specimen are being discovered every season! OOC Requirements/ Notes: One thread for development of a new flora/fauna. One thread for Discovery, additional threads for Innovation. Name: Westwind Exploration Item Type: Exploration / Discovery / Adventure Location: Westwind Ruins Details: Not much is known about the West Wind Ruins, but it's rumored that ancient technologies and innovations just lay beneath the surface of the ruins, waiting to be uncovered. For those who bring back artifacts, the Rharnean Institute of Innovation has promised a substantial reward, based on the usefulness and relevance of whatever is recovered! Name: Refinement and Retrieval Item Type: Exploration / Discovery / Adventure Location: Volta and the Stormwastes Details: The new Chancellor of the Rharnean Institute was an old professor of Arcana, specifically teaching about Defiance, Attunement, and Transmutation.
In addition to that expertise, he's also a renown Technologist, having graduated from the Viden Academy in both departments with high marks and academic accolades. He wishes to marry the wonders of Arcana, specifically his own, with that of technology. He believes that the refinement of the elements are key to this endeavor.
Volta is well known as a city of thunder and lightning, rocked by storms constantly and the refinement of fire and wind. While the Stormwastes in the wake of Ashan's latter days has become a large mud flat, due to the infusion of icey water into its depths, and the destruction of much of its vegetation. Those who discover other natural sources of elemental Refinement, namely Storm and Steam, would be well rewarded. But for now the expedition is focused on exploring the phenomenon of these two locales. OOC Requirements/ Notes:Multiple threads required. These can be done individually or collaboratively. Name: Brew Innovation Item Type: Development / Discovery / Crafting Location: Rharnean Institute for Innovation / Rharne Details: Brewers, chemists, and alchemists are wanted for the purpose of discovering brave new brews that can delight and confound the populace of Rharne. Many of the prestigious taverns are willing to pay good money for their own signature brew, and will give a fortune for exclusive rights to reproduce such a delicacy. The brew must contain at least one top secret ingredient that would be difficult to guess. OOC Requirements/ Notes:Multiple threads required. These can be done individually or collaboratively.
