Finally, the deed was done.
They'd all be given a moment to sit back, to lament in their victory - and to assure, for themselves, that it was truly a victory. Rhaum and the Purveyor had masterminded an assault the likes of which would never be repeated, brought terror to the city of Rharne and its inhabitants, and ravaged the Stormwastes, hollowing it out and filling it with a whole new breed of terrible enhanced monster, specifically designed to kill and destroy as much as physically possible. But now, their bodies, their minds... even their Mortalborn souls would never taint the world again, as Brightgleam water ate through what remained of their defeat like acid.
And then, there was Brightgleam water all around them. Or rather, it had always been there - it was just that the space, the strange chamber they'd occupied had not allowed them to see it up until this moment. Upon the revelation, some might have wondered why they didn't come to the same conclusion beforehand; what better way to contain Rhaum and the Purveyor, to make sure that they could not escape the prison designed to be their end, than to place them underneath Lake Lovalus. Quite literally underneath it, in a strange 'bubble' of air, toeing the line between the Beneath, Emea, and Idalos. A Convergence. Looking around, they could even make out the rocky markings of the Lake floor, trails of vegetation gripping the bottom of the lake, make out strange glowing fishes that swam around them, bubbling in confusion.
And who else could, or would, wield such power, but Lovalus themselves.
The spirit's presence was felt immediately by its Wardens, in the same way their Warden powers would grant them clarity in moments of high stress and danger. To those yet uninitiated, it was like being partially submerged in warm, clean water. Almost like an embrace that they could not quite reciprocate. It squeezed them all gently, with a note of thanks. Their deeds that day had not gone unnoticed by the beings of Rharne, their bravery, skill... especially their cunning. Its touch lingered on Varlum, swirling in his head for a moment with memories of the first day he had become a Warden. Alongside Lynessa, and Lucas, they had fought the first Flameborn. Back then, they never could have known just how far things would stretch... but now, as it drew to its close, Lovalus recalled that day, and remembered what had become of Lynessa, pawn of Faldrun, and Lucas, forgotten to time. It had granted Lucas a special item, to be wielded by those it deemed true of heart, to carry the Wardens forwards. Though Varlum was not Grand Warden, yet, Lovalus did not mask its expectation that he would be worthy of the role soon enough... and until then, it imparted something special. Something that would need protection. It could think of nobody more suited to this task. The Heart of Lovalus would appear in his hand, thrumming with concentrated ephemera.
Its touch also hovered over its two Grand Wardens, Vivian and Vega. It had already granted them the highest honours that it had the power to offer, yet it felt the time necessary now to speak to them both individually, in that strange and inscrutable way that it always did. To Vega, it turned and showed a beacon within her head, shining like a star over Rharne until it covered the entire city in its light, banishing the creeping darkness, showing the way forwards... yet it was only when more stars rose in the sky, dotting the surroundings to shine down upon lakes and rivers and forests and coasts, that all of the Stormlands, the Stormwastes, the villages and even beyond them to the rest of the continent became visible. One star could brighten a thousand eyes - but it did not make the night sky as they knew it. That responsibility - that task - it asked of her. Asked, not told. But she could feel Lovalus' touch tighten for an instant, and felt its presence settle more heavily on her shoulders, like a heavy cloak. It would be a difficult task, but one it did not intend for her to carry out alone, or without support, should she need it.
Vivian meanwhile felt a sudden sharp burning in her side, like a burn, a sharp and gnawing ache of a grevious wound from long ago that would never heal... but the pain quickly receded, growing duller and softer until it vanished completely, suddenly washing over her body with a strange cooling, calming sensation of wholeness and completion. It was, it felt, a rather apt metaphor for just how important her efforts thus far had been, and how important they were to Lovalus, to purge the last vestiges of what were, in truth, quite painful injuries that yet prevented it from reaching its full power once more. Yet, an idea appeared, something Lovalus lingered on, struggling to convey in a rare moment of genuine frustration at itself. Water, flowing rapidly, swirling across the ground until a path formed for it, growing deeper and deeper, only the vision reversed on itself. A deep, well-worn path, healed by flowing water. Lovalus' touch lingered just a moment longer, then finally pulled back, with a final brush to the cheek. She would understand. It knew that even if she didn't straight away, she was already on the right path.
Though they could all feel, somehow, that Lovalus had pulled away again, that feeling, that warm embrace remained as a parting gift for the work that they had done that day. Gennadiya, though she might not notice it, felt a little something extra, as a token of appreciation given her circumstances, and how she'd overcome them nonetheless throughout the course of their struggles.
At last, the bubble burst. Lake water flooded back in to fill the gap, to the brink of crushing them all - and instead swept them all up, carrying them to the surface high, high above. They'd emerge from the lake cleaner than they'd arrived, strangely dry given their dip in the lake... and safe in the knowledge that Rhaum and the Purveyor would harm the land no more.
There were still the matter of their Flameborn, of course. Cut off from their creators, they could not procreate themselves to reproduce more of their kind, however their existence was not intrinsically linked to Rhaum and the Purveyor, allowing them to continue causing terror, only now with even less of the measured and controlled approach of their tactically-sound masters. Instead, reduced to a feral mindstate, those that had survived the eruption of their base would now spill into the Stormwastes much like they had during the first assaults of the previous arc. Many others would populate the Stormwastes, potentially forever, since none knew of the maturity cycles of Flameborn, or even if their strange half-risen bodies aged at all. What could happen, if one was allowed to live and regain a sentience of its own.
Hart's Wish would now become the final nail in the coffin. An end to the war, by churning the ground of every last Flameborn in a giant eruption of the land - and the subsequent seal by Ilaren, Xiur, and Qylios. The destruction of the earthquake and the starving out of the last survivors would leave not even a trace of Rhaum's creations when the dust cleared on the 1st of Ymiden, 721.
This was the end of the Siege of Storm's Edge.
***
Wowsers! This marks the end - of the entire event. I still need to go back through and do plenty of other reviews for other parts throughout, but this marks the conclusion and wraps everything up, while leaving some notes moving forwards for future progression, and what will happen next to the Stormwastes. Your review is also included below!
Vega
Points: 20XP
Knowledges:
Tier 2 Sword: Launching a concentrated volley of precise strikes.
Tier 2 Sword: Surprise attack, straight for the neck.
Tier 2 Sword: Wearing down mobility by aiming for joints.
Endurance x3
Strength x3
Mark Progression: Vega's actions during the fight have been recognised by Qylios and been rewarded with the next two mark abilities.
Brilliant Weapons (Moderate): The Adored is able to create weapons out of solid light. The Adored can generate one melee weapon and one shield, or one ranged weapon at a time. To produce a weapon, the Adored must be in an area of decent illumination (ie. Outside during sunrise or sunset, near a campfire or other light source during the night, or in a dimly lit room).
Bound Tongues (Moderate): The Adored is able to understand and speak one Fluent Language of those they have Bonded. The selected language can be changed once per trial.
Vega's actions have also been noticed by Xiur. She has been rewarded with the next two mark abilities.
Cloud Form: Once per trial, the Blessed can alter the physical structure of his body to an equal mass of cloudy mist. This can enable escapes from bonds as well as cells or other tight spots. It does not enable controlled flight, but like any waft of mist, air currents can lift and carry him. A fast moving air current can allow him to travel quite swiftly. He can slowly thicken his form to bring him down safely from heights obtained by these currents. This form can last up to thirty bits, depending on the Blessed's concentration. Switching in and out of this form does not heal wounds.
Nova Flare: The Blessed can do one of two things: He can glow at an unbearably bright level, giving off an aura of heat that makes anyone getting close enough to touch him believe they will take burning damage if they do. This lasts for one bit for every Nalos ability earned. Or they can flash a single burst of light that blinds everyone within 100 yards for 1 bit, 80 yards for 2 bits, 60 yards for 3 bits, 40 yards for 4 bits, and 20 yards for 5 bits.
Warden Points: 2 points completion + 2 for each other Warden (2) + 6 bonus for answering the call of Lovalus. 12 total.
Rewards: Boon of Lovalus. For defeating Rhaum and the Purveyor, Lovalus grants you a unique ability drawn from spirit powers. This is Exalted-equivalent. Please post the request for this ability to the PSF.

Vivian
Points: 20XP
Knowledges:
Tactics x3
Acrobatics x2
Blades x2
Strength x2
Mark Progression: Vivian has earned the respect of Ilaren for her actions, and has earned the final mark ability for Palenon. She is rewarded the final ability of Adored.
Ride the Lightning: The Adored is able to travel along any bolt thrown using their Elemental Manipulation, ending where the bolt impacts or at their Elemental Manipulations maximum distance. Alcohol intoxication diminishes the power of this ability.
Upon her return to Rharne, she is also greeted by Ilaren, who bestows upon her the new rank of Exalted. With it comes the first three abilities.
Elemental Manipulation (Lightning - Major): The character is able to control massive amounts of lightning, and at great distances. They are able to throw two bolts at once. Their limit is extended to a distance of 500 feet before the lightning dissipates, and can be bounced up to five times to strike a total of six targets. If the bolt hits, it can cause severe pains, heavy burns, numbness, and can throw the target back on impact. Those hit by the bounce effects of this ability are dealt damage as though hit by a bolt of the Moderate version. Alcohol intoxication diminishes the power of this ability.
Sparked Interest III: The character is granted an extra nine skill points which may be spent only on the following skills: Unarmed Combat, Brewing, Singing, or Endurance. Any skill points granted by this Mark can break the 250 (or 100 if fast track) point cap on skills. Within these skills, the points may be spent how the pc chooses.
Greater Tolerance: The Exalted's continued indulgence of alcohol has made their system all but immune to the aftereffects of even the strongest alcohol. The Exalted no longer suffers any aftereffects of over-drinking of any alcohol, including liquors, and is immune to any ingested poisons. The character is also able to use abilities as though they were one step lower in their level of intoxication. Any abilities that change with the Bearer's level of intoxication still function normally.
Vivian has also earned the attention of Pier and Pre, whom award her the next two abilities of their mark.
Self Reflection: Upon being granted this ability, the Gwelliph may dedicate a mirror to the twins and may use this to commune with the “essence” of the Immortals. While looking into the mirror, when faced with a decision, the Blessed speaks, apparently to their own reflection. This then replies and they are able to discuss with another how they should approach a situation. The “reflected self” is often quite opposite to the Blessed, reminiscent of how the twins themselves are. Should the mirror be broken, the Blessed may dedicate another ~ only one mirror may be in effect at any time.
Show Yourself: When this ability is used the eyes of the blessed turn a weird mesh of black and white, making it hard to hide. When thinking of a victim of any kind of abuse, attack or crime which the marked is aware of (they must know at least basic details), they sees a glowing red trail to the victim of that crime. This might lead the marked to a missing person, the owner of stolen property or to the body of a victim of a hidden murder. If the victim can not be found (perhaps their body has been destroyed, for example) the trail will take them to where the victim last was. The glowing red trail does not, however, take into account the environment and so is always in a single straight line directly towards the victim. There is no time limit on how long ago this crime was committed. This ability may be used once a trial and will last until the victim is found or the search abandoned. No more than three of these may be active at any one time at Favored, five at Adored and seven at Exalted.
Steelblood. Since Rhaum can be considered a true enemy and she did assist in his death, Vivian is now able to grant Steelblood to one additional person.
Renown: 25
Varlum
Points: 20XP (these can be used for magic XP in Defiance)
Knowledges:
Strength x3
Tactics x3
Unarmed x2
Discipline x2
Mark Progression:
Varlum's actions have earned the attention of Ethelynda. As a result, upon his return to Rharne, he is greeted by her, and awarded the rank of Adored, and three new abilities.
Iron Scales: The shield bearers skin literally becomes hard and scaly, giving them a significant boost to the level of physical damage they can take to their bodies. In addition, poisons and toxins are slowed to an high degree and weak poisons and toxins will halt their progress completely while this ability is in effect. The ability lasts for three Bits and takes two Breaks to recharge. This ability does not share a cooldown with Enduring Scales.
Serpent Manifestation: A skill that allows the bearer to summon a Taithir Serpent familiar, a serpentine spirit that aids the user in battle. This familiar has no real mind of its own but follows the directions of the summoner, though it will act to defend its summoner in extreme situations. The appearance of this familiar is unique to each Shield-Bearer, but each is the size of an anaconda and can take significant punishment.
Protective Skills II: The character is granted an extra six skill points which may be spent only on the following skills: Any Weapons Skill, Shield Use, or Endurance. Any skill points granted by this Mark can break the 250 (or 100 if fast track) point cap on skills. Within these skills, the points may be spent how the pc chooses.
His actions have also earned the attention of Ralaith, who awards him the rank of Adored, and three new abilities.
Pocket of Time (Moderate): The moderate variant of the Pocket of Time may reduce the speed, reflexes, etc., of a chosen individual by a third, or bolster these in an ally or themselves. This lasts for up to a bit, and can be re-utilized many times in one trial before exhausting one's touch with time for the day. One's wavelength must stabilize for two bits before it is utilized on the same target again.
Smell the Genius: A Bear has one of the more remarkable noses of the animal kingdom. A Shirvain is granted this power at Adored with an added benefit. Not only can they memorize and track smells over miles, but they can also smell both Wisdom and Bitterness on people. The stronger the sorrow and spite within another, the greater the smell off them will be. Likewise, knowledge and legendary skills have a strong smell associated. A Shirvain would have trouble describing the smell to another, but other Shirvain understand. With a whiff, a Shirvain can ascertain a general idea of the collected wisdom or bitterness of any person they're in proximity with.
Scholarly Minds II: The character is granted an extra six skill points which may be spent only on the following skills: Meditation, Teaching, Research, Writing. Any skill points granted by this Mark can break the 250 (or 100 if fast track) point cap on skills. Within these skills, the points may be spent how the pc chooses.
Loot: Heart of Lovalus. This solid crystal orb is comparable to a spirit gem containing part of Lovalus' power, and allows the wielder to grant Warden powers to individuals - but will only grant these powers to those that understand and adhere to the values of Lovalus.
Renown: 25
Gennadiya
Points: 20XP
Knowledges:
Stealth x4
Tactics x3
Ranged Combat x3
Discipline x2
Mark Progression: Gennadiya's actions have earned the attention of Ymiden, whom awards her the final two abilities for her rank.
Shimmering Blank: The Blessed can generate the mirage-like shimmer that makes distant details or features unseen. But he can use it to make things much closer go unnoticed, by having the light rays that would expose them be caught up in an updraft of light refraction. This ability can affect an area of volume equal to one hundred (100) cubic foot for every tier of this blessing the Blessed one possesses. Technically, this effect will last as long as the sun is in the sky, but is less likely to be noticed during the hottest part of the trial.
Focus of Forgiveness: The Blessed can apply an aura of compassion to a target he feels is genuinely remorseful over some deed he has committed. If this person surrenders to authorities, this aura will inspire compassion in those that are to judge him. This aura will last until either judgement takes place, or for one full cycle. This can only be cast once per season. At "Adored, it can be cast twice per season. At "Exalted", it can be cast three times.
Moseke has also watched her actions with approval, and judged her worthy of the next two abilities.
Calming Whispers: This ability allows the character to calm mental ailments, regardless of whether they are caused by old age, wounds, poison, curses, or arcana. When in use, the character must touch the temples. Upon touching the patient, green/yellow, transparent tendrils connect to the head, neck, and top of the spine. Energy is transferred through these where it is sent into the body to correct the mind. Concentration is key to this ability, as the character risks being drawn into their mind or the mind of the individual they are trying to save. Multiple sessions must be performed for the effects of this ability to last or until the mental ailments are cured. Fatigue, headache, nosebleeds, and nightmares are common symptoms of using this ability excessively.
Lemun Suna (Minor): Standing for 'seed sleep,' the user is capable of causing drowsiness in an opponent by blowing lightly on their palm. Small, pollen-like seeds are released from the palm into the opponents face. These spores have a sleepy effect on any that succumb to the pollen including the user. At a low level, this ability will subdue an opponent for 5 bits (minutes).
Gennadiya is also awarded a unique ability of Lovalus for her aid.
Edict of Lovalus: This ability can be cast from Genna's hands at half-effectiveness, infused into any bow she wields for full-effectiveness, or cast from a Spiritborn Weapon for double-effectiveness. This will create a spirit arrow of concentrated ephemera, similar in consistency and effect to Brightgleam Water, however highly concentrated and functioning as a spirit projectile. Upon contact with the target, the energy diffuses into them, and immediately forces a powerful calming effect on their minds, at max effectiveness equivalent to that of a Master-level Empath attack that brings with it an intense feeling of relaxation that can cause unconsciousness if the target cannot continuously resist the attack, and causing docility and aversion to combat in those who cannot completely shrug off the attack. Genna is also able to tailor the effectiveness of each arrow to suit her needs at the moment. Using multiple arrows on the same individual does not boost effectiveness.

Balthazar
Points: 20XP (these can be used for magic XP in Rupturing or Attunement)
Knowledges:
Rupturing x3
Attunement x3
Tactics x3
Discipline x2
Mark Progression: Vri is very pleased with Balthazar's performance. Noticing Balthazar is marked by nobody but himself, he bestows the next four abilities of his mark as a reward. Perhaps intent on firmly establishing ownership.
Eidetic: Those marked by Vri aren’t able to forget anything they have been exposed to or seen within their lifetime. The marked can recall events, conversations, and picture moments with perfect clarity, no matter what time frame within their life they draw the memory from.
Genetic Memory (Minor): As a domain, Remembrance is often overlooked by those who follow Vri. Although of vital importance, few pay it the proper homage it’s due. Most take it for granted. Those who follow Vri know differently, however. Memory is a record of the past and in that past, answers to current problems can be found. This ability relies on the creative powers of the player to help describe, but can be immensely valuable to the marked. Entering into a meditative trance, a marked of Vri can step ‘back’ two generations of their lineage seeking the answer to a problem. These answers come in the forms of visions, snatches of imagery and experience. Some with this ability spend many trials poring through the lives of their parents and their parents parents, hungry for experience and knowledge. This ability cannot be used on those who are already alive as they must have passed through Vri’s hands to be applicable. If one's father still draws breath, this ability cannot look into their lives. Only the dead may whisper their secrets through genetic experience.
Durge's Stain: For the marked of Vri, Death becomes a tangible force. Those with this ability require but a few moments of concentration to know if death occurred in a building or locale around them. They will always know exactly how many have died and the area in which the body fell. Even if the death is ages old, a marked of Vri can find the exact spot they breathed their last. Without a body, the marked can determine little else but vague impressions in the nature of the death (Violence, age, sickness), but this ability has been used before to aid investigations on where the scene of a murder really happened and whether further investigation is warranted. The marked, when touching the spot of death, can determine the age, name (The name the deceased most identified with), and sex of the individual who passed.
Memento: Memory is tangible, it has a weight. All experiences have a power to them. A marked of Vri can designate objects as Memento’s, specially enchanted items that hold memories. Most small objects can hold, at most, a single uninterrupted memory. It is said that working with a master crafter, specialized memento’s can be created but at this level, only one memory can be stored per object. When the memory is stored the user has a choice, to share the memory completely and sever it from their own mind, or share an echo of it. The echo will be muted, not completely clear, as if experiencing things through a heavy curtain. Usually this will still be enough to communicate the experience, but to truly have the owner of a memento experience the memory, it must be cut away entirely from the mind of the one giving it. Once tasked, the Memento can impart this memory to anyone who holds the object next. At this level, the memory is limited. The first other person to touch the object will receive the memory, causing the Memento to once again be only an object. A marked can either task their own memories, or the willing memories of another. At Exalted level, a Grand Memento can be crafted which will always hold its memory, never relinquishing the charge when gifting it to another. Those who are Vri’s champions can create Echo Mementos, which can include every memory within a Champion’s life. Sometimes such rare objects are left as guides to new Champions, who can ask a facsimile personality created by the memories for guidance and wisdom.
Rewards: Boon of Lovalus. For defeating Rhaum and the Purveyor, Lovalus grants you a unique ability drawn from spirit powers. This is Exalted-equivalent. Please post the request for this ability to the PSF.

Praetorum
Points: 20XP (these can be used for magic XP in Hone)
Knowledges:
Hone x4
Shield x3
Tactics x3
Strength x2
Discipline x1
Mark Progression: Ethelynda is extremely proud of Praetorum's handling of the battle. She grants him the last ability within his mark - and then appears before him upon his return to Rharne, awarding him the rank of Adored in person. Because he is also marked by nobody but herself, she bestows an additional reward - another ability of his next rank as well.
Second Wind: A skill that activates when the bearer is on their last legs, this gives them a burst of sudden energy at the moment when they need it most. However, this ability has a large drawback in that it can leave the bearer bedridden for several Breaks.
Any skill points granted by this Mark can break the 250 (or 100 if fast track) point cap on skills. Within these skills, the points may be spent how the pc chooses.
Serpent Tongue: This skill is seemingly useless at first, as it only allows the bearer to understand the language of snakes. However, this gives the bearer access to all the information that snakes can gather undetected, allowing those who know how to listen to find information they might never have otherwise learned. There are myriad other uses to this ability, depending on the ingenuity of the Shield-Bearer.
Rewards: Boon of Lovalus. For defeating Rhaum and the Purveyor, Lovalus grants you a unique ability drawn from spirit powers. This is Exalted-equivalent. Please post the request for this ability to the PSF.

Woe
Points: 20XP (these can be used for magic XP in Hone)
Knowledges:
Hone x4
Whip x3
Tactics x3
Discipline x3
Mark Progression: Sintra emerges to Woe in private and admits that she had underestimated him. His work in unravelling Rhaum was exemplary, and she looked forward to seeing more. She grants him the new rank of Adored and the first three abilities.
Silken Tongue: As the Blessed grows in power they find their manipulation increasing passively thanks to this ability. Any words spoken by the Lethroda will have an air of charisma to them, giving those around an urge to listen even if the end result is the same. This opens up many doorways, such as making persuasion easier or attracting more trust with less reasoning, though it does not increase your skills. However, this will not make someone act against their own beliefs. This is significantly weakened but still notable against someone with Expert in either Discipline or Meditation and is entirely voided if one of those skills or both are Master or above.
Ensnared in Web: Branching off of the Webspinner ability, this allows the Sintra-Marked to detect truth or lies in a conversation with any that they have tied themselves to in their web. When in a conversation with a webbed the Marked can instinctively tell if part of their sentence was secretive or an outright lie. This will not reveal what part was a lie but gives the Marked a general idea of how truthful someone has been. Despite knowing this information, however, it grants no buffs or boons to the skills the Marked must put in place and does not allow any control of those influenced by it.
Manipulative Skill II: The character is granted an extra six skill points which may be spent only on the following skills: Stealth, Persuasion, Deception, Tactics or any weapon skill (Including natural weapons i.e. Unarmed). Any skill points granted by this Mark can break the 250 (or 100 if fast track) point cap on skills. Within these skills, the points may be spent how the pc chooses.
Rewards: Boon of Lovalus. For defeating Rhaum and the Purveyor, Lovalus grants you a unique ability drawn from spirit powers. This is Exalted-equivalent. Please post the request for this ability to the PSF.

Nox
Points: 15XP
Knowledges:
Stealth x3
Mark Progression: Nox does nothing of note in this event and has not contributed in any of the Siege efforts until this point. Therefore, he avoids notice from the Immortals despite his participation. It turns out that this is a good thing; if Faldrun had known Nox willingly assisted in the murder of a high-ranking Faldrunborn, and protecting Rharne, while also being marked by him, Nox would surely have been cursed.
Rewards: Nox successfully spends the duration of the event avoiding the attention of Rhaum and the Purveyor. However, as a result, he also avoids the attention of Lovalus, and is not granted the same boon bestowed upon the other participants.

Final comments: This was, by far, the largest event I've ever undergone. It's been a long time coming, with a lot of things in the works, and it's had a lot of ups and downs. But I really hope that this conclusion wraps everything up nicely and gives you all exactly what you deserve. If you have any worries, please let me know - otherwise, enjoy!
