Re: Shouldering the Consequences

"Well as a sceptic then like you say. Try it yourself and see if it works." Finn said. In a way, it was the best option, for Zasa to try what Finn learnt in Desnind. Opening up and allowing others to help him. But Finn wouldn't go as far as suggesting that explicitly. If the blonde was ready and willing to accept that fact he'd certainly understand even without being told.
Hearing of the suicide attempt worried the priest. Yet, it was in the past and not something he could affect now. So it was simply stacked in the pile of knowledge he was collecting about this man. Because after all he posed an interesting question. One that Finn often wondered himself in the past.
The heaviness of the moment bore down on his shoulders for a few bits. Whilst he could carry the weight and did not mind it upon his frame, Finn knew that delving further into what his breaking would look like would only darken their horizons for in his mind it was not a pretty outcome.
"Let's just say I'd definitely not be here helping others. Probably quite the opposite." And that's where he left it. This was a threshold not meant to be crossed...yet. So feeling grateful that Zasa changed the topic himself, Finn's smile brightened up his expression and as they walked through a shadow of a building, finding momentary relief from the heat, that radiance seems to extend to his whole being - from head to toes. The shimmering was probably just an illusion, a play of light.
Finn remembered Ymiden. He remembered everything and anything about the man like it was yesterday.
“He's….surprisingly human like. Treats others with respect. Wishes well on everyone and has such an... open mind towards everything it's hard to belief he manages to accept the world as it. But he does. It's hard for him too, but at the end it's his nature." Chuckling then, Finn shook his head lightly. "He even blushes when emmbarassed and is kind of shy I'd say. Or so he seemed to be last time I met him."
Finn spoke of the Immortal like a friend, a familiar person that he cared for dearly. There was less devotion and fanatical worship and more genuine loyalty. One that would only be granted a few individuals in a life time. If Finn ever experienced different kinds of loves, this was definitely one of those.
“So Zasalamir. I know you're not a believer. But if you could choose and meet one immortal...who would it be?” The why tagged onto it without any need to be spoken. Finn's own eyes with their lively spark of intrigue were enough to testify to that.
And their steps took them closer to one of the larger structures in the city. One that very few wanted to enter under the wrong circumstances.

Favourite quote:
They do not yet understand the purpose of forgiveness. It is not to spare wrongdoers a punishment they deserve. It is to spare the injured ones the ongoing pain they do not.

Name Finn

Points awarded: 15

Knowledge:
Discipline: Practicing a Second Language When Give the Chance
Philosophy: Help Others to Help Yourself
Socialization: Making Conversation

Notes:
It's a shame this didn't continue to a proper ending, but you both did good work either way. I liked Finn's portrayal here, an earnest and good-hearted pastor who sought knowledge and enlightenment. Wonder how that'll weather once the brutish realities of Idalos life become more and more apparent to him.

Comments: Too bad ya'll never got a chance to finish it but it didn't wrap up too badly. Zasalamir manages to be super inquisitive but not a pest in this, its interesting how he asks so many questions but already has his own world view shaped. Nicely done!
