Re: New Price List Feedback
I'll probably be posting section by section as I can.
For EDIBLES:
I'm going to post an edited version instead of suggesting edits, because I feel like it takes less effort. Feel free to disregard any edits you don't like. Mostly I'll be editing to make things a little clearer, but let me know if you don't want me to do this in future. Unfortunately I don't know how to code the wiki, but I can copy and paste so--
1.) What about NPCs (specifically, dependents)? Are we not worrying about accounting for food for NPCs, or are we treating NPCs like PCs in that they will each be assigned a Wealth Tier and thus have access to their own food?
2.) When you say "meals / dishes" do you mean meals or dishes? Ten meals is different, to me, than ten dishes. Perhaps I'm reading too much into it? But for example, American Thanksgiving is one meal that is made up of many dishes.
3.) What tiers have access to non-essential / non-meal edibles, and how might PCs buy them? For example, if Hart wanted candy, would he need to buy that as a "meal / dish" or would that be under some other category?
4.) I'm curious why you settled on four meals / dishes rather than five?

Players can buy most of these items from their city's marketplace. It is up to each individual player as to whether or not their PC is hunting for or cooking their own food or purchasing it at markets or restaurants. It is important that you consider your regional variations when thinking about what your PC eats / cooks / buys. Seasons and availability will make a massive difference. Please note that the examples included here are real world examples and are meant to give you, the player, an idea of what is available. However, as Idalos is a fantasy setting, please check your city resources and be aware of the more unusual ingredients you may utilize.

Re: New Price List Feedback
So I'm wondering about the whole calculations for weapons. In the guide it says:
In order to "upgrade" a weapon to another metal choice, simply take 1/2 of the Ingot Cost + Original Weapon Tier (Without Quality Modifiers).
So, am I take take half of the ingot's wealth tier, or half the price to purchase it and add it to the original weapon's tier?

So you can code it either longhand or shorthand? Is that what you mean? Lol I know absolutely nothing about this. My experience with coding was c++ like five or six years ago in an into to c++ course. Which I was okay with at the time, but uh, my memory doesn't go that far back. And the course had nothing to do with html.Pegasus wrote:Looks fine - but will look again tomorrow with less tired eyes. FYI cos it might be easier.

Re: New Price List Feedback
There is now a price on the metals themselves, where you can purchase 1 wealth tier above your current at 2 wealth points. You are allowed to purchase up to a total of 50 ingots per season. Anything 2 or more wealth tiers above your current are inaccessible. It works the same for weapons and armour. Those three sections work together, since most players won't be buying ingots without some form of weapon or armour included.Rakvald wrote: ↑Sun Jan 20, 2019 2:47 am So I'm wondering about the whole calculations for weapons. So, am I take take half of the ingot's wealth tier, or half the price to purchase it and add it to the original weapon's tier?
Since most things 2 or more tiers above you are inaccessible, you can use some of the quality modifiers to buy above that limit. Let's say you are Tier 4. You only have leather armour, studded leather armour, and shields available to you since there are no tier 5 armours. Let's say you wanted some chainmail armour. If you take them as poor quality (-1 to the listed wealth tier) they then become Tier 5, which you can afford, at 2wp. Weapons work the same way. Tier 4 PC has access to quite a few weapons, but not some of the more fancy metals, like Adamantite for example. Let's see if we can't get this PC something...better than say, the little dagger he walked out of the dungeons with, yeah? Longsword is tier 6. If we take a poor quality one, it's now tier 5 and costs us 2 wps. Let's add in a different metal so it isn't a standard iron longsword. How about an Embersteel one? That's tier 5 as well, so another 2wps. So for a Poor Embersteel Longsword, our Tier 4 PC would have to pay 4wps in total. Not bad, considering.
Hopefully this answers the question, and is explained well enough!

Questions:
1.) What about NPCs (specifically, dependents)? Are we not worrying about accounting for food for NPCs, or are we treating NPCs like PCs in that they will each be assigned a Wealth Tier and thus have access to their own food?
Nah, I wasn't planning on it being that complex, to be honest. I was going to go with not worrying about personal NPCs unless it starts to get silly, in which case we'll deal with it on a case by case basis.
2.) When you say "meals / dishes" do you mean meals or dishes? Ten meals is different, to me, than ten dishes. Perhaps I'm reading too much into it? But for example, American Thanksgiving is one meal that is made up of many dishes.
LOL - oh my gosh, this was a LONG discussion in the Working Group. What do we mean? Well, I mean ten meals. But. I kind of mean.. actually, might it be better to put "can feed one person at that wealth tier for 10 days" or something? I mean, 1 WP is a LOT of money, potentially.
3.) What tiers have access to non-essential / non-meal edibles, and how might PCs buy them? For example, if Hart wanted candy, would he need to buy that as a "meal / dish" or would that be under some other category?
Oh, that's interesting. I guess I figured that the PC would know what sort of access to food they have - at average / Tier 5, you've got enough to buy some candy now and then. At Tier 1, not so much. Make sense?
4.) I'm curious why you settled on four meals / dishes rather than five?
Ah, now, see. You are a very nice person and you are assuming that there is anything resembling logic in this old brain. I have no clue.

What about packages which include "take a tier X weapon/armor"?Kesindir wrote: ↑Sun Jan 20, 2019 1:17 pm Since most things 2 or more tiers above you are inaccessible, you can use some of the quality modifiers to buy above that limit.
Do you
1) treat X as your tier in creating that weapon, in which case you could combine a tier X weapon with a tier X metal
2) treat X as the tier for the base weapon + modifiers only, and only use metals your normal wealth tier can afford
3) treat X as the tier for the base weapon + modifiers, but different metals also count as modifiers.
For example, lets say at wealth tier 4 you want to get a masterwork embersteel longsword as your "tier 8 or lower weapon"
1) Masterwork Longsword is tier 8, embersteel is tier 5, both components are tier 8 or below, so you can get your sickass sword
2) Masterwork Longsword is achievable, but embersteel is one above your wealth tier, so you'd have to spend 2 wealth points to get the sword
3) Longsword (6) plus Masterwork (2) plus embersteel (5-4=1) equals a tier 9 weapon, so that's out of your range.
Second question: In the event of something like scenario 3, could you pay 2 wealth points to get something a tier higher? It's only one tier off 8, but it's way out of reach of the normal wealth tier of 4.
