The Rangers' Lodge lies nestled in the mountain range behind the Fortress in the north of Viden territory. With the Devanti mountain range to the east and the White Pine Forest to the west, it is the place where anyone travelling to or from Hok stops. It is the HQ of the Viden Rangers; although the Rangers have outposts in many different places, this is their main home.

Tthe Rangers' Lodge is not one single building, but a series of them, with a significant amount of space also underground. There are a wide variety of outdoor training areas, including a number of practice ranges and assault courses, areas for endurance training and stamina-building, too. The buildings are utilitarian rather than fancy and they each serve a purpose. There are pathways, of sorts, between each building where boots have trodden and with braziers lit at irregular intervals.

It is well known that people can stay here, without paying money, but there is nonetheless a cost. Anyone who stays here is expected to work; be that in the kitchens, as a cleaner, whatever they can offer. The rangers do not teach combat, nor will they provide free training. They are polite, but tend towards being rather private although of course individuals differ.

It is well known that the Ranger Lodge is a place for trading. Furs, pelts, cured meats, anything that might be useful is eagerly traded for here. Any trouble is dealt with quickly and without hesitation; and the justice here is as harsh as the environment.

Fast Facts

Population
The population of the Ranger Lodge is very varied and changeable as Rangers come and go. There are always at least 100 Rangers here, but the maximum number is much more.
PCs may stay here for a night or two but are expected to earn their keep if they do.

Laws, Military, etc
The Ranger Lodge has a high level of lawfulness.
It has a high military presence, as it is the HQ of the Viden Rangers.
The rules and laws of Viden Fortress apply here.
Danger Level
In terms of physical safety, this is very safe as there are a lot of well trained Rangers.
The land here is also relatively "tamed" in comparison to the rest of the Viden wilderness. However, this is relative and anyone who is unprepared or unskilled is taking an extreme risk by travelling here.


Survivability
Due to the nature of Viden, any location outside the Fortress will have survivability facts. Please note that where we identify the need for a skill level, what skill that may be is down to the story.

Finding It	The Rangers' Lodge is well known and can be found by anyone. Surviving the journey depends on your route to get there - please check appropriate locations.

Hunting for Food	No unauthorised hunting is allowed in the Rangers' Lodge lands.
Camping	No unauthorised camping is allowed in the Rangers' Lodge lands.
