Edward Glass cuts an unimposing figure, standing just over four and half feet tall with an appearance best described as plain. His hair is a mess of reddish-brown curls while his beard, which Ed keeps tamed, is a darker hue. A weathered forehead and thick, bushy eyebrows sit above a pair of piercing blue eyes, often obscured behind his bangs. His nose is wide, his lips thin, and his ears average.
Edward's physique is stocky, once fit but now softened by decades of sedentarism. He possesses a few scars across his arms and legs, old reminders of his military service, and he possesses no tattoos or other distinct markings. His sense of fashion is no flashier, relying on muted colors and minimal patterns. His jewelry is often the only exception to this rule, his small collection of rings providing rare pops of ostentation to an otherwise drab display. The one accessory he is never seen without is an plain iron torc that he wears as an armlet.

Edward Glass is a man known for curiosity and cautiousness in equal measure. A voracious scholar of military treatises and stories of heroism, he is a man at home between the lines of a book and the words of a companion, avoiding forays into the outside world whenever possible. The caution was always there from an early age, instilled in him by his worrisome parents due to his physical deficiencies, although Edward had possessed that fearless nature common among young men within the Empire. Now, in the latter half of his life thus far, this caution has been compounded by old trauma to the point of reaching agoraphobia, locking him within the confines of his chosen safe spaces. Thus, in a way, Edward is two people: the witty, intelligent friend fond of debate and discourse in a place that he is comfortable in, and then a man wracked with anxiety and uncertainty when forced outside.
"
Man's greatest failure is the glorification of few at the expense of the many.
History
Edward Glass was the only child born to Charles and Lydia Glass in the city of Cahryst within Rashklarn's Eternal Empire. He lived a sheltered life, protected by his parent's fear for his safety in a world seemingly too large for him, which of course only fueled his desire to experience it as he grew older. As for most imperial citizens, this came in the form of military service, a two year stint serving as a logistician auxiliary to the Infantry Brigade stationed in the fortifications surrounding the Forest of Corpses. Edward served in a noncombat role for the majority of his tour there, until an overzealous Captain launched an offensive into the Forest, looking to carve away at the encroaching woodland. The operation proved disastrous, leading to the death of hundreds of Imperial soldiers. Edward miraculously survived the traumatic incursion, but not without his own scars physical and otherwise. The operation was largely covered up by the Empire's annalists, and all the surviving troops were either transferred or discharged; Edward chose the latter, while the Captain chose the former.
Edward's adventurous spirit broken, he returned to Cahryst and adopted a sedentary, secluded lifestyle that he has maintained for the last twenty years. He lived with his parents until their passing in the early 710s, and since then has moved into a permanent room within the Boar's Head Inn in Cahryst, not wanting to spend the rest of his days utterly alone. He could count on one hand the number of times he has willingly left the safety of his abodes, and for the longest of time he was comfortable with that. Although, in recent days, there has been a stirring within him, calling out to him to join the larger world again. Only time will tell whether he answers or not.

Although he's spent the better part of his life 'sheltered' as it were within the confines of the Eternal Empire, there remains a wide world outside of the Empire's borders, which includes many kingdoms and republics and other such political entities. Rumor has it not all of these political entities have fared well in the past year. Refugees from Rynmere and Quacia specifically have found their way into the borders of the Empire, and struggle to find their way.
One particular Quacian refugee, speaking good common one night at the tavern relates a tale of walking plantlife that creeps and crawls and kills its way through the countryside. Reminding Edward Glass Perhaps of his experience of his own experiences in the Forest of Corpses. Will he grill the poor refugee from Quacia for more information, or invite him to carouse with his friends, and share happier tales? The choice is his.
